Portion control will be important!
It is interesting how a 100% bar can be double carb count of a 90% dark bar! You really do need to check the smallprint
How lucky, I have 2 squares of Lindt 90% in the house, that’s it, no chocolate stash anywhere I feel very deprived nowView attachment 27984 My birthday stash for @Goonergal
D: Pork joint done in IP!!!
A resounding success!
Agreed, chocolate is good regardless of the weather xI also have buttons in cupboard but think you beat me! We will need chocolate though as weather cools!
Evening all
My numbers have been gradually increasing over the last week or so - since Ive been in Cornwall really. I’m putting it down to a drop in exercise - no exercise bike here and a lot of time spent sitting in sunny gardens chatting and drinking wine. Eldest daughter drinks mostly white but said she’ll buy red for me now after I told her my sugars were going up. What a thoughtful girl.
B: none, in an effort to reverse the trend I missed breakfast today and Tues.
L: at local pub, chicken fajitas without the fajitas. Had extra salad and mayo with the sizzling chicken, plus of course sour cream and guacamole.

A resounding success! Thumbs up from Mr C, youngest daughter and her boyfriend. The recipe I used cooks the joint on a bed of veg ( cauli, onion, celery, garlic) which are all then liquidised at the end and added to sauteed mushrooms to make the sauce.
Question to IP owners - how do you wash the lid? Is it ok to submerge the whole thing in water or just wipe it out?
Well done!
Its a triumph, isn’t it?
Wot you planning next?![]()
Well done on embracing the cauldron as you are. I'm glad you've had a success.
To be honest, I find it's mainly condensation on the IP lid, so I just wipe it off then wipe down the lid and check the sealing ring. When not in use, I store the lid upside down on top of the pot, which helps ensure the silicon ring airs well and any smells that might tend to cling can be aired away.
If you use Facebook, there is a fab official IP UK group on there which I found to be majorly helpful in my early days - especially as I didn't know anyone else with a cauldron at that time.

The head may be a problemIve ordered 1/2 a lamb from the butcher, got a bit carried away, I’ll pick it up tomorrow so will put the meaty neck bones in next I think.![]()
Thanks for the tips, I will take them all.
I don’t use fb much but I’ll look out the IP group.
Good idea to store the lid upside down.
Good evening. I am mobile today and able to exercise so much happier. A day of eating to ameliorate the more pressing problem with only half an eye on bg levels. @Goonergal I hope the mystery virus clears with lower temperatures and rest; @purplepenguin I hope the eyesight issues abate asap. Food list below:
Breakfast 3 pints tea with h/m almond milk; Hartley’s 10 cal jelly; 2 dessert spoons Fage 5%; 2 dessert spoons inulin and flaxseed mix
Mid morning snack: 2 pints tea; 1 had 2 tsps inulin
Lunch: Egg, cheese and avocado; salad; PSP in dressing and plenty of chia seeds for topping
Afternoon snack: 2 pints tea; ½ one of our chocky high fibre bars;
Evening meal: Still to come - not very happy eating this late; 2 Chicken thighs; roast courgette and tomato from our garden; roast broccoli; h/m mayo; water
This is the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/InstantPotUKCommunity/ . I can't recall if any/all of the others are members there, but then I'd never recognise them anyway!
Glad to be of service. Serves 2 major functions. Without lots of fluid I succumb to a family tendency to gout and it helps fill me up at lowest carbs I can get with homemade almond milk. I have at least 2 1.5 pints mugs from way back.Hi @ianpspurs your posts often make me chuckle with 3 pints tea here and 2 pints tea there.
Me too I just give it a wipe and dry off with kitchen towel. I sometimes remove the silicon ring and give that a wash. Also , I have a pack of 2 spare silicon rings stored with my other IP bits and bobs - drivers, cake "tin" etc. Like to be prepared for any eventually (And Amazon had them on offer at the time).Well done on embracing the cauldron as you are. Not drivers - trivets! Need to watch auto correct a bit more.Me too I just give it a wipe and dry off with kitchen towel. I sometimes remove the silicon ring and give that a wash.
