Hi @IanBish. That broccoli looks like 'tendertsem' which is one of Monsanto's creations. I'm afraid it's no match for early purple sprouting broccoli, which should be ready for harvesting next month. It may have looked okay, but it wasn't all that great. I couldn't get the button mushrooms that I like, the steak was a bit chewy (it was grass-fed, 36-day aged, but you never can tell) and the broccoli wasn't that tasty (I think I prefer "normal" broccoli). But my CGM approves!
It was. I didn't realise it was created by Monsanto! I like the purple sprouting broccoli, as well as the normal stuff, so I'll look out for that. Thank you.Hi @IanBish. It is. I like Aldi's steaks, but my local one has closed for refurbishment, so this one was from Lidl. Their 10% Greek yoghurt is lovely though. We won't mention Lidl's wine though.Agreed, def hard to tell with steaks, haven't had a nice big steak for a while though.

Purple sprouting broccoli is one of my favourite vegetables, but I enjoy the vegetable that greengrocers call broccoli, as well. (Strictly speaking it's calabrese and greengocers have muddied the water referring to it as broccoli). It was. I didn't realise it was created by Monsanto! I got some high protein (low-ish carb) rolls from there around Christmas, and they were lovely, but they seem to be no more.Lidl has/d a lovely bakery section but alas not the section I'm visiting any more.
Prefer ALDI for sure, funnily I went to our local and it was a building site last week, missing it, so had to take a round trip.

Do you live near me, I wonder? Mine is a building site at the moment too.
Our Lidl sometimes has vacuum packed, cooked schweinhaxe on sale, on the Taste of Bavaria” weeks. No idea what to call todays meal, but it tasted pretty good for a thrown together meal.
I really like meatballs but 3 days is enough, even though I still had enough left of the mix to make meatballs for two more days.
So I fried a large onion, added the mince/cheese/onion/egg mix that was supposed to become meatballs, and a tin of tomatoes and let it simmer for a while.
After that I added chinese cabbage and some spices for the last 5 minutes.
Enough left for two more days but I guess I'd better freeze it.
I'm driving to Germany with a friend tomorrow to buy tobacco and booze, and have a leisurely walk around the supermarket in general.
I went there last summer as well, and the supermarket sold heated schweinshaxe which was pretty amazing, no such thing in my country. It's something like a giant pork lollipop! So now I'm hoping they still sell them, in which case I won't need a proper meal after coming home.

Our butcher has far more pork hocks than ham hocks because their cured meats are prepared elsewhere.Thank you. I used to get a ham hock to make soup with sometimes ( before our butcher retired and took the heart out of the village) but I guess ham’s been cured so it’s not the same. I’ll have to look out for a plain pork hock/knuckle, I’d like to try this.
