Just checked - Tesco online don't have the Ploughman's Pate. I'll ask Alistair to check next time he's in Tesco's - you never know. There is so much they can't supply now, I wonder if maybe they have some more exotic things instead.Friday 26 May - bed 6.8 FBG 7.8. I thought the last 2 days were chaotic! Math assessment went well as they now want him to do the top-level assessment on Monday. Usual school run then got DIL to her work. Stopped to get one or two things at a supermarket where a friendly policeman (who was parked beside me) made me aware that there was a lot of wear on the front passenger tyre. It is due into the dealership next week for service/MOT, but he reckoned it would fail the MOT due to the wear. A bit of running about later with eldest & friends then off, I went to Kwik Fit. They booked me in for later, decided to get shopping done (Edinburgh Marathon Weekend) back home to drop shopping, back to Kwik Fit, then took son for shopping. Got home 7.30pm, 2 new tyres and 2 shopping trips later!
B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cheese spread.
L. Last bit of crustless quiche
D. By the time I got everything else done, Hubby decided something from the chip shop was in order. Fortunately, they do a chicken shish kebab, which I have with salad (no pitta). Frozen blueberries mixed with some cream.
Oh, a Peroni 00.
@Annb - I stir fry the broccoli first in the oil & hot sauce/spice until it is close to "done". The tomatoes go in for a couple of minutes as these mini santini are truly "mini." The Ploughman's Pate is also back in Tesco. I found it yesterday beside the deli cold meats & cheeses . Odd place? I thought it would be beside the other pate.
@PenguinMum I see the "Octopus Tea"returns!
Maybe slice it with a mandolin, or thin blade on the food processor as it can be very stringy..... dipping it in chocolate sounds creative and tempting....
I was beginning to think it had been a "Coronation Special." Logically, it should have been with all the other types of pate. It's part of their Finest range, and it's branded as Summer. Our local Tesco, they shut the butcher, fish, and deli counters and switched to everything pre packed. However, they have separate shelves where these counters used to be, and that's where I found them. Right beside all the packed versions of the deli meats. They are quite long dated - 7 July on the 2 I bought.Just checked - Tesco online don't have the Ploughman's Pate. I'll ask Alistair to check next time he's in Tesco's - you never know. Our Tesco shut down the meat, fish and deli counters as well. They replaced it with their bakery products for a while but now it is all vegetables. I'll tell Neil to check beside the packaged deli meats.I was beginning to think it had been a "Coronation Special." Logically, it should have been with all the other types of pate. Well the day had not gone well.
Cheese and tomato all day until delayed visit to neighbors .
A slice of Banana bread made with oat flour and honey!! Oh dear. Normally could and would say no but they made it especially for me.
Being healthy and all that....
Shall take B/S later.
After getting numbers on the way down suspect it will be up again.
Thank you. I agree sometimes it is the only thing to do.I feel for you. Oats and bananas and honey are all considered ‘healthy’ food by the vast majority, so when a kindly soul makes a special treat for you it’s very difficult to decline. Sometimes there’s just no alternative to biting the bullet ( or cake) or risk hurting their feelings and seeming rude. It’s the most difficult part of managing diabetes I think.
You did the only thing you could under the circumstances and you’ll soon get back to your usual good control.
