Blood sugar levels over 33.3 after taking my injections and having only bacon, eggs, fried onions and mushrooms. I just can't win.

It seems you can't. I am sorry. That level is DANGEROUS. Is it going down? If it doesn't drop quickly you need to ring 111 urgently.

Wash your hands and retest to make sure that's correct, and if it is that high, give 111 a call. Tell them you're on insulin and you can't get your blood sugar down.

bacon, eggs, fried onions and mushrooms.

That won't (shouldn't) be the cause, did you consume anything else at all? As suggested wash hands and test again. Something else you might consider is how long after injecting do you test? Also, is there a chance that the injection isn't being absorbed correctly.

Even if your BG comes down, you need to speak to a diabetic specialist as soon as possible.

BTW, you will win, something weird is going on, you just need to find out what it is.

I feel fine, had a good night's sleep. But my blood sugars beg to differ as I've just tested after having breakfast and it's 33.1. I've took all my medication and I'm ready for today.

@akindrat18 You really need to speak to a doctor or nurse urgently.

Blood sugars that high are dangerous and need attention.

Is there a reason why you didn't ot couldn't call 111 last night?

I know you're Type 2 not Type 1 but take a read of this thread. Blood sugar that high is very bad:

The lady above was admitted to hospital. You might not need that but you do need to speak to somebody. The fact you feel ok can be misleading - as the lady above found.

So does all your medication include a correction dose? You said your nurse has advised 1 unit to bring you down 3 mmol, if your at 30+ you should be aiming to get under 7 and that would mean a correction dose of 8 or 9 units.

My parents said to me to wait until I see the DSN today before calling 111.

Only my Novorapid is used for correction dose. I also take Tresiba 30 units and Victoza 1.2 mg at night. I should be taking SR Metformin 500mg two twice a day, but can't handle taking tablets.

Yes, novorapid is used for a correction dose. Have you taken a correction dose? The above doesn't answer my question which is:- when you say you've taken all your medication, does that include the correction dose your nurse advised of 1 unit to bring you down 3mmol/l?

Oh dude, it must be so tough for you. I'm really sorry to hear how difficult it is for you at the moment. Take heart, so much support here. I only started Carb counting 8 yrs ago and only Low carb/high fat this year. The unbelievable difference it's made!! Should be made a law for ANY diabetic to be educated on these 2 things. Now I can actually get up in the mornings with some semblance of feeling normal. Unless I don't get coffee, heh heh

@akindrat18 Are you definitely seeing the DSN today - that is, do you have an appointment for today?

I am, got an appointment for 12:30pm and currently on hold trying to get an appointment to see my GP as well. Going to ask about CGM and more about carb counting.

Yes it does. I've took an extra 15 units of Novorapid.

Akindrat has tried LCHF before after some of us suggested it. He doesn't like it, and his HCPs tell him it isn't a good idea. So carb counting to get his insulin dosage right seems to be the best option for him.

Learning to carb count and getting some tailored education about your diabetes would be far more valuable than a CGM, in my opinion.

I'm very glad you're seeing the DSN. Don't be palmed off. The bottom line is you need to improve your control to reduce your risk of getting long term complications.

You've done very well with your weight loss, now you need to get the diabetes under proper control. You can do it - keep pushing for support and keep going :)

Please do let us know how it goes today.

Yes it does. I've took an extra 15 units of Novorapid.

Well that's a brave correction dose if you've been told 1 unit lowers you by 3. 15 units would lower you by 45 and if you are at 33 you only want to drop by about 26. Keep a close eye on blood sugar and hypo treatments handy. Of course it's possible that 1 unit to lower you by 3 isn't the correct correction dose for you, is a fairly standard correction dose often used as a starting point for everyone, including those on much lower total daily doses of insulin. And you're very high so that high blood sugar will be exacerbating your insulin resistance.

I'm not sure why you think a CGM will help. It seems that you have high blood sugar because your insulin doses aren't sufficient. You'd be better off learning how to use your insulin with some proper basal testing and learning how to carb count. Otherwise all a CGM will do is show you what's going wrong and you won't know how to fix it.

it takes some days to get down, keep on eating the right stuff and your bloods will be better..just dont eat pasta and juice and bread and potatoes and rice or fruit, ---- just eat berries instead..

How much did you have? Quantity matters, even when it is low carb.

I would consider lowering food intake till the glucose level stabilize. Taking some leafy vegetable soups or handful of nuts.
