Breakfast: ham with some crackers - had to break the crackers up and cut the ham into small pieces so that I didn't have to chew too much - gums still very sore. About 24 g carbs.

2nd meal: not long finished. Stupidly, I chopped up some salad vegetables into chunks, quite forgetting that I can't chew. Quite a bit of pain later, I gave up. Had a cup of milky coffee and left it at that. That put the BG up and it is now 10.9.

I guess it will have to be soft foods for a while yet. I'll make some veg soup tomorrow - quite a lot I expect, to keep me going for a while.

I'll be 76 tomorrow, so will be "celebrating" with milk shakes and soup. I received a birthday card from my brother today and when we spoke, I said that I didn't feel very celebratory and that I haven't really enjoyed my 70's. He agreed and says he's not really looking forward to his 80's (arriving next year). He has had a pre-op consultation with the anaesthetist at his local hospital who told him that while they would take the greatest care, a stroke is a very common result of this surgery at his age. Happy thought! However, there is very little choice since they have to find out if the tumour is malignant. **** 70's!
A belated Happy Birthday @Annb. xxx
Doctors sometimes need a good injection of bedside manner. I appreciate they have to tell you the risks but a little bit of "coating" wouldn't go amiss.

The other burger from the pack with half a fried onion, some mushrooms, the leftover spicy garlic sauce and some tomato.
And I couldn't resist the corn on offer (2 cobs for 1 euro), despite messing up with my diabetes last time I had one.
If only I could remember how exactly I messed up with my insulin dose last time I would have a starting point this time... :bag:

Still, it tasted wonderful, and I felt I deserved it because the last time I planned to have corn I got a tooth pulled instead, and the corn went to the guinea pigs.

Hi All
So back to Friday. Usual slice HiLo toast, good butter and lots of tea.
Lunch cant remember but would have been med sized plate with salad and protein.
Supper I do remember because it was glorious..fresh mussels cooked a la Mariniere, 1.5 kg between us! I dont really know why I dont do them more often except maybe it makes them more special.
Saturday same brekkie, lunch was tub of calamari from M&S with a side salad.
Supper was crispy Peking duck with shredded veg and a little sauce.
Today same brekkie. Lunch was a special occasion with a close friend at a very nice pub. Smoked salmon & prawn starter. Chicken Milanese which I cut off virtually all the coating off with some delish green veg and two glasses of Provence rose. No more food required today after that.

Breakfast: A 3 egg omelette filled with the avocado mix that remained from yesterday.

That should have filled me for most of the day but by lunch time I was hungry so ...
Lunch: 2 Jacob's crackers with cheddar - chopped up into little pieces so that I didn't have to chew.

I meant to have a bowl of soup this evening but didn't feel like it. Hungry, but didn't fancy the soup. Just had some raspberry and echinacea tea as a holding operation. Might just have something milky later.

Another belated Happy Birthday xxx. The candles are great! How was the DGF birthday cake?
The DGF birthday cake was lovely, the sugar eaters in my family enjoyed it too :)
It was best at room temp. not straight from the fridge. I have frozen some, so will see if it affects the taste or texture

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut porridge with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Mid morning: black coffee and an Atkins bar.
Very late lunch: 3 x M&S seed crackers with Brie, a Fibre One caramel bar.
Tea at ILs: cold meat, cheese and salad buffet followed by one Jaffa cake!

Edit to add pic of crackers (posted elsewhere in another thread but thought members here would like to see it too) :)

Right here!

Not sure how often I shared this meal already here, this has turned into my favourite dish when I want to cook for 4 days.
Marinated pork belly strips (small amount to stretch the meat), mixed veggies, a spicy peanut sauce and a fried egg.
So no news here for the next three days, as the plan is to eat this for dinner every day. :):hungry:

Thanks. I'm not sure which manner I prefer - straight from the shoulder or a bit less direct. I suppose my brother prefers to know where he stands, but I think these kind of consultations have to be done, at least, in a kindly manner.

Ooo hello! Where is everyone? :wideyed:

I'm here too. Been laying down on my bed for much of the day, trying not to feel sick.

Breakfast at 10 am: bacon cut up into small pieces with 2 fried eggs. Edit: I'm beginning to think that bacon and ham are not a good idea these days.

Only tea after that and I started to feel nauseous about 2 pm when I should have eaten something to stave it off, but couldn't. Em came in for a while just after 3.0 and we sat and had a good long cuddle. Tried to have a cup of raspberry and echinacea tea but had to leave most of it. Went to bed as soon as DIL arrived and picked her up. Just up and enjoying the smell of the mushroom pastry roll that Neil is making for himself and drank the rest of the (cold) rasp & echi tea. Managing to keep it down, but can't eat anything.

I’ll trade a packet for a bottle of mayo from the Netherlands, when we meet ;)
I believe you made a reservation for that mayo almost two years ago (time flies when you're having a pandemic) so I think I'll have to bring you something else to trade when I'll finally visit your country.

Too bad you're not on insulin, I could try to make you eat salty licorice as a hypo treatment for a trade! :hilarious:
