What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

First off my organic raspberries had been replaced with non organic - bad but the driver told me much worse things happen like the time they substituted a bag of potatoes for a bag of crisps!

I once received a bag of bean sprouts as a replacement for brussel sprouts!

Hello

B - nothing
L- last of the foraged puffball mushroom on 1/2 toasted protein roll with an egg
D - butter chicken

Incredibly hungry today, not sure why but trying to ignore it. :(

Another fasting day - really seems to be working. My 7 day blood sugar average is 4.9 and weight loss has sped up.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - none

Dinner - 2 Waitrose free range Cumberland sausages, 2 rashers bacon, 1 Birds Eye original burger; 2 squares Lindt 90%

Drinks - 1 cup tea with semi-skimmed milk; copious amounts of San Pellegrino sparkling water and plain tap water

I once ordered umami paste and got marmite instead. 3 weeks in a row. Hahaha!
I worked in that industry for a while and the most famous one we had was when someone ordered petroleum jelly and got strawberry jelly...

Today has been a mamouth day - eaten too much but company and end to 5 days FMD.
Breakfast - Benacol followed by eggs, bacon and some mushrooms with a cup of tea.
Lunch - A costa latte - a treat first time since I can remember.
Dinner - Chicken and bacon, mushrooms, cabbage, one new potato (not had since diagnosis) and one low carb Yorkshire pudding.
Oppo salted caramel ice cream (very small portion...).

Tomorrow - back to LCHF.

I'm just impressed that I had a massive order and no blue bags with substitutes from Sainsbury's. They can put some weird ones in.

Update- 5.6 before eating, 7.9 after an hr, 6.8 after 90 mins. Apple not that nice, not worth the increase is it?

Today ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and a bit of xylitol. About three chili rellenos (Anaheim peppers filled with cheese and fried in scrambled egg).

Lunch: nothing.

Dinner: We ate out at our favorite tapas place -- one and a half glasses of Rioja, two small skewers of lamb, a handful of fried sardines and some green olives. They also serve baguette with aioli dip -- so I also brought one home-made low carb role along to eat with the dip (instead of the baguette).

Back at home: One table spoon of low carb mousse au chocolat.

Bloods are not playing the game today. Double figures upon waking.

B. Coffee with cream. 5 Pecan halves.
L. Cheese with a side of cheese, and an extra serving of cheese. (Wensleydale, Bavarian Smoked, Cheddar).
S. Two boiled eggs.
D. Felt absolutely awful by early evening. Cooked a fry up for my husband, so I had two rashers of bacon and some mushrooms. Couldn't face eating anything else.

Realised that with all the running around I've done today, I'd neglected to drink anywhere near a normal amount.
Topped up with decaf coffee, water, sugar free cordial. Feeling more human now.

Its amazing how awful not drinking enough can make you feel - I've had the same problem today. I get cracking headaches unless I drink enough.

Yes! Bed 5.1 FBG 5.7 pre breakfast was 5.9. I think I can say the infection has finally left me. Boys actually lasted until 8am before they awoke ready to forage for food. Will be taking them home in about 1 hr as lots to do.
The adapted DD day
B. 2 rashers of crispy bacon and 2 scrambled eggs. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream. (Can't find the morning coffee anywhere although the Americano grande is good too)
L. Marigold Swiss bouillon
D. Usual campari and soda and a wee prosecco (maybe even 2)
To start Diet Doctor garlic bread and "The Fishy one" ( It's the salmon version of that pate I get from Sainsbury's @Chook. They are all good)
Instant Pot on the go again.
Not Diet Doctor but still low carb. Adding baby onions and carrot to the mix too

https://www.dadcooksdinner.com/pressure-cooker-7-hour-leg-of-lamb-in-90-minutes/

Green veg medley of beans, broccoli, sugar snaps and peas. Cauliflower cheese and the carb eaters get boiled new potatoes. Must admit I like my lamb pink but this is a fall of the bone recipe but without the hours of cooking.
Carbers have a lemon and blueberry sponge I'll have some of the berries that go with it - mix of cherry, raspberry, strawberry and blueberry.
And that's it - back to pure Diet Doctor tomorrow.

Yesterday....

Breakfast: Eggs, bacon, low carb chipolatas, grilled tomatoes

Lunch: A ginormous cup of Costa Decaff with cream - I surprised myself by politely saying 'no' when I was offered freebie samples of Bakewell Tart and Bakewell Pudding at the market we were visiting (TBH I didn't know there was such a thing as Bakewell Pudding but it looked gorgeous).

Dinner: (Late - and BG down to a surprising 4.1) Mr Chook's stunning lamb and apricot curry, cauliflower rice and an aubergine side dish

Dessert/supper: Fresh raspberries and Alpro Chocolate Hazelnut icecream

Drinks: Coffee with cream for breakfast, coffee at Costa for lunch, sparkling mineral water during the afternoon (but not enough of it) and Prosecco during dinner prep and evening

Hi @Chook,

I remember reading this several times and I hope you don't mind my asking. What are chipolatas?
Don't know which brand @Chook gets ziggy but basically they are small, skinny sausages. There are 2 brands I tend to go for - Sainsburys gluten free or M&S 97% pork both of which are low carb. Heck are also good makers of low carb sausages particularly the chicken ones but Heck are more fatter sausage rather than skinny chipolatoes. Just to confuse matters further at Chistmas time we get tiny sausages also called chipolatoes.

Thanks so much for the info, @maglil55. Following your note, I looked them up on wikipedia. They do remind me a bit of merguez -- only that merguez are made from lamb. They certainly look deliciously.

I don't know if we get them in Germany -- but will certainly look out for them.

Yes that's about the shape of them but ours tend to be pork.
(Hubby worked in Germany for a couple of years before we were married).

Hi @ziggy_w :)

Like @maglil55 says, chipolatas are little sausages (which I get from my normal supermarket). They are the same length as the normal sausages but only half the width. They cook a lot quicker than ordinary size sausages and the type I buy are very low carb.

Been quite hungry today so a wider range than normal - been picking on pecans and almonds between meals
B - 3 rashers unsmoked organic streaky bacon, mushrooms, egg, 1 low carb pitta (josephs - expensive but nice)
L - was going to be mixed veg but Ive become a bit intruiged lately by Heba (south african low carb mix from ground flaxseeds, ground sunflower seeds, coconut flour, psyllium) that can be used as a substitiue for flour / porridge. Didnt have all the bits and havnt been able to buy any ( out of stock at Amazon) so I made up a mix of coconut four, sesame seed flour, psyllium husk powder, almond flour and erythritol and cooked it with water and some butter to make a porridgey type thing which was surprisingly nice with some greek yogurt a few blueberries and a few almonds - very filling
D- dont know yet, but Im currently in the process of making 2 batches of low carb muffins ( some blueberry ones and some coffee and pecan ones) and there is Oppo in the freezer - so they could just well feature!
