@DJC3 Happy Birthday to Mr DJC sounds like you had a wonderful meal and a lovely day I love special family celebrations.
Busy day for me today as flooding levels a bit lower so more able to get around so also used opportunity as out and about to do an almost one meal day. I find it helps me manage my weight to change things around a bit. Will probably do two meals tomorrow and then aim for a one meal day on Tuesday as I'm out and about again. I find it easier to fast if I'm distracted.
Mid am small kefir just enough to take my supplements
Black tea and black coffee and water during the day. It's now my third day of sticking to black coffee so I'm really hoping that I'll be able stay a black coffee drinker!
5 ish had steak, mushrooms, shallots a few plum tomatoes and four small new potato chips ( had been par boiled, sliced into chip shapes and frozen) also small glass of red wine then had black coffee and one 70% chocolate truffle ( one left now)

As often happens, my best laid plans went awry yesterday. I had the beef stew and I had one RyVita because I was hungry by the time I got to it then it all went downhill and I started feeling nauseous again and oh so tired. Slept most of the day and when I woke up I really didn't feel like either fish or pork so decided to have nothing. BG was 5.9, so I figured that would be all right. Then, of course by 9pm I felt a bit hungrey, so I had some scrambled egg. BG by the time I went to bed (11.45pm) was 6.4.

BG this morning was 6.0. No breakfast so far and I'm still wondering what to have other than tea. I will have to use both the fish and the pork today.

Made a stir fry with the cubes of cooked pork plus the one remaining spring onion and some roasted tomato left from last time I had tomatoes, stirred in an egg and some soy sauce. Went down well.

That leaves the fish - it's haddock fillets. Probably poach them in milk.

Spicy food which is too hot. Nasty people who have no idea on your life journey but feel the need to comment and be cruel.
Went to the garage for car service.
They have a new coffee machine. Had three different coffees.
Smoked salmon
Biltong 1 oz
Coffee and unsweetened almond milk
Half a small roast chicken. Now feel sick!!!!!!

Hi All
So yesterday had usual brekkie of slice LC toast, butter, copious tea.
Lunch was two fried eggs on slice LC toast.
Supper was Thai chicken stir fry with mixed pepper matchsticks.
Today same usual Brekkie.
Lunch chunks of Emmenthal and Red Storm cheeses, one ryvita. Tea.
Supper will be h/m chilli beef with cauli rice.
@DJC3 your celebration meal for Mr DJC’s birthday sounded lovely as did that cheddar & broccoli soup which I will put on my list. Didnt get above 2 degrees here today and Mr PM has chest infection so am giving him a wide berth.
@maglil55 sorry to hear of repeat Norovirus, once is bad enough!!
@Annb as usual you are being very stoic about your challenges.
@Antje77 your meals always sound so convivial with your furry friends.
@PocketRocket welcome and it does take time to figure it all out. Things I found useful were the info graphics for different categories of food on Diet Doctor and keeping a food diary to record safe and trusted meals and don’t forget swaps if cooking for others eg. Cauli rice instead of rice and green beans or courgetti instead of pasta.

Evening all. Started today as usual with goat milk kefir and vitamins then it all became a bit frustrating. I had a doc appt at 9:00 but my car was frozen solid and I couldn’t get the door open. Luckily the surgery is only 20 min fast walk away so I just about made it ( I was going to drive so I could go shopping afterwards). Once home I spent the rest of the morning trying to get through to HMRC. When I finally did, I was told they had an 8 month backlog before my particular pension query would be assessed!
Lunch was a small cup of leftover broccoli cheddar soup, then salami crisps used to scoop up cream cheese and a DGF cake.
Mid aft 20g Montezuma’s chocolate, still feeling frustrated after the phone call.
Dinner: more leftovers - hogget and veg from yesterday then frozen blueberries mashed into cream to make ice cream.
@shelley262 you’ve inspired me to try black tea again, I’ve had 3 cups today. I think the trick for me is to make it much weaker than I’d usually have it.
@PenguinMum I keep meaning to ask if you’ve had an email from LoDough saying they will be back in 2024? I know that you, like me, enjoyed them as pizza bases.
@maglil55 more hugs from me for the norovirus and horrible bug. Did you get offered a trial of the new DD Hava app?

're black tea I have mine very very weak it's almost hot water! I'm finding that if I water down my coffee so it's two thirds coffee and one third hot water it's easier for me to enjoy. Often when fasting for blood tests in the winter but deliberately drinking more to help hydration. I find a mug of hot water is much more enjoyable than lots of glasses of cold water. Hugs for your iced over car so difficult when locks ice up. Will go and check mine in morning to make sure as it's tough when time is tight. So so frustrating too 're the HMRC I have personal experience as I am sure many of us have!

Slept through from midnight to about 8 for the first time in weeks!

Skipped breakfast and off to exercise class where everyone was welcoming the return of normality.

Tea and a good catch up after

L: one slice cheese and ham on liv life toast with more meat and olives. 1 hm lc cherry and cinnamon muffin . Cwc

An afternoon nap

D: a triumph of a scratch meal. Had cooked chicken so made a Chinese style stir fry from adding a chilli and garlic form the olives pot, 1/4 an onion lurking at bottom of fridge, green beans from the freezer and a tin sliced mushrooms. Added Chinese 5 spice powder, soy sauce and ginger. Splash of water.
Surprisingly tasty. Hubby had his on rice.

I'm celebrating with a spiced rum.
A less busy day meant I've been suffering grief symptoms.
Tomorrow is another day, and dancing restarts, phew!

Mine does that but I've discovered the drivers door is more prone to the chill as its parked more exposed and I can often get in through the passenger side. Not elegant but at least I can get going.

Hugs for the HMRC call. I used to have to contact them for work and found:
Never call on a Monday or a Friday
Afternoons are better than mornings
Don't accept the answer from the first person. Keep calling until you get to one who gives you the answer you want

(Note, all the above applies to other government and councils too)

Yes, me too @shelley262. My black tea is so weak it's helpless.
Love black coffee though. I can happily drink an espresso, no problem.

Evening all

This morning, I nipped out to the garden to harvest the last of the mint. It stopped growing weeks ago, as might be expected, but I managed to eek it out for Christmas and the New Year. From now until Spring I shall rely heavily on thyme, sage and rosemary, plus the newly-acquired lemon verbena which was still in a pot, so could be brought into the greenhouse. We'll see how that fares.

Today:

B: Two poached eggs topped with a knob of butter, avocado and four tiger prawns, seasoned with a good grinding of black pepper.
Water to swallow tablet.
Espresso.

L: Blue cheese stir-fry using pointed cabbage, Blue Stilton, chestnut mushrooms, onion, thyme, double cream and a touch of white wine vinegar.
Steamed French beans and mangetout with toasted pine nuts.
Water to drink.
Skipped pud.

D: Seafood salad made with crab, brown shrimps, lettuce, apple peel, celery, baby plum tomatoes, last of the mint and Romano peppers dressed with an olive oil, balsamic and garlic vinaigrette, topped with roasted macadamia nuts.
Water to swallow tablets.

4 January bed 8.6 FBG 8. Still under the weather with this bug, my legs are bad, too, but that's normal when I have a bug. @Annb, my GP couldn't find my pulses in my feet, but the nurse poo poo'd that. She said my veins etc are so deep it's like mining to find anything. With the use of a sensor, my pulses were located and normal.

B. TAG and still on 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and cheese and onion. Benecol dairy free.

L. 3 M&S crackers with wensleydale and port salut. This is down to you @Antje77. Your cheese fest looked so attractive, I felt the need to have cheese.

D. I now remember why I don't have Chinese carry outs! I ordered what should have been fairly safe - pak choi still fried with garlic, mushroom, and shredded carrot as a side to beef with green pepper. There was obviously something in the sauce as my BG shot up to 13.6!! I'd been doing the annual magazine cull as well as taking down the lights & the tree. I was just shattered. I won't do that again in a hurry.

5 January - bed 11.9 FBG 7.9 (that didn't last. It soon started rising again).

B. TAG with 3 rashers of streaky, 1 fried egg, slice of GF toast. Benecol dairy free.

L. I had to have cheese! 3 crackers, port salut & wensleydale.

D. A bit of crustless quiche with coleslaw. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries (trying to undo last night's disaster). It didn't work.

@PenguinMum - I'd be asking questions, too. I wasn't overjoyed about the 5 injections in my eye on the second op, but at least it just left me with a bloodshot eye for a month. At least it's left me in a good place as they are weaning me off the eye drops. I'm back next month, and my fingers are crossed that the results are still improving. @DJC3 - belated Happy Birthday to Paul . Yes, I did get that offer from DD, but I haven't read it yet. What exactly is the new site?
