What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Friday 26 May - bed 6.8 FBG 7.8. I thought the last 2 days were chaotic! Math assessment went well as they now want him to do the top-level assessment on Monday. Usual school run then got DIL to her work. Stopped to get one or two things at a supermarket where a friendly policeman (who was parked beside me) made me aware that there was a lot of wear on the front passenger tyre. It is due into the dealership next week for service/MOT, but he reckoned it would fail the MOT due to the wear. A bit of running about later with eldest & friends then off, I went to Kwik Fit. They booked me in for later, decided to get shopping done (Edinburgh Marathon Weekend) back home to drop shopping, back to Kwik Fit, then took son for shopping. Got home 7.30pm, 2 new tyres and 2 shopping trips later!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cheese spread.

L. Last bit of crustless quiche

D. By the time I got everything else done, Hubby decided something from the chip shop was in order. Fortunately, they do a chicken shish kebab, which I have with salad (no pitta). Frozen blueberries mixed with some cream.

Oh, a Peroni 00.

@Annb - I stir fry the broccoli first in the oil & hot sauce/spice until it is close to "done". The tomatoes go in for a couple of minutes as these mini santini are truly "mini." The Ploughman's Pate is also back in Tesco. I found it yesterday beside the deli cold meats & cheeses . Odd place? I thought it would be beside the other pate.

@PenguinMum I see the "Octopus Tea" returns!

Just checked - Tesco online don't have the Ploughman's Pate. I'll ask Alistair to check next time he's in Tesco's - you never know. There is so much they can't supply now, I wonder if maybe they have some more exotic things instead.

Well, my reservations about energy levels proved to be right. Doesn't help that Neil is using the "utility room" (back porch) to do some very smelly painting (Hammerite, I think) and has a couple of work benches set up in front of the washing machines, fridge and freezer, with wet Hammerited things on them so they can't be moved. Just as well I don't need to do washing today, but I also can't get ingredients for cooking. So there's a casserole dish in the oven with vegetables that were in the kitchen fridge and 3 chicken thighs (skin on for basting) on top. It will be edible but not what I had intended. Uses less of my energy anyway and will be ready just in time for me to eat before this evening's Zoom meeting.

I was beginning to think it had been a "Coronation Special." Logically, it should have been with all the other types of pate. It's part of their Finest range, and it's branded as Summer. Our local Tesco, they shut the butcher, fish, and deli counters and switched to everything pre packed. However, they have separate shelves where these counters used to be, and that's where I found them. Right beside all the packed versions of the deli meats. They are quite long dated - 7 July on the 2 I bought.

Early energetic morning again, dog walk then swim. The wind has changed direction so there were big waves which made swimming very tiring. I was glad of the nuts and flask of tea I’d bought with me.
B- back home had scrambled eggs
L- large green salad with a tin of mackerel ACV/oo dressing. Choc chia pud and a beautiful local strawberry.
D- ACV and small leafy salad then a massive ( over 700g) T bone steak. Reverse seared. Boy it was good. I wasn’t expecting to be able to eat it all but it presented no problem at all!IMG_2523.jpg

Our Tesco shut down the meat, fish and deli counters as well. They replaced it with their bakery products for a while but now it is all vegetables. I'll tell Neil to check beside the packaged deli meats.

Well the day had not gone well.
Cheese and tomato all day until delayed visit to neighbors .
A slice of Banana bread made with oat flour and honey!! Oh dear. Normally could and would say no but they made it especially for me.
Being healthy and all that....
Shall take B/S later.
After getting numbers on the way down suspect it will be up again.

@DJC3 gosh I'm so envious of your sea swims. We don't have a nearby pool anymore, although there's an outdoor one about 10miles away which is opening for the season this weekend, and we are a long way from the coast. Miss swimming so much so need to plan expedition soon to our nearest outdoor pool, especially if this amazing weather continues.
Breakfast one mushroom, slice of bacon and egg on slice of LC toast
lunchtime rhubarb with yoghurt and 100% chocolate
mid pm slice of toasted LC fruit loaf
Dinner starter of salad and glass of ACV in water, main of hm chicken curry with chopped fresh coriander and mint raita and LC roti plus glass of red wine then LC brownie and decaffeinated coffee.

Saturday 27 May bed 8.2 (no idea why other than I woke up in a sweat at 5 am). FBG 7.8. I'd planned not to venture out today as the Marathon barriers are going up. We live across the road from the finish, so we have to show special "passes" on our cars to get in and out. Our streets are barricaded after the year the friends/family of the participants took over the residents' parking, and no one could get in. We still don't venture out in the car, though, as the traffic is crazy. Best laid plan..... son wanted to go to recycling, and the grandson wanted to come to do more revision. Everything is done, and I will not be leaving home tomorrow!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with Tesco's Ploughman's Pate. (It's a mere 3.2g carbs for the 1/5 portion @Annb).

L. 8 almonds on the move.

D. Liver, egg, and bacon. Peas & santini tomatoes. I singed the bacon around the edges, and there was way too much liver. I left about half. The beige thing is a cauliflower pattie.

I dis have a Peroni 00 earlier as I'd been giving the bathrooms a good, deep clean & I was rather hot! At least with this weather, I was able to get the heavier stuff washed and dry - loose covers, towels, bath mats and the like. 20230527_185722.jpg

I feel for you. Oats and bananas and honey are all considered ‘healthy’ food by the vast majority, so when a kindly soul makes a special treat for you it’s very difficult to decline. Sometimes there’s just no alternative to biting the bullet ( or cake) or risk hurting their feelings and seeming rude. It’s the most difficult part of managing diabetes I think.
You did the only thing you could under the circumstances and you’ll soon get back to your usual good control.

Your menus sound delicious, I’d love to see photos

Just b4roke my fast with some cold chicken. I had a Zoom meeting (a memorial for an elderly friend who died on Friday) which was planned to last about an hour but which lasted for 2 hours because so many people came along to share their memories of her. So I didn't get around to having anything before it started and then just grabbed that piece of chicken to eat.

Intending just to have a veggie stir fry for 2nd meal at some time this evening. I may make some raspberry cream as a dessert. Other than that, will just have tea for the rest of the day.
