No worries, we have to see these things in real life! Well done for resisting. My tastes have changed so much since going low carb. I’d have eaten a huge slice of that no problem before but the thought actually makes me a bit queasy these daysI did wonder if I should post it, sorryI didn't actually eat any as the smell made me feel sick!
Oh yes I would have too - I'm not diabetic but just inside the prediabetic range so theoretically I can still eat what I like ... but I don't want it to progress any further so I'd rather take action now. It's not so bad - for dessert I had chocolate halo top and double cream. What's not to like about that!No worries, we have to see these things in real life! Well done for resisting. Breakfast: overnight oats made with coconut milk, desiccated coconut and chia seeds. BlueberriesView attachment 28283
Hi all. A bit out of sorts today - tired and dizzy and BG running about 1mmol higher than usual throughout the day. Didn’t stop me traipsing all round central London in search of Hotel Chocolat cacao breakfast tea - it is my favourite and is being discontinued so in short supply. Eventually tracked down about 6 months worth having visited 8 shops, of which 4 had stock,
.
It's very simple - I don't really measure but as a rough guess I'd say 2 tablespoons porridge oats, 1 tablespoon of desiccated coconut and a couple of teaspoons of chia seeds. Enough coconut milk to cover dry ingredients (about an inch above) stir well, and pop in the fridge overnight. It thickens considerably so if it's too solid in the morning I just add more coconut milk. It's lovely - sweet and fresh tastingI’m trying to avoid looking at your beast of a chocolate cake!
I like the sound of your low carb overnight oats/ chia pudding breakfast though. I haven’t made it with coconut milk. What is your recipe?
I think My youngest daughter saw it years ago, a school trip to the theatre, part of her English course work, she loved it.Evening everyone
I’ve had a smashing day, started with breakfast out with most of the family:
Bacon, poached eggs, mushrooms and 1/2 grilled tomato. Coffee with milk ( no cream- boo!)
No lunch - went to Watergate bay, watched SIL surfing, granddaughters rockpooling and dogs running amok. Fantastic.
D: 2 glasses champagne, then lamb steak with broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Glass of red.
A little later had a sliver of brie with a few walnuts.
@shelley262 I hope you enjoy the Jersey Boys, Ive heard it’s brilliant. I’ve been wanting to see it for years - I keep dropping birthday present type hints but to no avail.

Yes I think it would be equally nice without the oats. As I mentioned I'm not diabetic - yet - so am still eating 'good' slow burn carbs in moderation xAh! Clue was in the ‘oats’ bit had I paid proper attention!
I can’t eat oats without a big bg spike now but I guess just making it with chia seeds and desiccated coconut and the coconut milk would be nice enough. I’ll give it a go, thanks for the idea.

Hope you’re feeling ok tomorrow.
Is the HC cacao tea the same as ‘Teaolat’ ‘ve had from there?
It’s a blow if it’s being discontinued.
Thanks. Still a bit under the weather, should be ok in a couple of days. Yes it’s the Teaolat - the ‘plain’ Assam one with cacao, not the ones with other flavours added.
Brilliant idea, well done, it looks good enough to eatMy own 'notella' for breakfast after a brainstorming session on how to make it yesterday.
I melted a square of 85% chocolate (all I had in the cupboard!) and mixed in some 3 nut (pecan, almond and peanut) butter. Short zap in the microwave to soften it et voila!
Much better than the nasty avocado based versionand if I melted it more it would make a lovely sauce View attachment 28289
A winner all round, excellent results and good news health wise re your shins. Hope you are feeling better in general and that you are basking in the glory of your results.Hi all. Still feeling under the weather - and amazingly hungry - but have had 2 pieces of good news today:
Firstly have joined @shelley262 in the 30 club - that is my new HbA1c (meter averages suggested a couple of points lower, but pleased to see a reduction) and secondly my MRI review on my shins revealed no bone, muscle, tissue or tendon damage. Apparently it’s just my body objecting after years of inactivity, so have the green light to continue as I am and just be guided by pain as to when to stop, safe in the knowledge that no damage is being done. Conversation with nurse was very positive - have posted in the success stories section.
On to eating. Consumed a vast amount today. Hungry all day.
Breakfast - 2 poached eggs and 2 rashers of bacon. Was very glad to have decided to eat when I arrived at the hospital to find an enormous queue - took 30 minutes just to book in!
Lunch - small fathead pizza with pepperoni topping followed by lemon zucchini cake with extra thick double cream.
Dinner - M&S Serrano ham and manchego cheese rollitos.
Snacks - lazy dessert of extra thick double cream mixed with almond butter and a 64g bag of salted almonds. 50g Sainsbury’s 85% chocolate.
Edited to add chocolate consumption!
