What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream (2 tsp) washed down with a black coffee
Lunch: 2 x boiled eggs with Marmite soldiers made from one slice of HiLo, followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid-afternoon: Prèt a Manger coconut bite and a black coffee.
Dinner: cold roast chicken with cauliflower, broccoli and radish salad, pork scratchings and coleslaw followed by Breyers high protein ice-cream.

@shelley262 I’m so pleased your ear infection seems better, earache is horrible.

@Goonergal well done on kickstarting your weightloss again with OMAD. Hope you have a great time with your sister on Sun which cake are you making in her honour?

Things have been a bit easier the last couple of days:
yesterday B: omelette with feta and spinach

L: day trip to Eden project with grandaughter, she chose burgers for lunch so I had one with bacon and cheese but didn’t eat the bun.

D: took your advice @Goonergal and cooked for everyone, made DD keto garam masala chicken. My daughter loved it but said she couldn’t bear to watch the amount of butter I used!

Today
B: scrambled egg, smoked salmon, avocado. Coffee and cream

L: out at a great pub in Falmouth with no. 3 daughter, jerk chicken with a lovely fresh salad and lime mayonaise. Diet coke

D: out with no1 and no3 daughters at a fab fish restaurant in Truro, fresh Cornish Megrim sole with asparagus and samphire. A bottle of Sauvignon blanc between us.

Bg readings have been a lot better these last couple of days, which is a great relief.

Evening all. Still puzzled as to exactly how to proceed so decided on an OMAD day. In the end I haven't yet eaten the raspberries an yogurt I planned partly due to how filling the salad was and partly due to concern about carb load in 1 meal. I am probably hugely over thinking all this as I have definitely had too little food today even for my reduced size. Anyhow the menu as such is below:~

B: 2 pint mugs tea with almond milk; small mug filter coffee with double cream
MMS: 2 pints tea with almond milk
L: Mug decaf coffee with double cream
MAS: 2 pints water; 1 with cider vinegar
D Mackerel, avocado and prawn salad (tinned mackerel); Lettuce, radish, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumber; EV Olive Oil vinaigrette with cider vinegar and Dijon mustard; chia seeds mixed with psyllium husk powder; Raspberries with Fage 5% Yoghurt and Inulin

Hi all. 8th consecutive day of OMAD. Felt quite hungry by mid-afternoon but a long walk in the sun distracted me.

Dinner was short rib of beef (delicious) followed by chocolate olive oil cake with clotted cream and a 25g bar of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference 85% chocolate. @DJC3 this was the cake made for my sister’s visit tomorrow - just checking that it is up to scratch!

Bed 7.2 FBG 7.1. Still fine all day but still going hoarse at night. Ah well no doubt it will go sometime. Niece was down today to see the progress on what was my brother's house. It's starting to come together now. I reckon it won't be too much longer before they can move in. I also have a huge lump on my head thanks to a silly woman at the 1st transition session at the school. Took No 2 for his first transition day and they were shown around. In the dining hall I was just at the door, she knocked me , went Oh my bag and stepped aside smartish as the heavy door swung across bouncing off the back of my head en route. As many of you know I'm on crutches so I can't make a hasty withdrawal. She didn't even apologise. Think I'll wear a hard hat to next week's session.
B. Slice Tesco high protein bread with pate. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing - out doing a week's shop.
D. Slice each roast pork leg, ox tongue, turkey and roast beef. Lettuce, Santini tomatoes, 3 walnuts, coleslaw, an aubergine thingie I found in Tesco and the wonderful Tesco Edamame and cauliflower crush I was going on about previously. I suspect Halo Top and raspberries may come later.

MIL sayings of the day. Since its Saturday you can have a bonus one. She was very fond of Only Fools and Horses. She particularly liked the one who used to be in Porridge , you know that Bell Boy??
(She'd confused it with Open All Hours and Ronnie Barker).

This one took days to work out. "It is such a shame for all these plastic people. So sad there is no cure".

Hi all
Breakfast coffee and cream - busy out shopping
Lunch mushroom omlette
Dinner - on pre dinner reading my ketones were very high and bgs very low on my new meter which arrived today, so had some walnuts with my gin and soda, then chicken curry and one slice low carb bread fried in coconut oil followed by home made low carb lime mousse. I’m stuffed ! Must get back to three small meals not good at a large meal anymore ...........
@Goonergal enjoy your time with your sister tomorrow.

B: Tea with almond milk

L: at a posh hotel in Mawgan Porth on the balcony. Duck confit followed by sea trout on a broad bean, pea and bacon lardon mash up then a small amount of Cornish cheese. 2 glasses Chablis ( which cost more than the meal!!)
Didnt touch the bread basket though it looked delicious- all homemade, but did succumb to 1/2 a seedy cracker ( also homemade) with the cheese. Bg at 2 hrs was 7.8 so it could have been the cracker, the broad beany thing or any hidden ingredient. I’m not stressing about it now.

D: didnt expect to be hungry but by 7:30 I was. Finished off the beef brisket in the fridge with some cauli cheese. Glass of red.

@Goonergal good idea to test before offering the cake, I’m sure she’ll love it.

@maglil55 your poor head! Hope you don’t get too big a lump. Thanks for todays saying.

@shelley262 did you feel ok when your ketones went high?

Good to hear you’re enjoying yourself. I felt really starving and a bit low on energy clearly not enough food For my body. Loving hearing about all these amazing meals out you’re having keep it up.

Glad you are ok now. I hadn’t realised that high ketones could be a problem for people who are not taking insulin so its a good thing you have a monitor that measures both.

Not really a problem as such as it just means you’re running on fat - it’s just that when you haven’t got much fat on your body you need to feed it fat! I’ve been lowering my fats a bit too because of my cholesterol so felt it with hunger and low energy - but it’s totally safe only side effect is weight loss! Which I don’t want any more hence three small meals are probably better idea for me.

Ah yes, I’d forgotten you’d mentioned your cholesterol before. It’s a tricky balancing act I guess.
You’ve done so well with your diabetes though, with amazing weight loss and A1c so I’m sure you’ll suss the cholesterol conundrum too.

I’m planning a private cholesterol test next week - it’s one done by post - as an interim to see if it’s working or not! Cholesterol is a big conundrum I’d be ok with about 7/8 it’s just the 13 is very high. Don’t like to have such a high figure when all rest are good.

Hi everyone hope you’ve all had a lovely day and have had a share of the gorgeous sunshine.
No breakfast today, early hair appointment so just a coffee
Late breakfast or was it early lunch? Whichever I just had the remainder of some chicken and chorizo skewers, ham and Stilton cheese cubes
Just been for a carvery at a local pub, didn’t get to test before eating as I forget my meter but have just tested, 6.3 one and a half hrs after first bite, will test again at 2 hrs just in case, I did have 2 small roast potoates and a small Yorkshire pud, naughty I know ;)

I made cheesecake today, i have adapted my family favourite recipe for myself by making my base from peanut butter and cocoa nibs rather than biscuits, the actual cheesecake should be fine as it’s cream cheese, cream and jelly. I made tiny individual bite size ones in little paper cases for me.

Edited to update BG readings at 2 hrs 6.8 and now at just over 3 hrs 5.9

Your cheesecake sounds scrumptious!

I can understand that, good luck with the test.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream, washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch at Patisserie Valerie: eggs Benedict with mushrooms in place of the brioche with Diet Pepsi.
Mid-afternoon at Nèro’s: small cappuccino and a smuggled in PhD bar.
Dinner: prawn cocktail with salad of cauliflower, broccoli and yellow mini tomatoes, pork scratchings and coleslaw followed by a Breyer high protein choc ice.
