Brilliant - you had me at tomatoes but then garlic and onion + keeps in fridge for 6 months all good. You also gave me an idea for rhubarb and pears poached in PX sherry or port. Sod the bg afterwards.
Edit: Scrap that, maybe a way to use some of the many bottles of Madeira I have. A job for the sous vide methinks.
You have started something now- I am yearning for a foie gras salad with Monbazillac (another mega stash) sorbet - the foie may well flatten the potential spike. Oh yeah, I might eventually find some love for the WOE but don't hold yer breath

I must admit I use smaller Kilner jars (c250ml) to keep it in, so that when I open one we get through it relatively quickly, rather than opening and closing bigger jars loads and loads of times.

I had a bit of a splurge on variously sized Kilner-styleeeeee jars in IKEA some time ago.

Thanks for the "heads up" Nearest IKEA is Milton Keynes - no-one should have to suffer that indignity.

Oh, when I have the dubious pleasure of visiting IKEA with my OH, I usually leave with whiplash, such is the pace he navigates the place.

Predictably, I usually end up going on my own. Our nearest is only about 15 miles away.

I read OH, whiplash and pleasure - I now have images I really need to get rid of:arghh:

Edit 2 hrs later: Made the veg stock so made good use of Nutribullet and IP. First time ever using tumeric root. The stock seems a little salty even though we toned it down. However, once mixed into dishes it should be fine. Also, we have learned loads and will develop sauces/stocks of our own now we have an idea to tweak. Thanks for that @DCUKMod :)

Oh, it's not something to dip a spoon into to taste; just as things like Knorr (other brands exist) Stock Pots are. As you say, a dollop into a dish is the way forward.

For me, adequate seasoning, as I cook, is a weakness for me, so that rather helps me out with that, and of courseit's a great way of using vegetables - and even "tired" ones.

Feisty Tapas does some lovely things. It's not all LC, although she does liver lower carb herself, but her blogging and IP support services are what earns her money.

I used to love crystalised ginger, and only the other day I was musing of trying to make some with a lower-carb crystalisation.Any ideas, you sweet liking folks? @maglil55 , @ianpspurs , @Goonergal or anyone else for that matter?.

Not a ginger fan, but given that Monkfruit works well for caramel, might it be adapted for use with ginger. This cooking/baking lark is pretty new to me, so hope that’s a sensible suggestion!

Hi all. Feels like an indulgent day today but will shortly be off swimming to wear some of it off.

Lunch - I should be on commission. M&S Serrano ham and manchego cheese rollitos and a few of their chorizo crisps. Wasn’t loving them so gave the rest to a colleague.

Snack - peckish so had 25g almonds and 2 squares Tesco 85% chocolate.

Dinner - small fathead pizza (have adapted recipe to a side plate sized pizza) followed by 17g Montezuma’s Absolute Black with orange and cocoa nibs and a lazy dessert of clotted cream mixed with almond butter.

Just looked up monkfruit, 100g fructose per 100g. Is this not a problem for us?

Autumn certainly arrived red in tooth and claw. Hope everyone stayed warm, safe and had a good day and all under the weather members are recovering. Early waking took the steam out of my day and ability to fast all day. No idea how medieval peasants managed 3 days fasting and manual labour 4 times a year.
Menu:
Wakey Wakey + Breakfast : Mid morning: Lunch : Mid Afternoon: Tea, coffee bone broth - found the IP’s metier at last
Evening meal: 2 Portabello mushrooms with smashed avocado inside topped with 2 poached eggs or fried eggs haven't eaten yet.

You'll be fine, when you've settled into your IP. :)

Evening everyone. It’s been a glorious day here - sunny and windy, perfect for a walk in the countryside. Still missing a canine companion to take with us but enjoyable nonetheless

B: cheese and mushroom omelette

L: CCB - tried these again. Each batch has been different so far and I’m still not sure Ive got the recipe right yet - the inulin didn’t dissolve in the butter- tasted fine though.
20g walnuts.

D: Finally! Ribs in the IP! I asked Mr C what he wanted with them - he said ‘a bottle of red’. Not quite what I meant but thats what we had - much easier than cooking veg. The meat was fall off the bone delicious.
Now having a sliver of brie with another glass of wine while Mr C gets the fire going.

My friend is on Bake off an Extra Slice tonight - she asked me to go with her but irritatingly I’d promised to babysit on Sunday when it was filmed. The cake she took looked fab though.

Hope you feel better soon @jayney27. Of all the illnesses I get having a cold brings out the biggest baby in me:bigtears:

Very, very wild here. Emley Moor even got a mention on national weather for wind speed

Breakfast - High lo toast and butter
Lunch - Last of pate, salad, rollitos, and olives. Strawberries and extra thick cream.
Dinner - Lo-dough steak pasty, carrots, brocolli and cauliflower with gravy. Slice of almond bread with butter.
Snacks - Salted almonds and two squares of 90% Lindt

Not sure about the pasty, don't think I'll try that again. Not too bothered about never eating pie again, just the bread I miss (see above repetative breakfast of Hi lo toast):p

ps. Booked in today for flu jab

Bread is my biggest missed food item too, I love fresh bread, really haven’t found anything that’s 100% acceptable as a substitute. Health has to come first though :banghead:

Thank you @shelley262 I hope I feel better tomorrow too, I’m not good at being a patient, rarely unwell so don’t like feeling weak and useless.
I hope your holiday is everything you hope for, beautiful weather, enjoyable food and some quality time with Mr G xx
