Had to give you a ‘Like’ as I can’t give a hug on the app. But please consider it a very big hug. Do you make your own bone broth? That might be nice snd soothing for your digestive system if you can get some bones from your butcher. It would also give you the salt and minerals you need.

Our butchers don't have meat carcasses - they buy meat in as plastic wrapped joints from the mainland. So - no bones, I'm afraid.

Edited to add: I have had fluids only since breakfast - but have had 2 glasses of milk amongst the tea and coffee. BG went up each time after the milk and hasn't gone down as far as I expected - currently 11.9.

Not really hungry yesterday morning, so just a couple of slices of low carb toast and Vegemite, tub of chobani 15% protein greek yoghurt.
Ham and salad wraps for lunch.
Chicken rear end quarter, (leg and thigh together), green veggies, gravy for dinner.

Spent the last two days celebrating my birthday with my daughter on an overnight Spa break, the Cafè and restaurants were very accommodating so I kept to low carb foods but probably too much food over all! Back to nearly normal today!
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and Atkins bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and DGF chocolate birthday cake :hungry:
Dinner: chicken drum stick, Brie and salad followed by SF cherry jelly, cream and LC chocolate and raspberry granola.

Messed up yesterday. I was invited for dinner by neighbours down the road, their 13 year old daughter was cooking. Chilli sin carne so I went with a generous dose of insulin, as I wanted a little of the bread as well. Turned out something had gone wrong with the recipe, hardly any beans in the chilli, so I figured I overdid the insulin and ate some more of the bread.

Usually I'm pretty good at winging it like this, but something must have been much more carby than I thought, or maybe the bread was playing some nasty tricks.
My DiaBox app didn't lose connection for a change so we all got to enjoy a lot of alarms for high BG. Overcorrected of course, without thinking of the walk back, so got home just into hypo territory, which was fine with me because much easier to stabilise before bed.

Still, had a lovely evening!

Today back to normal, quick and easy meal of leftover snow peas with butter and salt, a slice of low carb bread with lots of grated celeriac and mayo, and a couple of garlic shrimp. :hungry:

Breakfast: ham with some crackers - had to break the crackers up and cut the ham into small pieces so that I didn't have to chew too much - gums still very sore. About 24 g carbs.

2nd meal: not long finished. Stupidly, I chopped up some salad vegetables into chunks, quite forgetting that I can't chew. Quite a bit of pain later, I gave up. Had a cup of milky coffee and left it at that. That put the BG up and it is now 10.9.

I guess it will have to be soft foods for a while yet. I'll make some veg soup tomorrow - quite a lot I expect, to keep me going for a while.

I'll be 76 tomorrow, so will be "celebrating" with milk shakes and soup. I received a birthday card from my brother today and when we spoke, I said that I didn't feel very celebratory and that I haven't really enjoyed my 70's. He agreed and says he's not really looking forward to his 80's (arriving next year). He has had a pre-op consultation with the anaesthetist at his local hospital who told him that while they would take the greatest care, a stroke is a very common result of this surgery at his age. Happy thought! However, there is very little choice since they have to find out if the tumour is malignant. **** 70's!

B: ff greek with seeds
Long hilly walk with a friend.
L: 4 squares of my cauliflower cheese savory scone thing, with added cheese on top and a tomato. Hubby was on cheese on toast and I thought I'd want that but mine was sufficiently similar that I wasn't tempted at all
Afternoon of gardening. Lawn is more weeds - speedwell and oregano and dandelions than grass.
D: haddock baked on courgette and onion in a little cream. Crisp kale on the side and lentils for the boys. Desert of rhubarb cream jelly.
Feeling very full now

Bacon, eggs, last of the button mushrooms, a small portion baked beans for breakfast.
Chicken pie with out the lid for lunch.
Savoury liver and bacon, veggies, sugar free lime jelly for dinner.

Ate a packet of Krackles watching [ spooks ] which has just appeared on my Prime Video recommended list. This is one of the best shows that was on ABC tv at the time.

I think one of the commercial stations has picked it up and filled it full of adverts for your added enjoyment. :meh:

Breakfast: the left over salad from last night chopped very fine and mixed with chopped up avocado - fairly early because I got up at 3.30 this morning - that was because I went to bed at 11.30 last night.

Snack: some of my baked ham, chopped into manageable pieces.

2nd meal: vegetable soup made with some veggies reaching the end of their days in the fridge and made in my 1 litre soup maker - looks kind of khaki, but it tastes fine. I'll have that later on. Might add a little cream when I get around to it (make that my birthday treat).

No idea yet what I'll eat tonight.

I have cucumber, tomatoes and onions.
I also have halloumi, pork belly strips and burgers in the fridge, and a piece of soft goat's cheese, and eggs.
I always have plenty of spices and condiments of course.

Sounds like a salad with a burger or pork belly is in order but I don't feel like eating salad.

So if anyone has a brilliant idea on what to make using what I have, please tell me!

You could always fry the onions, cucumber and tomatoes (cut into reasonable sized chunks or slices) and have them with the pork or burgers. Not a brilliant idea, but I prefer cooked salad veg to raw ones, so would enjoy that myself. In fact, I might just do that tomorrow - should be soft enough for my gums to cope with.

Those are the best birthday candles I've ever seen!

Went with a burger with everything except a bun. :D
Good thing I sliced the burger horizontally before frying, doubling the surface for toppings. They still didn't fit!
Lots of fried onions, a sliced tomato, some chickory leaves to act as lettuce, raw onions, jalapeno's, a hard boiled egg left over from my sailing trip, and a spicy garlic sauce made from mayonnaise, garlic, hot sauce and a drop of water.

Chosen by my daughter, they’re great aren’t they
Your daughter has a very good taste in birthday candles.
And yes, she can put that on her resumé, I'll be happy to confirm this if ever a potential employer asks for proof.

Had a few horrid days with this cold.
Wednesday bed 9.2 (and a cold sweat!) FBG 6.7
Woke up very stuffed up so yet another hot shower plus I had both boys all afternoon.
B. TAG and a SLC hot dog roll with bacon (not a hot dog!). I'd run out of SLC bread.
L. Nothing. Boys were well behaved thankfully.
D. Boys wanted broth so I had the same. A grenade ice cream bar after.
Barley pushed the BGs up but it dropped back quickly.

Thursday bed 8.2 FBG 6 2.

B. TAG and another SLC bacon roll.
L. Took the boys to Dynamic Earth (booked a week ago) and had a GF egg sandwich and a black tea while the boys had lunch
D. Knocked together a courgetti carbonara. One of these Lidl dark raspberry mini bars.

Felt a bit better this morning but shattered when I got home.

Please be aware that when we all had covid in this house it started with feeling like a cold. Apparently the delta variant symptoms can resemble a cold :wideyed:

I'm OK. My sinuses go with every cold since I was ill last year for 24 weeks. It's a hangover I've been left with from the illness.
