Anne, a couple of things when going carnivore:Thanks Quinn, I have been trying different ways of eating over the last 2 years. Trying only to eat animal products atm but I may have to rethink it. Seems to be making things worse right now. It is only a week though. Haven't yet weighed myself so don't know the effect on my weight, but BG seems to be permanently high - at least, it hasn't gone down; it was already high, that's why I was trying something different. One thing I do know is that any noticeable carbs make BG spike something awful.
Anne, a couple of things when going carnivore:
Firstly, weight gain is often because your digestive tract is adjusting and movement through it without all the fibre makes things back up for a bit. It is quite impressive how bowel contents weigh so muchIn my case, there was a short adjustment period and then things worked better than they ever did on veg. lol.
As for raised glucose levels... I found that I need to do keto carnivore. Too much protein (for me) leads to glycogen storage, and protein converted to glucose. If you are still on insulin, I can see how that wouldn't be ideal. For me, the answer was both easy and simple: less meat, more fat, in keto macros. Problem solved.
I honestly don't think trying a different way of eating for just a week is giving it a fair chance. I would say the same about the Eatwell, Vegan, Pescatarian, or NutarianIf I started trying to reintroduce veg at this point (shudder) it would take weeks or a month for my body to adjust. It has been veg free for 2 years now. I would need to give it time. We eat a certain way for years or months, and then switch to something different? Of course there is a transition. Its just common sense. I do wonder how many people get scared off LCHF because they get carb flu, and then say 'it didn't work for me' when if they had stuck with it, and educated themselves about fluids and electrolytes, they would have taken to it like a duck to water. Sorry, ranting a bit. I had a friend who tried 'low carbing' and 'felt dreadful' and now lectures everyone on how awful it was. The reality was that she low carbed Mon-Fri morning, and then had 2 takeaways on Fri and Sat, and a roast dinner with all the trimmings on Sundays. And guess wot, she never fat adapted, and never saw any low carb benefits... The same mindset applies to switching to, or from, carnivore or any way of eating.
Evening all.
@Annb wondering whether some of the ‘hunger’ isn’t thirst? You’ll be ditching a lot more water and electrolytes and you also mention a diuretic. Having over indulged on nuts, choc, cream etc over Christmas and then going back to strict carnivore I’ve been insatiably thirsty as my body readjusts. Sometimes that feels like hunger. Just a thought.
Today was busy, busy at work and resulted in a far later than normal dinner. Worth waiting for though - delicious air fried Barnsley lamb chop and a fried egg. Lunch was the usual fried eggs, bacon and cheese.

I weighed my chicken leg - it came in at 297 grams - my macro says 119 grams - so I thought the bones might be making things worse - not much; they weighed 35 grams, so my chicken leg meat weighed 262 grams.
They are useless against a band saw tho'...Helpful from those nasty nicks a blade, or particularly the circular blade can make, without noticing, until the claret spills.
Thank heavens Dennis is okay I’m just about to make sure all our paracetamol are in medicine cupboard as we are picking cooper up in am for nearly a weeks stay!Still sort of following the DD plan, but having swapped out the goat cheese frittata a domino effect happened and I’ve had to swap a few more meals ( or end up with mince based meals for lunch and dinner on a few days running, just didn’t fancy that)
B: 2fried eggs 2 slices smoked cheese.
L: chicken salad, lettuce, avo, mayo.
Stressful day waiting for vet to ring - Dennis got hold of a packet of paracetamol last night and had to be rushed in..Finally got the all clear and bought him home around 4:30.
D: DD keto tuna casserole, another substitute but very popular in these parts.

It was such a worry - the pills were in daughters bag, on a desk in a room with a closed door! The latch is a bit dodgy though so I don’t think it had caught properly. It all happened so fast!
Lots of lovely walks for you and Cooper coming up, wonderful.
But the weight of the meat doesn’t equate to the grams of protein. 100g of chicken leg (according to Tesco) contains about 18g protein. https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/285210436
