What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

No, I fry it. It may work in the air fryer without the paddle but the paddle would destroy the fish. Just in a frying pan - not deep fat. I really like that DD curry tartare sauce too (almost as much as my sudden desire for mint sauce).

I take the paddle out of my air fryer and put in a basket which clips in where the paddle goes - good for fish and all sorts of stuff.

Getting ready for our annual family bank holiday weekend away - 35 of us this year and going to Northumberland this time for a spot of coastal walking. We always self cater and Mrs Miggins issues job lists.

Lunch today- a three egg omelette with mushrooms and cheese.

Buffet dinner with some family members who are staying over tonight on their way up from down south: roast chickens (2), salads of various sorts (they are also having pizza, spring rolls, mini burgers and one granddaughter has requested noodles).

Better get on with it - I have already baked some low carb blueberry muffins as part of my low carb survival pack.

@Brunneria and @ anyone else who brews kefir - is there anything else you can do with the kefir or grains? Especially the grains. They are multiplying at an alarming rate and its costing me a small fortune in organic whole milk. (At this rate they'll take over the World by Christmas.)

This was EXACTLY what I experienced - ended up binning half of them regularly - and feeling v guilty about it! Murdering their little hard working fluffiness.

I would suggest that you harden your heart and only keep the amount of grains that you need to produce the amount of kefir you want to make in a single day.

:(

Ooh I love kale crisps. How long do you put them in for?

I don’t have a paddle in mine ( it’s just a cheapo Lidl one). I wonder if that ‘crumb’ would crip up in the airfryer, or would just go hard.

I’ll look up the tartare sauce for next time we have cod. It does sound good. Tonight it’s sea bass though and I think lemon butter goes well with that.
Usually about 5 mins and I give them a shake about half way through. Very simple - about 4 cups of kale but take the rib off, toss in about a tablespoon of olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Bung in the air fryer and cook for 5 mins giving it a shake half way.
Loads of things you can add to the mix e.g. sesame seeds or I've added sesame seeds and diced prosciutto. Pine nuts are good too. Other seasonings you can use are garlic or onion salt. If you want more spicy kale , hot paprika or cayenne.
The crumb should crisp fine.

No B except TWAM. 11.45 2 slices schneiderbrot protein bread toasted with butter and 750 mls 0 cals and carbs electrolyte drink and 750 mls water. Waited 2 hrs then ate about 56 gms smoked cheddar and some chicken. Evening meal was another 750 mls of electrolyte drink, no pastry bacon, mushroom and cheese quiche, butterhead salad and h/m mayo. Then had 2 chicken wings and will probably have more water. No metformin today.
So far it has been stool Thursday. Bit hungry still but I will settle for a day with no problems and hopefully build from there.

The curry tartare sauce - very simple. My pickle was marked are cucumber but it's the same difference.

A friend of mine has just posted this, now I have to cook it (at some point):

Wheeee! I promised to make Mr ZF a new meat recipe once in May for fraternity/solidarity (hear the lifetime labor union member speaking lol) with the Meaty May folks. Who are simply a different kind of wacko than me. This will be it! Oops... will have to buy bacon.... the real stuff. Maybe butcher can sell me 4 slices good stuff.

Dawn phenomenon - just a couple of things that work for me:
1. A bit of cheese first thing in the morning to help drag it back after testing. I did this for about a year and then, after a chat with a friend, tried this-

2. A small bit of carbs at about 9pm to give all internal players something to play with - I use one or two low carb home made crackers, each about 2 inches square, with a bit of cream cheese (or just on their own).

Good luck with whatever works for you.
I've been having the same palaver with DP but it's dropping now. Made the mistake today of going to the gym and Aqua zumba without eating and up went the BGs! They did drop but it took a while. My go to when going to the gym was usually a LC cracker or two but I thought I could do without.

@maglil55 you are having these weird food cravings....mint, tatare sauce...you sure you're not pregnant?

@ianpspurs I do really sympathise. There is nothing that gets me down more than a bad tum. I think giving up the Met is probs kind to your tum. At least you have managed to get some food into you. Please take care.
Breakfast: 1 slice HiLo toast, butter, tea.
Lunch: Cup of carrot and butternut soup.
Supper: 2 egg salad with mayo. Dessert optional. If I feel up to it 2 squares Lindt 90.
But no more CWC for me, it was useful and filling but to coin a phrase “rotted my guts”.

I have visions akin to something like Day of the Triffids.

Hi all back home after my wonderful Scottish break - loved it - rained todaybut as travelling just able to watch it through the train window! Done lots of walking exploring while away so enjoyed sitting today - i have done 22,000 steps each day while away just exploring but a mere 4000 today!
On train most of day today so food was what I could get on the first class menu that was low carb - suffice it to say OH has a bag full of carb goodies to work through over next week or so! I can’t say no to ‘free’ food!
Late breakfast two slices of bacon taken out of roll.
Lunch the inner bits of an egg mayosandwich eaten with a spoon and a gin and diet tonic
Dinner at home - cauliflower cheese, asparagus, mushrooms and steak and glass red wine followed by scoop oppo chocolate ice cream and extra thick cream, decaf coffee and two squares of montezumas 100% choc.Ive missed my low carb puds and treats!

Bed 6.6 FBG 7.6 and we went dancing up to 8.6 because I omitted to eat something before going to the gym/aqua. I was intent on OMAD today.
B. TAG with ADOC
L. Lots of water and BGs finally dropping
D. Sorry folks, I've been at it again with my Italian version of tripe but I was a bit heavy with the chilli. Still delicious though. Had a biggish bowl with a slice of Tesco high protein bread. Mouth was burning a bit so followed by a scoop of Lidls High protein ice cream and 3 sliced strawberries. 2 squares of G&B mint chocolate (@zauberflote still on a mint kick).
Got tickets for the Mousetrap at the end of the month. When I think how long it's been on the go and I've never seen it. Also decided I had to buy tickets for We will Rock You in October as they were going quickly - the music of Queen - what's not to like. The boys continue to be good. Their teachers look happy!

Yes, I flushed a couple of bowls if them down the sink just after starting off the latest batch. Then I got worried that they might start multiplying in the drain and go solid (like they do) so I poured a couple of kettles of boiling water down after then.

Hey @shelley262 welcome back officially for real. Rainy day train rides are exactly what I'd like. Not missing out on a possibly rare sunny day!
O. M. C! (Crackers)!!!!! I can't find here who kindly posted his recipe for flax crispbreads, @dunelm maybe? Anyway, tried them. O. M. C!!!!!!! I used salt and smoked paprika, and inhaled the whole thing. Putting cheese on it might be sacrilege. However, now I have a cracker to put some cheese on at tea partays, and a quick and easy High Fiber snack, something I need more of. I apparently shorted out the microwave doing them-- but it's revived itself now. This thing is not fancy enough to have to reboot, so I'd say it's haunted. Guess I'll put a tiny bowl of water in going forward.

I run the back of a knife over it to make a grid so that it snaps into squares - well, when it feels like it. Tasty though - and a great talking point at tea parties.

My airfryer doesn't have a paddle, but it does have a drum that mounts in the same place as the rotisserie clips. That keeps things turning over it required.

To be honest, it's a faff to both use and clean, so we don't use it now, although I might give it a whirl for kale crisps that I'd usually dehydrate. I'm also considering buying a cheapo chip basket I can cut the handle off, for easy of turning and so on.

The shelves in my machine are great for some things, but faffier for others.

Evening all. @zauberflote I agree the microwave cracker @dunelm shared is brilliant - so quick and easy and crispy.
Welcome back @shelley262 egg mayo sandwich filling with a g&t is an unusual lunch! Needs must though, glad you had such a good time.
Made myself have breakfast early to stop the DP I’ve been finding affects me a lot at the moment too.
1 boiled egg with a buttered flaxseed bun. CWC ( so sorry this didn’t agree with your tum @PenguinMum)
L: tin of mackerel in olive oil with salad of avocado, radishes and pumpkin seeds. More oo and acv dressing. @Goonergal’s almond butter/ cream pud to follow as I was still hungry for some reason. Bg dropped from 4.9 before meal to 4.7 afterwards so definitely a winner.
D: Sea bass ( or just plain bass as Mr C always insists we call it as we don’t have freshwater bass so the ‘sea’ is superfluous - he tells us this every time we have it or see it on a menu!) with lemon butter, spinach and broccoli. HC 100% dark chocolate afterwards. 1glass red earlier.

@maglil55 thanks for all the airfryer tips, I’m looking forward to playing with it.

Edit for typo
