What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi All
I am not sure I posted on Tuesday and all I can remember is brekkie was my usual slice LC toast and lots of tea and supper was Bolognese with fine green beans.
Wednesday (yesterday) same brekkie as was today and every day for that matter!
Lunch was a little pack of mini chicken skewers and a diddy pot of peanut dip from Waitrose followed by a ramekin of berries and a cup of tea. Supper was two Green Cuisine plant burgers topped with two Portobello mushrooms, all baked in the oven and is fast becoming a favourite.
Lunch today was a small bit of Higgidy quiche and salad and coleslaw.
Supper will be the chunky fish fingers and green beans.
@Antje77 I enjoy your tales of how your meals evolve with additions as you go along and when the animals get involved. The wife of our Welsh hill farmer friends had to stop eating lamb and goats cheese because of the smell. @Annb I love the decadence of a cheese sandwich for brekkie.

So did I, but it wasn't the best thing in terms of BG. Not that I think it made that much difference - BG was high-ish most of the day anyway. Same today. Maybe something to do with why I'm feeling so very stiff these last few days.

I did manage to move myself to make some very easy mushroom soup after taking a slightly higher dose of codeine (extra 15mg - the tablets are very small and can't be broken) which allowed me to move, but really knocked me for 6 so I've slept most of the day so far - other than making and eating the soup. It was quite tasty - just some precooked mushrooms with a splash of soya sauce boiled up in milk and finished with double cream. Trouble is - now I'm a bit hungry and have to think what I'm going to do about food for the rest of the day. I have got a baked aubergine in the fridge, waiting for me to do something with it, and some roasted garlic bulbs, so they might be involved.

Both days breakfast a few spoons of hm yoghurts and my supplements
Lunch kimchi, cheese and seeded crackers followed by stewed rhubarb and hm yoghurts and two squares of 90% chocolate
Dinner yesterday hm passata with venison meatballs followed by lc choc brownie
Dinner today see photo loin of lamb roasted after marinated all day delicious served it with cauliflower mash and local asparagus with glass of dry red wine followed by lc lemon cake.

That lamb looks perfectly cooked and delicious @shelley262
Today I had breakfast of cheese omelette and chilli sauerkraut
Lunch was a couple of tuna melt muffins followed by.a DGF cake.
Dinner- wild boar steak with a ‘French sauce’ ( garlic, cream, white wine and mustard - supposed to have honey too, but still lovely without) broccoli and roast cauliflower.
Because I opened a bottle of wine for the sauce, I had a couple of glasses while cooking which wasn’t a good idea - so now I’ve eaten most of a bar of Montezuma’s peanut butter chocolate.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a food dr bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: tuna melts with courgette and a few slices of carrot followed by SF blackcurrant jelly and cream.

That depends. All sorts of things might affect it - body size, what you've eaten etc. I think dietdoctor gives you carb levels for various drinks.

If you're only concerned with the effect of a particular drink on your glucose levels you'll need to test. As you probably know spirits are generally zero carb, but it's what you mix with them that matters. I've just about stopped drinking beer, as it's too carb-heavy for me for regular consumption.

Of course there's many other reasons not to drink too much.
Hi thank you I only drink vodka n 7up free or Pepsi max with it I did love coorslights and fosters. But now it doesn’t bother me. What do you drink? Have you tried Tenants light lager that’s low carb. I’ve been drinking a lot with this hot weather but I still stick to 50 carbs or less aday Food wise then just vodka n a zero mixer what I ment is it ok To drink my hbc1a March 2021 54mm June 35mm nov 34mm then March 2022 31mm I exercise everyday to I’m diet exercise control x

These days it's red wine or whisky. And a lot less than I used to drink. I gave all the low-carb beers I can find a try and the only one that appeals is Marston's Resolution - the others vary from the watery to the unpleasant.

I can't and won't tell you it's OK to drink what you're drinking, because there's just no way for me to know and it would be wrong for me to give you that sort of advice. From your HbA1c figures it's clear you've got good control over your BG, so that's a big plus for you.

Thanks I do normally just drink twice a week but when the weather is hot i tend to drink more lol can I ask you what red wine you drink? I like that but I don’t know what to buy I’ve heard 19 crimes and jam shed red is nice but I don’t know who to work carbs out were I know vodka is zero. So if we drink are we just like a normal person with out diabetes? Are you in remission to?

Pipp's provided a couple of links which will tell you the carb content and more. I have found that Lidl has a good stock of wine at reasonable prices - their Primitivo is value at (I think) £4.99 which is great for my house red.

Yes, I'm in remission. My experience is that I have become a lightweight - much less tolerance for alcohol since going keto. I guess it hits the bloodstream more quickly. So I drink less, and when I do, it is always (almost always) with food. The key thing for me was realizing that the impact of anything I drink comes on much quicker...
