Hi all,
So a bit of background: I'm a T1 diabetic of 15+ years and have been on Novolog + Lantus for a good portion of that time. Not the very best but an A1C usually around a 7.
Last week after visiting the doctor and asking him about Tresiba and all the good stuff I was hearing I was...
Hi everyone
Apologies - I rarely ask questions on the forums (always nervous of people saying I'm asking stupid questions) but I had such a bizarre experience on Thursday I thought I'd reach out. I am type one diabetic for the last 8 years and have never had an experience like this. I'm on...
Hi all, should my dose of tresiba hd my blood sugar flat or slowly drop it over the cause of the day or night? At 11pm my sugars were 10. Woke up at 7 and they where 5. I am seeing through and inbetween meals that my sugars drop slowly.
Should I be aiming for flat, and if so should I continue...
Anyone got any good snacks that require no injections (between meals).
To give you a hint I love pork pies, so suggestions of sliced green Peppers are not going to cut it! Haha.
A couple of weeks ago I managed to mistakenly inject my basal dose using my Humalog pen...
It was an interesting evening.
It set me thinking that I would never inject more than say 9 units of Humalog in one go. For a high carb meal I might perhaps need more, but it would be a split dose.
So...
Hello,
My mum has been diagnosed about 12 years ago but has not managed her bg very well. She would eat carbs etc and just put her diabetes out of mind her levels were in high teens. She has now been prescribed insulin and I think this has given her the kick in the butt to do something about...
Hi
I may be going on the Insulin route as my diabetes is not doing well with drugs, as my pancreas may be packing in.
Anyone here who's type 2 injecting insulin?
Love to hear your thoughts in this area if have had the same issues; your experience etc would be much appreciated.
Regards!
Hello Everyone!
My name's Sean O'Sullivan and I've been T1 since I was 5. I'm now 23 and because of being stupid when I was younger and not looking after my diabetes, I have some retinopathy problems. I've been on a waiting list for almost a year to see a diabetic specialist and finally got to...
Has anyone had to wait a long time for blood test results for c-peptide to measure the amount of insulin they are producing. Had my blood test on 29 jan and I’m still waiting. My GP has said the hospital save them up and batch test them. I’m getting impatient for the results.
Hi all, it's me, bothering again.
Type 1 diabetic, since almost 25 years now. On MDI: humalog + tresiba. I am 28 years old, very active and with a slim profile.
Here is the problem. Since more than a week, I have seen my body become very resistant (not sensitive) to insulin. For years, my...
Dear All,
My wife has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and she is in 35 weeks of pregnancy.
She is on insulin being given 4 times a day with dosage of 4-4-4-6 mg. She is on strict diet and does brisk walking after food.
Doctors have advised to have the range for fasting 70-90 and...
My husband before he went into hospital here in Spain was on insulin twice a day (novomix 30) 40 units in the morning and 20 units in the evening. He has now been prescribed in hospital and again when he was discharged Abasaglar Kwik pen 18 units once a day. He feels great and his readings are...
As Valentine's day approaches. Spare a thought for less fortunate diabetics and remember how lucky we are in the UK even if it is not perfect.
This campaign is for diabetics who have no access to insulin.

Hi all. Before I go into any details has anyone suffered from extremely long hypos? My reason for asking:
Yesterday I first felt symptoms of a hypo coming on at approx. 10:45am. Here's a rundown of events:
10:45am: Bloods reading 3.6. Jelly babies to the rescue.
2:15pm: About 20 Jelly babies...
It sometimes happens that I wake up in the middle of the night because of too high blood sugar. I cannot seem to sleep again, with my blood sugar being so high. I usually inject some insulin then. But here is the problem:
Usually, when injecting insulin (during the day), my body reacts within a...
So my lantus works for 18 hours. I wake up with decent fasting numbers and then I take tablets (metformin XR 2000 mg + gliclizide MR 120 mg) with breakfast. I find that my best blood sugar levels around lunch time.
Today at lunch:
Pre- Prandial - 5.6 mmol/L
2 hours post - 6.3 mmol/L

In the 3 months I've been dating a type one diabetic he's been admitted to hospital twice, first time was due to low sugars and the second was due to high ketones. I think my main concern is that there's going to be a point, yet again, where I'm responsible for his life? Since his last hospital...
This is for illustration purposes so folks can conceptualize better what is happening in the body regarding different insulin types vs meal plans. The following graphs are by-the-numbers calculations, not drawn-in curves.
First, a look at the spreadsheet layout to establish these are indeed...
Hi, I am a first time poster. For background purposes my teenage son has had type 1 for 14 years, he has been on the accuchek combo pump for nearly 8 years. Usually we get a repeat prescription every 2 months which includes 6 vials of novorapid insulin for his pump. To be honest we normally get...
