Hello all.

@jayney27 -- So sorry to hear that you are still not feeling better. A cold definitely is no fun -- ever. Keeping my fingers crossed that things will be improving soon.

@shelley262 -- Hope you have a grand time in Greece. Enjoy your vacation.

Been using a lot of test strips today, kind of trying to get a feel how I react to different foods. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results. A longer eating window definitely seems to suit me better.

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol. Two scrambled eggs with cheese. Strawberries with erythritol-sweetened cream.

Lunch-time snack: About 20g of 88% chocolate.

Dinner: Out at our new favorite French tapas place. Two glasses of red wine, two tiny servings of rabbit liver in cognac-cream sauce, a small cheese platter. Some shrimp upon getting home.

Evening everyone. It’s been a glorious day here - sunny and windy, perfect for a walk in the countryside. Still missing a canine companion to take with us but enjoyable nonetheless

B: cheese and mushroom omelette

L: CCB - tried these again. Each batch has been different so far and I’m still not sure Ive got the recipe right yet - the inulin didn’t dissolve in the butter- tasted fine though.
20g walnuts.

D: Finally! Ribs in the IP! I asked Mr C what he wanted with them - he said ‘a bottle of red’. Not quite what I meant but thats what we had - much easier than cooking veg. The meat was fall off the bone delicious.
Now having a sliver of brie with another glass of wine while Mr C gets the fire going.

My friend is on Bake off an Extra Slice tonight - she asked me to go with her but irritatingly I’d promised to babysit on Sunday when it was filmed. The cake she took looked fab though.

I can't tell you how relieved I am you are getting along with your cauldron, having almost spammed you constantly before you jumped in.

Ribs a la IP are can be a bit special though.

Interesting about extended eating time and your bgs. It’s clearly all very individual think I’ll try some experiments when back from hols. Thanks for holiday wishes and also from you @jayney27 just one day now!

Today I did our weekly pilgrimage to the local butcher to back-fill our freezer and pick up our joint for Sunday. Whilst waiting, I was looking at the fare on display and spied some magnificent beef flat ribs. They'll be done on Monday.

I have done flat rib before in a couple of ways - as a casserole style, and I have also slooooooooow roasted some too. Both ways were good, but I'm sure I've noticed other posting they've had flat ribs. Are there any favourite flat rib recipes anyone would like to share?

Shelley, you can use it as a super-fast, slow cooker. Slow cooker recipes, with a bit less fluid (because virtually nothing evaporates) work extremely well. With the automatic Keep Warm functionality you aren't giving up the option to prepare your meal when you have the time or inclination. It'll just stay there all roastie-toasty waiting for you.

I must admit as we close in on November, I'd be mindful of Black Friday coming up in November, although I'm rather hoping they might launch the Mini for Black Friday.

I’m glad you did - I never even bothered to find cupboard space for it - it just sits on the counter in pride of place.

It really came into its own tonight as my daughter and her OH drove down from London. We’d already eaten and as they arrived starving I knocked up a curry in 10mins for them!!!!

Breakfast - none apart from a huge mug of tea. Not hungry but had plenty of energy to do a whole house tidy.

Lunch - eggs, bacon and wholemeal toast. SF jelly

Afternoon snack - jalapeño cheese and pecans (daughter's boyfriend has discovered this is a winning combo!)

Dinner - (out with family to a burger restaurant to celebrate said boyfriends new job) luckily a build your own burger place so I had 2 burger patties, no bun, swiss cheese, bacon and avocado and some sweet potato fries (only ate half). Delicious!

I used to love crystalised ginger, and only the other day I was musing of trying to make some with a lower-carb crystalisation.

Any ideas, you sweet liking folks? @maglil55 , @ianpspurs , @Goonergal or anyone else for that matter?

I also have rhubarb every morning, with my yoghurt for brekkers, although it'll likely start dying back soon.

Memo to self: Check the rhubarb patch after all these winds.

In the spirit of this thread, last night I just fancied soup, and as my OH was out to a golf club dinner, I went for it. Chicken stock, plus a frozen chicken (leg) portion, some home made vegetable stock (which I find excellent for seasoning), some curry-ish spices (cumin, coriander etc), some cauli florets and a bit of leftover swede that was beginning to look sad.

I slapped all that in the cauldron and hit the soup button, then gave it a decent ignoring. When I next remembered it (it had gone to Keep Warm), I removed the chicken to shred, and roughly blended the stock/veg mixture then added the chicken back, with the remains of some sour cream.

It was very, very tasty, but somewhat randomly un-recreatable (if that's actually a word).
It's a load of work.

Thanks for the "heads up" Nearest IKEA is Milton Keynes - no-one should have to suffer that indignity.
Ah....a town of roundabouts. We stayed at the Doubletree attached to the MKdons stadium (which is actually a nice hotel). Purpose was not for visiting Milton Keynes but Bletchley. It was one of these things I kept passing in my working days and thinking one day I'll go to Bletchley and we did.
I also found the concrete cows but not an IKEA. That place requires building up to a visit followed by something alcoholic and a darkened room. I am convinced they are designed to keep you in the place until you are forced to spend sufficient money to permit them showing you the exit to the maze.

On a catch up again. After my battling the gales on Wednesday , Thursday was just as busy as was Friday. Result ? I ended up with two unintentional OMADS.
Thursday Bed 4.6 FBG 5.2
Boys decided to walk to school with Mum and Dad which gave me time for a peaceful shower before heading to school to meet for a discussion on continuing No 1s progress. Had to eventually leave Mum & Dad to it as I had to collect Hubby, load luggage and get SIL and her Hubby back in the car and to the train station to head back to Manchester! After the goodbyes it was back home to drop Hubby then off to visit sister which is a 2 hour round trip. Winds had dropped sufficiently for the bridge not to be a problem. Returned in time to pick up a few odds and sods from Tesco, pick up boys from After School and take them back to ours to be fed. After depositing them home I finally decided on food for us.
B& L Nothing
D. A quick chicken red curry with oomi noodles followed by the last of the Breyers cookie dough with 6 raspberries.

Friday - busy as ever. Bed 5.3 FBG 5.9. Back on the school run. Had 2 manage 2 kiddies, one heavy birthday cake (no 1s birthday tomorrow) and all with a crutch. Got kiddies and cake safely into school , visited office for progress charts from yesterday, home for a coffe then off to physio. Back via M&S then straight to school to pick boys up (1/2 day on Friday). Despite best efforts of his classmates still a lot of cake remains). Got boys and cake back to car then to ours for lunch. No 1s interest in learning chess continues. Dropped No 2 back home, dropped hubby at pub then off to swimming with No 1. Picked up birthday presents before depositing No 1 and presents back home.
B & L Nothing apart from a coffee
D. Still had red curry mix so made a prawn red curry with cauliflower rice and stir fry veg. Breyers chic ice and a grenade brownie with a coffee.

Time for bed I reckon.

Bed 5.8 FBG 4.4. @DJC3 , @jayney27 - hope you are both recovering. @shelley262 have a wonderful holiday and yes I was exhausted. Fell asleep this afternoon but a short nap has perked me up. @ziggy_w - hope your blood results are good.
Today is No 1s birthday. When I went to collect Dad this morning for shopping he was surrounded by Lego and highly delighted. Niece's bathroom is finally finished too. Got 3 loads of washing and the shopping done before dozing off for 30 mins. Was wondering What To have today and tomorrow until @Goonergal jolted my memory with my crumb mix so....
B. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream. Slice of Tesco high protein bread with cheese savoury toasted on it.
L. Slice of ham and pork rolled around a couple of mini tomatoes, lettuce and cheese savoury.
D. Lettuce, tomato, 1/2 avocado, Helmanns and (thanks @Goonergal) the keto crispy sesame chicken strips.

https://lexiscleankitchen.com/sesame-chicken-strips/

As many of you know I add parmesan and parsley to the crumb but this is the crispiest keto crumb ever!
The remains of The crumb will have lemon zest added and will become the crumb for fish n chips tomorrow.

Posting now before Spurs let me down again and I suffer a red mist. Brilliant afternoon rediscovering Jackson Browne, Emmilou Harris and Gram Parsons. Hope the poorly folk recover soon and those going on holiday have a restful and enjoyable sojourn. Over 24 hrs since last food so counts as a lose interpretation of a fast and Ember week done - for 3 months. Evening meal is a kind of feast of harvest produce.
Menu below:
Wakey Wakey + Breakfast : Mid morning: Lunch : Mid Afternoon: Tea, coffee - with cream and Aldi Irish whiskey which has been kicking about for 2 to 3 years (only any good for that purpose)
Evening meal: Lamb shanks (from frozen) in IP with bone broth and veg stock made in IP; broccoli and cauliflower mash; small portion of blackberry and apple crumble with extra thick cream

Evening all. Raining most of the day today - sat in with feet up all afternoon.

Lunch - 2 fried eggs and 2 rashers bacon in cafe after my failed attempt at walking football.

Snacks - 65g salted almonds and about two thirds of a bar of Montezuma’s Absolute Black with orange and cocoa nibs.

Dinner - beef short rib followed by a bit of an experiment. One slice of Schneider protein Brot (been sitting in the fridge for weeks since first opened) with butter and almond butter. Tasted pretty good.

@maglil55 might give your sesame mix another go tomorrow.

Hmm. I see the 6L one is £111 on Amazon at the moment.

Have you heard of camelcamelcamel? It's a price watching site for (mainly for) Amazon, which tracks prices. You can put in a target price for an item, and if someone has it on offer, it'll highlight it.

You'll probably know, if you're a regular Amazon user, they'll often highlight deals directly too for anything on your Lists.
