Very Unwelcome News

Friends, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to let you know that our friend, colleague and fellow traveller, Goonergal has passed away, after a short but courageous battle with an aggressive cancer. Goonergal died last Monday night.

Goonergal was a great supporter of this forum and worked tirelessly during her period as a Moderator. She felt it was a way of giving back to a community who had given her so much.

My heartfelt condolences go to her family, friends, both on and off-line and those who loved her. I know I will miss her enormously. Goonergal’s family have asked their privacy is respected at this time.

Goonergal was a very special person, the likes of whom we don’t encounter too often. Rest easy my friend. Rest easy.



Mods: I appreciate this isn't strictly on-topic on this sub-forum, but Goonergal was know by so many I didn't want it to be lost in anywhere too specific. Sorry!

The only correct place for such a thread is somewhere very visible, I don't care if it's off topic.

Would you like to put a link to this thread in the What have you eaten today thread, where she was very active?
 
Oh no. Can't really take in this awful news.

I won't ever forget you Goonergal You have been an inspiration to me, especially in your posts about walking football. I wouldn't have dreamt of learning to play if it hadn't been for you.

Oh my. I’m so shocked as I wasn’t aware she was even unwell. So sad, she will be sorely missed on these forums so I can’t imagine how much more heartbreaking it will be for those in person who knew and appreciated her as we did. Rest well Goonergal, you truly did leave a mark in life.
 
Words can't really express my thoughts so just wanted to say a simple and heartfelt goodbye to a special person and good friend to me and many Goonergal you will be also missed by many whose lives your sound and kind advice have touched in a positive kind and helpful way

Wish I had known
She took time out to offer support to me last year.

but that's just the kind of person she was ....looking out for others first.
