Luckily, I'm pretty relaxed, there was a cupboard they went in too, I'd hear them & go open the door & say hi. They got used to me & didn't run. There was nothing in there for them to damage or eat. The drawer was under a gas hob, how they found their way in. Everything was dishwashered or thrown & the gaps were filled with tin foil, it worked. We lived in the country, so it was one of those things, also found a dormouse had moved in upstairs in the attic, after finding neatly bitten through stashes of hazelnut shells. Bats down the chimney & in the basement there were all sorts, including toads that crawled under the garage door, it was a proper nature reserve.…What are you gonna do
Oh mouse, fair play about not killing them.
Blimey they took a liking to that cheese plane!
I would be apoplectic if they had gone near my kitchen drawers. I was putting stuff inside bags and wiping every surface, bleaching the place from orbit every morning when I wasn’t sure where they were going in the house or where they were coming from. Maybe a bit over paranoid but the thought of them running about leaving germs everywhere made me shudder. To the point I couldn’t be bothered with the morning ritual any more so I ended up installing a camera in the kitchen and never seen any in there since making sure I kept the door shut. difficult if out in the sticks and things are more open plan, older properties.
Dinner was indeed an odd combo of bacon, and weirdly some cheap coleslaw from the shop as it was almost given away (I should really make my own)
Of course, you're right, they aren't as fearsome as they seem to be to me. But that's the whole point about phobias. They are not based on common sense but on something deeper in the subconcious which can't be explained. As I said - maybe I was a fly in a past life.Evening @ravensmitten.
Yes, spiders have had a bad press. These little chaps (chapesses too) are nowhere near as fearsome as is sometimes made out.
How did my life suddenly get so chaotic and busy? Not complaining at all, I had a wonderful week, but lack of sleep and too much booze is starting to catch up with me. Birthday party tonight, so one more day of too much booze and to little sleep to go.So far, I've eaten some deviled eggs my friend provided, and part of the dry sausage my friend gave all 3 of us as a thank you
Tonight will be the last of my andijviestamppot, and tomorrow will be my birthday party, which will likely be a bit messy, diabetes wise, which is fine, if I plan for it.
All lies! And also the first food since that dried sausage I had yesterday in the early afternoon, which means I had an accidental 23 hour fast.
All lies!
I completely forgot I treated a nighttime hypo with a very tasty piece of 'appelflap' I found in my neighbour's kitchen. Its sugared puff pastry with an apple filling.
Two pots of soup are ready, mini meatballs for the tomato soup as well, cooked separately with a stock cube so the soup itself is vegetarian. I made a couple of plates with liverwurst, dried sausage, and cheese cubes, put mustard in two small bowls with a lid, grated cheese for the onion soup, and washed all my bowls and spoons, hopefully I have enough.
I ate one of those mini meatballs, quite a lot of soup by taste testing, a cheese cube and a piece from both sausages, and I drank a cup of the now meaty vegetable stock I cooked the meatballs in.
Guests should arrive any moment and I'm ready for bed to be honest.Sure I'll perk up a bit with a campfire and a beer though.
I guess I'd better brew a pot of coffee and tea, and find some chairs for guests to sit on in the garden.

I haven't done chaffles in years! I used to add to eggs and cheese mix a teaspoon of pysillium husk to give it a different texture ( not the one that turns baking purple - the blond version) and then switched to add small amount of oat fibre but my chaffle machine stopped working and I started buying low carb bread and rolls. I used to use the PH and oat fibre in hm LC bread but stopped making when found reasonable LC bread to buy.B-chaffle, bacon and fried egg. This chaffle recipe had egg, mayo and almond flour it was ok but I don’t like it as much as the egg&cheese recipe. @shelley262 I know you used to make chaffles, what was your favourite recipe? Anyone else make them?
L- h/m yoghurt with blueberries and seeds. More than a handful of the toasted coconut chips which are so easy to eat.
D- DietDoctor recipe https://eatapp.page.link/7LEKbvoNzW4dASxF7 which is Tex Mex spiced mince and cabbage topped with cheese. Looks boring but it’s tasty and very filling. View attachment 66615

Evening @LivingLightly, I never got close enough to have a good look, they have good eyes & they jump, more than enough for me.
Evening @Rachox(I’ve had to skip through this thread the last few days as I am so afraid of spiders, hopefully you have talked it all through and will be back to food very soon pls!)
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and another carb killa bar.
Dinner: salmon and scrambled egg on a lightly toasted low carb roll.
