What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Thanks - its all a learning curve atm but very enjoyable.
Can I ask, do you put the broth on the ‘broth/ soup’ setting (30mins) or manually put in a longer time? I read somewhere else on this forum 2hrs.

I use manual (pressure cook) for a couple of hours. Some of the chicken bones will just disappear and some will go squishy as they are so leached of goodness. :)

I tend to start it before going to bed then once to cooking time is done, it stays overnight on Keep Warm and I sort it out in the morning.

Should I choose to make the stock into soup, as opposed to just drinking the bone broth, then I'll lob some veg (or whatever, into the stock, then use the Soup setting. Once finished, I might wield the stick blender or not, as the case may be.

Noooo! Spare me from IKEA!
I am thinking of calling on you and Brunneria with a truck load of apples, though.
:D

Wilco and Tesco do Kilner-likeeeee jars too, but the IKEA also do spare gaskets for theirs if you want/need them. We have loads!

Out for the day in Southsea/GunWharf Quays
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: (packed lunch) cold chicken tikka with cauliflower and broccoli salad followed by Greek yoghurt and blackberries.
Mid afternoon: cappuccino at Neros with a peanut PhD bar.
Dinner at Hungry Horse: full English breakfast of egg, bacon, tomato, mushroom, sausage, salad in place of baked beans and I only ate one hash brown, OH got the second one!

Aggh, no! Have enough jars, get them cheap from chandlers here. Only thing lacking is will to process them.
Unless, evil though perhaps,I just feed them to the pigs, who will process them into nicely flavoured pork and apple sausages eventually.

I will mention @shelley262 here, she has a lovely lemon drizzle recipe that I am sure she will share when she sees this.
@CoastGirl I’ll direct message you later this morning and send you the most recent draft of the recipe book I’ve put together which has lemon drizzle in. Need to be at PC for file etc so later this morning

Hello peeps, the LCHF funny food has been in full flow today but my BG levels have been terrible. After 7s and 8s last night they were dropping nicely to below 7 at midnight then climbed from 1am to 9.2 by 7am up to 12 by 11am despite a 5km run at 9am. Only food was coffee with cream and keto coconut porridge at 7.30am The same porridge on Thursday night didn’t push my BG above 7.2. Ham and eggs and a stop for a glass of red during a 5mile walk from midday and it crept down to 6.3 by 5pm. Keto pizza and a lamb chop at 8pm and BG7.4 at 10pm so not too bad now.
All a bit hard to understand, any comments would be much appreciated.
Do you maybe have a bug lurking? I've just had a few days where DP kicked back in and a day later achy limbs, stuffy nose etc followed. Settled down again after a couple of days. It's like having a built in early warning system of impending infection. It doesn't even have to be a bad infection to upset the delicate balance - mild upsets it too.

Agree there, it is an amazing early warning system. Do you also have any means of checking resting pulse, the 2 together are very telling.

@jayney27 - is the picture of the toast with the sesame seeds the Jennifer Banz 90 second or the Diet Doctor Mug Bread? I'm assuming from the shape it's the Jennifer Banz one.
@DJC3 - interesting web site that one jenniferbanz.com - first time I've come across it.

My daughter put me onto it but Ive copied quite a few recipes and so far they’ve all been good. - It has a lot of IP recipes too!

@jayney27 I got the carb count wrong for the 90 sec bread, its 3g (not 5 as I originally put - must have been thinking of my complete meal carb count that day)

Its designed to be cut in 2 horizontally so you get 2 slices of 1.5 carbs. I had 1 bit fried with my breakfast today, pretty good.

I've just had a slice. I oiled the container then sprinkled sesame seeds over the bottom. Added the mix, gave it a few taps then sprinkled more sesame seeds over the top. Microwaved 2 mins then removed it from the container and toasted. Next attempt I'll split it then toast. I'm also wondering about using a tablespoon of sesame oil for the fat in the mix to try to overcome the eggy aroma? Not eggy enough to put me off but still there. For speed, texture and mostly taste I can live with that.
Just thinking , split and toasted it would be very acceptable with pate.

Yes I think its better if split first. I think it helps that it looks like a slice of bread, being square.
Pate would be good with it I reckon too.
I chucked a few linseeds in the mix this morning to give a bit of a granary type of effect.

I’ve only had Keto coconut porridge at 9am but my BG did it’s usual creep up to 10.5 during the morning but after a couple of hours gardening it’s down to what for me is a good 6.9 :-)
If I remember rightly you're not too long diagnosed in which case if you're not unwell it's just good old dawn phenomenon. It took months for me to rid myself of it and even then (as I said earlier) it returns if I'm unwell. Also remember there was the discussion before that strenuous exercise without giving the body something to burn also can cause a rise in BGs (although they tend to drop back later).
They will stabilise eventually. It's a question of finding what works for you
