What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Monday 26 December bed 7.5 FBG 7.3 Well, we've relapsed with this bug. Hubby's cough is exhausting him, I've overdone things yesterday (too long on my feet) and can barely walk, and we both have vertigo! Trying to persuade Hubby to get up and move slowly is a nightmare.

B. TAG and 3 LC crackers with a bit of port salut and a bit of Wensleydale with cranberries.

L. CC little chocolate pot

D. Neither of us wanted anything hot, so we had smoked salmon, prawns and Marie Rose, tomatoes, 1/2 avocado, and a boiled egg (both Hubby and mine were double yolk). LC Creme brulee with strawberries.

Lots of water. Vertigo was awful today.

Today, bed 6 1 FBG 6 2 - vertigo still there but not as bad as yesterday. I'm still trying to teach Hubby how to function and deal with it

B. TAG and LC crackers and cheese - port salut and Wensleydale with cranberries

L CC little chocolate pot

D. I managed to roast a duck yesterday, so I had some cold duck with cucumber. LC creme brulee

Lots of water. Finally, I managed to convince Hubby that vertigo is thanks to this bug we've had. Move slowly, no sudden head movements, and you're fine. It will go away.

Hi, I've been fairly good today. Panful of fried veg for dinner, hm soup for tea with one slice of w/m bread well buttered. but.... a slice of date and ginger cake. but that was the last piece and I was punished for eating it.... I got heartburn. I know, serves me right. At my age, I should know better!!!!

Hope you both feel much better soon. Vertigo is horrible - so disorienting and likely to make you feel nauseous as well. Take care of yourselves as much as possible.

This is supposed tpo be the season to be jolly but it seems so many people are going down with one bug or another that it is not as jolly as it ought to be. For me, I don't think I hav e a bug, but I do think the pills the doctor prescribed are being a problem - more so than not having the pills at all. Shan't take them tonight.

Did have some food today - a toasted ham sandwich because my BG was running much lower than usual but food is not receiving a kind welcome in my stomach today. Also had a piece of home made shortbread biscuit to push BG up at one stage.

Thanks, @Annb . At least I've had it often enough to cope (although yesterday was really bad). It's a new experience for Hubby, and it took a while to get him to listen about how to move.

Today I must eat something sensible. A ham toastie yesterday was all very well - quite enjoyable in fact - but probably best not repeated. BG is higher today, sticking around the 11.5 mark, so we'll see how it goes. Breakfast will be bacon and egg again and I will try to have another meal later in the day. I have some lamb "leg steaks" which Neil bought for me and will make the effort to prep some red cabbage to go with it.

Feeling a bit better today - didn't take the new pills last night.

Another back end loaded day.

Brekkers: was yoghurt with a couple of blackberries

Lunch didn't happen.

Late afternoon: Some people may have ventured to Hotel Chocolat yesterday, after a walk that ended in the wild, blustery rain.

That one was for you @Antje77 . Let's face it, sometimes y'have to take one for the team. (That'll be just about the sum total of my chocolate for the year)

Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Dinner: Chicken wings.

Quite replete.

Thank you!
I still can't believe I haven't managed to somewhere fit in a visit to a Hotel Chocolate during my holiday, the hot chocolate with whipped chocolate cream was so high on my list of things to do.
I'll need to come back.

Good thing the slate will be cleaned in only 3 days, that's not too long to wait for next year's chocolate!

Not feeling better, but not worse either so I'll take it. Diabetes is behaving ridiculously well, despite the on and off fever, Haven't been below 4.8 or over 6.2 for 3 days, which should be impossible even when well!

Winner for the blood scores. Hero!

I may also have consumed a Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate with whip yesterday. So far today I’ve resisted the urge to make it 3 days in a row, despite having been in close proximity to HC earlier. Given the weather outside the chances of venturing back later are pretty slim.

So far today I’ve had a hotel breakfast of omelette with ham, cheese and onion with a side of bacon and sausage and an illicit pack of crisps while in town. Dinner is likely to be deli meats from the supermarket round the corner from the hotel and/or the remaining yoghurt and cream in my mini fridge. Need to save room for an enormous feast coming tomorrow lunch time.

Coffee and cream x 3
Bacon, 2 eggs, 1 sausage, tomato and mushroom
Ham tomato and two slices of gerkin

B: a chunk of brie
L: a chunk of brie and half of hubbys shop bought sandwich. He'd bought Christmas ploughman's not realising it had stilton in, and he can't stand blue cheese, luckily it peeled apart with the stilton on one side so I had that side and he had the rest. I shouldn't have had it, but can't bear to throw away expensive food and it was £4!!
Long wet drive home, but safe and avoided a couple of hold ups
D: a small hash of 95% chipolatas with sprouts and egg. A large brandy with low cal ginger ale.
Have securely hidden boys Xmas treats and edible presents into tins so I can't see them.
Being good starts here as I have an hba1c next week eek!

Have had sickness and diarrhoea since Xmas day and can't face any food. One glass of orange juice went right through me! Any suggestions please as I can't take any insulin without food.
Hi @Judybeaney , welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry you've been feeling sick for days.

What are your blood sugars like at the moment?
What kind of insulin regime are you on?
Are you alone or do you have someone with you?

You might still need your insulin even without eating.

If you haven't eaten anything since christmas day with sickness and diarrhea, I think it's time to call 111 for advice, you're running a high risk of dehydration.

Would you like me to move your post to a thread of its own?

And right after posting the above I felt like eating something, just not the tomato soup.

Good thing all rules (even your own) are postponed when ill, half a Turkish sucuk sausage was exactly what I wanted!
That was yesterday, today I did feel like eating my very thick and rich tomato soup!
Small bowl but very filling.
It's tomato soup with mushrooms because I asked my neighbour to bring veggies for the guinea pigs, preferably reduced price veggies. And while I did tell him they don't eat onions, leek or beans, I didn't even think about mushrooms. Guinea pigs do not eat mushrooms but the mushrooms needed to be eaten.
Happy to inform you that mushrooms go very well in creamy tomato soup.

I also added the other half of the sucuk, can recommend tomato soup with sucuk, with or without mushrooms.

I don't exactly feel like I'm feeling better but I guess I must be, being hungry again.
Still, having to carry a 20 kilogram bag of guinea pig food from the car to the kitchen was no fun at all with this covid.

Five more days to get better, plus one to be free of symptoms to be allowed out again, I really, really want to go to the swimming pool with my best friend and her boys on the 4th, and they really really want to visit my kittens on the 3rd.
She booked a holiday house especially for this because we live too far apart for regular visits, driving here and back in one day is too much with her chronic illness.
So fingers crossed!

Hi,

I understand. Been there traveling. (Asia.) Wife & I had serous food poisoning.

I’m on insulin too. If on a basal bolus regime? (Like me.) Don’t stop the basal, long acting insulin. Can you hold down dry unbuttered toast or bread? Maybe a banana.?
Mixed insulins could be trickier. Seek advice from your HCP.
I will reiterate what @Antje77 said about calling 111 for advice if in the UK.

Didn't eat anything else after all. I finally stirred myself to make some mince pies - just in case anyone calls - and that took all the energy I had left. Didn't feel hungry and BG playing games again - swinging between 11.9 and 3.4. Try again tomorrow.

Fogot to post my menu yesterday, got sidetracked.

Couple of sausages, two lamb kidneys, two hard fried eggs, two slices of toast and vegimite for breakfast.
Grilled Mulloway fillets, small portion chips, salad, five lychees for lunch.
Cold pork pies from the local pie shop for supper at six.

Glass of single malt before bedtime.

Morning all. I didn't post yesterday either. But I had ribs with smoky bbq sauce with half a fried potato. Made some tomato and veggie soup so had that for tea with one slice of well buttered w/m bread. Have bought some psyllium powder so will now make my own bread. Today back to bacon and eggs with butter-fried mushrooms (they don't taste like the ones my dad and I used to go hunting for). Actually nothing seems to taste like it used to! I have one last packet of prawns so prawn cocktail for tea. No lettuce just baby plum tomatoes and celery and Keto Ranch dressing. Have a good day everyone.
