Forum moderator nominations 2024

For forum members information

Current moderators have no input in the mod elections other than be able to nominate. The Admin team are the ones who update & delete information regarding the moderator elections. Moderators may help in the thread from time to time with the permission of administrators

This thread is for nominations only, the voting is not yet open, please can we keep the thread for nominations, acceptances & declinations only so it doesn’t get messy and difficult for members to navigate. This thread is not for chat, or opinions, or mentions of who we would vote for, as that can be intimidating to nominees. We will put an updated list of those nominated, accepted & declined as soon as possible, in the meantime as pointed out earlier we are a very small team at the moment so please help us out by sticking to nominating, accepting & declining

Of course if you are considering standing for election and have any questions please feel free to direct your question to the current moderators either in this thread or by PM if you prefer - the current moderators are @Pipp @KennyA @EllieM @VashtiB @ianf0ster @lovinglife

The Opening post has now been updated to include those who have been nominated, accepted & declined so far

@Zhnyaka . It is not clear from your response to the nomination whether you are accepting or declining. ?
To be honest, I'm confused and I don't know if I want to be a moderator, but I would try, if you don't mind that my understanding of English depends on a Google translator, and my ability to understand by ear is limited to the phrase "London is the capital of Great Britain". And if everything is OK with the fact that due to the periodic shelling of my city, one day you may have one less moderator (I don't think anything bad will really happen, so far, the shelling has only knocked out windows in houses on the opposite side of the city from me, but it's still worth keeping in mind the fact that maybe I won't live a year)

Nominations list will be monitored and updated, daily.

Just making sure this thread remains visible so bumping to ensure everyone has the opportunity to view, nominate and consider accepting nomination.
Please remember that voting thread will be posted as a separate thread after the nomination period ends.

Not one of us knows if we will live a year. A bit of an aside, and most of us are not living with your "interferences", but it is the truth. Accidents happen.

Not to toot my own horn but I’d love to give it a go, I have moderated an online game before and a discord server if anyone knows what that is :hilarious: So I think I definitely have some decent experience. I also enjoy being on these forums and would like to help out more in any way I can do!

Thank you, @Nicola M You will be added to the nominee list.

If anyone else wants to ‘toot a horn’ or join any section of the the ‘Moderator orchestra’ or suggest anyone else, then please do. This week is National Volunteers Week, after all.

edited : apologies, I edited the tag, because I made a mistake.
(Note, mods make mistakes, own them , apologise, and put them right) Pipp :)

And as this thread is about nominating I would like to nominate @Paul_
Thanks for the nomination @lovinglife, very kind of you. I'll have a think over the next few days and reply.

I genuinely hope @KennyA and @Pipp continue, they've been so helpful in my time here, and they're very good mods too in my opinion.

Other than that, I'd like to nominate:

@Outlier - Kind, considerate, supportive and very knowledgeable.

@HSSS - Scientific and research knowledge in abundance, plus great at explaining the detail in easy to understand language.

@JoKalsbeek - I get the impression from your posts that you've got a lot going on, but I'd just like to say you really would make the most wonderful addition to the mod team.

Thanks @Paul_ . I too will take a moment to consider. Having been around for a few years now (6yrs next week in fact since diagnosis and finding this place) I would like to ”give back” and this year is a little calmer for me than previously.

Aw, Paul, thank you. Our mods are a precious bunch, keeping this a safe haven for all. And I do second your excellent nominations, but for me, no... Even if I didn't have a lot going on, people are (too) hard. But it's sweet you thought of me, thanks again! :)

I don't think anyone here would be okay with you being blown up. But I do think you'd make an excellent mod.

Hoping you'll be safe!
Jo
