What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: halloumi chips with cauliflower, broccoli and yellow tomato salad followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: chocolate phd bar with black coffee.
Dinner at Hungry Horse: steak, tomato, mushroom, one onion ring and side salad followed at home by SF Jelly and cream.

I am not really game to post what I just had for breakfast just now, however, my usual cheese and mushroom omelette 'cept made with four eggs this morning, bacon, tomato and a reheated spud lite tater.

Could not see any point in putting a single egg back into the fridge. :meh:

Four mugs of heartstarter black coffee with no sweeteners before and after breakfast.

Ten assorted items of medication.

Edit: bought to many vowels.

Well done and well deserved!

I was reading through the success stories earlier, I hadn’t seen your ‘before’ photo - you look at least 20yrs younger now! Really fantastic!
Where are the success stories?

Not had chance to read all posts here for a day or so. Will try to catch up tomorrow, as you all have some brilliant ideas and suggestions.

Wednesday:
B.. Decaff coffee and cream
L.. Portobello mushroom grilled with double gloucester cheese with onion and chives,
D.. Ginger chilli pork stir fry, with veg, pepsi max
Supper,.. Glass of coconut milk.

Thursday: had a lousy day. Injured my foot by dropping a 500g tub of emollient cream on it then following that up with a full bottle of 500ml water which was like a torpedo hitting the top of my foot, which still bears the indentation in rainbow colours some 14 hours later.
B: Greek yogurt with strawberries, which sent my BG much higher than a banana and yogurt ever did
L: low carb muffin with peanut butter, a decaff followed by a large caffinated black coffee.
D: salmon and cream cheese stuffed peppers, lots of low cal tonic water, imagining the gin I didn't add to it on account of the painkillers.
Supper: ( which I don't usually bother with, but heyho, can't sleep.) I had all the ingredients for one of @Goonergal 's famous almond butter, cream and choc puds so What the heck foot up, ice pack on and tucking in. I'm hooked! :)

I'm not posting today's as it hasn't really begun yet, however i will post yesterdays. I really seriously blew it big time and so very disgusted with myself. After 6 months of LC diet and never cheating not once. No breads, rice, pasta, cereals, flour, cookies and you get the drift so here goes. Went to the doc's for my latest a1c and after that went to a road house and we ordered for B. Bacon and so much of it you wouldn't believe plus 2 eggs on 2 slices of white toast and a cappuccino coffee:(. I felt so ridiculously guilty that for lunch i had the usual nothing because still guilty. Needless to say the finger pricking test was 8.7 and didn't come down until the night. D.1 lamb chop and green vegies. This is the next day and for the love of me i still don't know why i ate the bread as i didn't want it and it sat in my stomach like a log.:(. Ok shame is now over and must get on with it. Off now to ring the GP for latest a1c, and not feeling great about it either.

Oh, @Moggely, first rule in a slip up is to forgive yourself.
So you had the items of non-low carb, bread and a cappuccino. First transgression, and you say you didn't even enjoy it. That is a pity. Maybe you have used that food as a coping mechanism for anxiety about the blood test? It is unlikely to have made too much of an impact, so perhaps relax, work out if my suggestion is right, then plan for next time you are anxious about something. Have a reward that doesn't involve food at the ready so you don't need the bread and cappuccino.

Ouch!
I’ve done a similar thing and it REALLY hurts doesnt it? Glad the almond butter pud is helping to cheer you up.

Think @DJC3 was referring to a booklet put together by @Debandez for the upcoming event in Birmingham on 1st September. Diabetes.co.uk are going to be using it. Too large to share via the forum - at the moment it’s been shared with contributors via email.

Yes I was referring to the booklet, sorry not to make that clear @maglil55
Do you know how it’s eventually going tobe shared on the forum @Goonergal?

Ooops, sorry. Misunderstood. Though there are some amazing stories in the sub-forum I quoted, too.

Edit:
I think information regarding the stories referred to is here:

No, not sure how or when. @Debandez should know more

The inspirational stories booklet is finished and ready for the event. DCUK love it and just want to.make some minor amendments. Once this has been done they themselves will be adding it to their DCUK social media sites, DCUK Facebook and DCUK twitter. I'm just away at the moment but on Sunday I'm going to be posting an update. Where we are up to re event and the leaflets/booklets we have prepared for it. It's going really well. Lots of support from every angle. Can't thank people enough.

Hi all. Having a hungry day today. So far:

Breakfast - was heading out for the day feeling unusually hungry. As early for my train darted into a cafe for bacon and eggs.

Lunch - M&S Serrano ham and manchego cheese rollitos that I’d taken with me.

Dinner - Waitrose beef steak hache (which it seems is just a posh name for a burger), buttered cabbage followed by a slice of lemon zucchini cake, another of the high fibre chocolate bars and extra thick double cream.

Snacks - 25g almonds and just polished off a bag of Moon Cheese.

Yay it’s Friday.
Been another busy day with 2 more work training sessions completed.
No breakfast as I wasn’t feeling hungry, however the extended fasting period from last night did nothing to bring my numbers down, they continue to rise regardless of eating a breakfast or not and regardless of the type of things I eat for breakfast!
L earlier than normal so I could take a break between sessions and fit in a walk - pepperoni slices zapped in the microwave, cucumber, 2 cherry tomatoes, cream cheese as a dip
During my walk I found myself ordering a small cappuccino at the onsite restaurant, not sure how that happened but it is lovely coffee
PhD bar when I got home
D beef burgers nestled in large flat mushrooms with sliced cherry tomatoes, gherkins and mozzarella
I have a new red wine to try tonight and there is zucchini cake winking at me every time I look in the fridge, will try to give it a miss tonight though as I’ve eaten a lot of calories this week already, been good with the carbs but weight has been stable for 2 weeks and I would like to drop a few more pounds before my holiday in October so i need to be a bit stricter with myself.

Good evening bar folk and non bar folk. Very bizarre day in parts possibly down to 3 poor nights sleep and summer? cold. 3rd day running woke before 4 with high temperature unable to go back to sleep. Got up each day and drank even more tea than my usual lake. Tiredness probably mistaken for hunger triggering a weird guilt session at 13.00 hrs staring into a fridge for ages almost loathing myself for eating - wasn't even high carb:arghh:
4.30-13.00 Pints and pints of tea
13.20 - 2 smallish chicken thighs and 30-40 gms Gruyere - surely low carb; the whole of a 1 hr walk was then spent arguing internally about silliness of feeling guilty about wanting to eat:arghh:
18.30 Salmon fillet with broccoli and mint puree - that was a first and is a keeper
Hopefully, you all had better days and I sleep better so common sense returns.:banghead:

I was gong to say don't be so hard on yourself re calories and weight but it seems you have read my post so would just laugh.

No laughing, this conditions sees me experiencing many ups and downs, good positive thoughts and many dark ones, lots of head scratching and pondering in general, all we can do is keep moving forward and trying our best. X

I agree with you both @jayney27 and @ianpspurs self doubt and head scratching and staring into the fridge are all commonplace in my home too.

B: smoked salmon, scrambled egg, avocado and coffee and cream

L: a sort of courgetti carbonara which was really just a fry up with parmesan on top. Followed by one of the failed CCBs from yesterday, like you found @Goonergal mine was rock solid but better than yesterday by far.

MAS experimenting with caramel ( again) and ate quite a lot of it with my small remaining amount of dark chocolate. I might just buy the 2.5 kg bag of Callebaut, resistance is futile - I’ll designate its own cupboard.

D: 2 smallish lamb chops and a local butcher’s homemade sausage with cauliflower mash and a glass of red.
