When diagnosed, I never had a true goal to lose weight. Trimming up made sense, but my absolute objective was to get the blood numbers into line, then think about the rest.
So, I cut the major carbs, started testing and began getting to grips with the number curves fasting/pre food/ post food etc. without any effort, my luuuurve handles just started vapourising. Not that stage I was eating full fat products, but modest quantities. I only increased my fat intake when my numbers had come down, and I needed to think about stabilising my weight. Now, I do eat more fat than ever before, but it's still not as much as many on here consume.
For me, the answer was to take things in stages, dealing with one major topic at a time, the tweaking protein/fat/carbs to try to attain a steady state. When it came to it, stopping weight loss was harder for me than starting it - although I do completely appreciate this isn't always the case.
If you have weight to shift, try cutting the carbs, and only increasing the fat if you are ravenous, then doing so in small amounts. I used Mini Babybel cheeses as a great dosing tool. They're nicely packed in bite sized chunks, but feel more substantial to consume, bearing in mind each piece needs to be "undressed" before eating. It's also easier to control exactly how much one is consuming too. A slice of cheese off a block can be small, medium, large or outrageous, without too much effort!
Stick with it.
BG before eating 18.9, 2 hours post eating 15.1. Not as good results as yesterday but, at the moment, I don't want them to drop a great deal so that I can show the doctor on Monday whats happening and hopefully get some help.
It's funny isn't it, it took me from 40yrs to fifty years old to stop smoking, then I spent 10 years on Nicotine Gum and only stopped that on my 60th.Tomorrow marks 1 year since I stopped smoking, at 3.50pm. Am really excited to be able to say I am now a non-smoker. We have saved 1000's of pounds since I stopped, and that has enabled us to pay for new windows, front door and french doors in cash! Also bought a new dining tables and chairs and have more money in a savings account.
As you can see, I have will power, so am determined to do this too.

I was shocked when I read the label on Volvic flavoured water ! You're right, it won't have helped !
Good luck for tomorrow, stay calm and focussed . Be clear about what outcome you want .
What time is your appointment ?

Glad hubby going with you. I think that you need to just say that the tablets you've been taking have been ineffective and that you know your levels are anywhere between 3 &4 times too high compared to what they should be and ask GP "whats your thoughts on insulin?"
If GP refers to low carbing.. Just say that you personally have tried everything to help your levels lower and now realise that medical intervention is necessary but know that you need to eat a balanced diet not a loaded one of anything
So wishing you well...
Good luck with the doc's this morning :BG down to 16.1, 2 hours post food. That's 8.0 down from this morning. But still not good enough.
It just goes to show that if you eat the right things you will get the better results.
