What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi All
Back to Tuesday supper which was Southern Fried chicken breast which was a risk but the crumb wasn’t too thick (better ratio crumb to chicken than the mini fillets also) and it was a lovely change accompanied by broccoli and a big mushroom. As usual brekkie is always a slice of LC toast, copious tea. Yesterday lunchtime I found myself at the garden centre with a ffriend and we decided to get a snack. It was difficult to choose between sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes and jacket potatoes. Anyway my friend chose an egg mayo sandwich and I heard myself say could I have the same but with one slice of bread. I think I actually got away with it as the bread though good bloomer was the thin end of the loaf so not very big. Supper last night was a Bolognese sauce on top of cauli rice. Lunch today will be large mug of chicken soup and a chunk of cheese. I got a slab of Shropshire Blue from the farm shop and I have been enjoying bits of it over the last week, all to myself as Mr PM not a fan of blue cheese.
Its Fish Finger Firsday so will be having chunky cod fingers with broccoli.
@Riva_Roxaban sorry to hear about the infection swab and hope it gets knocked on the head before it gets too bad. @RosemaryJackson you have done so well to hold your A1c after the hand operations and a big holiday to the US. @maglil55 am very envious of your visit to Bath one of my favourite places. Enjoy it and hope your cold is better.

Breakfast: a fried egg sandwich! Just felt like it and really enjoyed it.
It won't get me through the day though so am planning to have some more h/m turkey sausages - just have to try to remember how I made them. I know it involved some paprika and some sage. I'll work something out. Still can't risk anything fibrous but I have some mushrooms to have with it - couple of days past their sell-by date, but they're fine.

Ohhh, that’s what I just had. I’d suggest bashing some fennel seeds in there with the paprika and sage, and then a tiddle of ground cloves and nutmeg. At least that’s what I do, tasty.

3 spices I seriously dislike: cloves, nutmeg and star anise. I'll have to hunt and see if I can find some fennel seeds to try in the sausages.

Just having a little rest before getting ready to go out again! Wednesday 19 October - bed 7.2 FBG 7.3. BG's staying pretty much unter control. I have a very painful left leg/ankle mainly down to the length of the journey yesterday. I did some hard work on it with my deep tissue gun which helped parts but the ankle is still sore. Everyone else arrived today.

B. Gee I've missed hotel breakfasts. TAG but with some soya milk. I have a fridge in our room so, I got Livlife bread from Waitrose (conveniently right next door) as well as plenty bottles of water. Cooked breakfast of GF sausages, bacon, 1/2 a tomato, mushrooms and a fried egg. Toasted my own bread (brought 2 slices from my room.

L. Out wandering. Got 2 new scarves in Joules while looking for the nicely named Midnight Beasts Raincoat. No luck with the raincoat but I did have a soya cappuccino in Costa. Had a nice wander through the markets too.

D. Returned to hotel in plenty time for a rest before heading out again. I had a large glass of water and a campari and soda before we headed to the restaurant which was a kind of rustic Italian. Although it was a fixed menu, they were very adaptive for our dietary needs. Squid with a garlic mayo and rocket. My squid was minus the batter. To follow, chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and wrapped in Parma ham. Much as I would have enjoyed the courgette risotto it came with, they happily substituted veg of aubergine and green beans. There was no suitable dessert for me but they produced my own little slate with cheeses and celery. They even knew not to bring crackers. More than a few glasses of dry white wine and an espresso. We visited the oldest pub in Bath on the way back which is quite a quirky place. Stuck to diet coke. A good, fun evening with a lot of laughs.

I’d never thought of taking my own bread to a hotel breakfast!
That Italian restaurant sounds wonderful, and so accommodating.

No breakfast today, just copious black coffee and PT in the park.
L- cold sliced beef, avocado, olives, blue cheese, supergreens sauerkraut. Strawberries and cream.
D- Leftover lamb rogan josh with spinach. Choc chia pud.
Daughter’s Great Dane is staying with us for a week - we are having a battle of wills over who gets to relax on the sofa. I think it’ll be a long week.

Made me chuckle.

Find yourself another comfy spot for the week, saves you a lot of frustration!

Soooo, why did I only buy one bag of frozen halloumi fries when I was in England?
Yes, they're breaded, but at 9 grams of carbs per 100 not that bad (if I read the bag correctly without my reading glasses), and very tasty, especially with the Branston pickles. :hungry:
They don't seem to have suffered from thawing on the way back and having been refrozen after two days either. :)

Had them with the rest of the veggies with peanut sauce and added some green leaves (veldsla, forgot what it's called in English) as well.

Tomorrow I'll be eating out to celebrate the 70th birthday of a very good friend so wish me luck. It will be at a pizza/grillroom type place, so it should be quite easy to make sensible choices. The potential issue is making those sensible choices though... :bag:

Probably! Hope you soon recover. I’ve had something similar this week and it’s lingering!

Nothing consumed so far today, but my usual pint glass of iced water with lime juice and pink salt is coming right up after I’ve been in the shower.

Mince is on the agenda for later.

Morning all. On the menu today are belly pork slices with fried cauli, broccoli and carrot shavings at lunchtime. Covid jab this afternoon, had the flu jab last week. For tea, probably scrambled egg with cheese and cream and a tablespoonful of Branston pickle. Love it with scrambled eggs. Pressure bandage off my hand today and a waterproof plaster to put on. It's DIY these days! Have a nice day everyone.

Just finished lumpy soup. Dinner will be a vaguely European hotchpotch of a small amount of leftover lamb from yesterday's roast, sliced aubergine, pepper, leeks, courgettes, tomatoes (unripe so lower sugar), vegetable stock cube, cayenne, turmeric, garlic, olive oil and a lump of butter. There's the option of a small Greek yoghurt or some cheese if that isn't enough, but I think it will be plenty.
