Hi all. Didn't think I'd be checking in while away but woken up to rain. Not just any rain, but full on, tipping down can't see more than a few yards in the murkiness rain. A relaxing, take it easy morning in the hotel is now planned.

Wednesday - travel day.

Breakfast - on plane. Cheese omelette with sausage (frankfurter type), veggies and side of cheese and cucumber.

Lunch - none.

Dinner. Oh dear. Started off well ordering a bunless burger and salad. Then allowed myself to order onion rings and cheesecake! Cheesecake turned up with syrupy stuff all over the plate (but thankfully not on the cake) so just ate the cheesy part and left the base and the syrup. Rise was not too bad up to 7.3 from 4.7, but took a while to come back down.

Yesterday - fasting day, which confirmed that it's much easier to fast while distracted by holiday activities. Must go away more often!

Breakfast - none

Lunch - none

Dinner - was just about to head out to dinner when they brought a whole load of food into the executive lounge. And would you know it, loads of it was low carb. A bargain free dinner was had (it's not cheap here). Assorted cold meat - salami, roast beef, chicken - with cheese (not sure what type), delicious chargrilled veggies (courgettes mainly) covered in garlic and salad. A much more acceptable rise of 0.8 mmols.

Morning all (25/8/17) at 8.15am
Another busy day ahead, hubby decorating, so we are off to look at wallpaper :watching::wideyed:
B - Jordan's nuts and seeds cereal with 100ml oaty 'milk' + tea
L - we planning to eat out, so might be a jacket potato with salad + camomile tea if poss
D - I made a veggie lasagna last night with vegan 'cheese' + add a salad
This is my 1st attempt at a lasagna with wheat free and dairy free, hope it tastes as good as it looks and smells! :cat:

Thursday...

Breakfast: Chia seed pudding with no added sugar Crusha milkshake stuff - (I am getting bored with this - 4 days is too long to have the same breakfast :( )

Lunch: Half a Lidl roll with pate and a small amount of chopped red onion

Dinner: Three rashers of middle bacon, three baked tomatoes and about twelve baked mushrooms

Drinks: Black coffee with breakfast and lunch then sparkling mineral water for the rest of the day

I must get some of this Crusha no added sugar stuff. I thought at first it was a lot of carbs until I saw they were including the milk too.

I use it either with Koko coconut milk (unsweetened) or Alpro roasted almond milk.

Rain well and truly stopped play today. One museum visit and a half hour walk during a brief dry interlude and a lot of chilling out. Another fasting day.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - none

Dinner - delighted that the hotel restaurant is a steakhouse, so easy to eat low carb. Ribeye steak with herb butter, creamed spinach, side salad with mayonnaise and a few nuts (4 Brazil nuts and 5 hazelnuts) to finish off

Drinks - 1 mug tea with cream, 2 cups tea with milk, 1 Diet Coke, 1.5 litres sparkling water

At the moment I'm eating chocolate covered M&Ms. I came back from a power walk and felt somewhat odd - tested as soon as I got back and was running at a 3.6 and dropping - so I grabbed some M&Ms - only time I ever eat them but do they ever taste good. The trick is to not eat too many of them. Lately my BG levels seem more sensitive to exercise - I've been caught twice this month - after my 5 K power walk - very odd - wonder what's going on with the exercise sensitivity .... could be the heat both times this month it was very warm. Anyway - I had vegetables with some hummous for lunch - went on my pwer walk and now I'm eating M&Ms Lol .....

I've fasted today so only drinks but just put our evening meal in oven honey glazed gammon joint sweet potatoe wedges with paprika and olive oil and Savoy cabbage cauliflower. So hopefully it will not spike my BG like the curry did yesterday. BG level at 5.50 pm 5,will check it before meal and 2 hours later around 7pm and after meal around 9 pm.K

Well I'm now back to previous good levels so I must be fully recovered. Well nervously to bed on 4.4 as I usually drop overnight. Stayed very steady and woke to FBG of 4.8. Even more amazing pre breakfast was only 5.
B. 2 scrambled eggs, 1 small slice black pudding, 3 cherry tomatoes. Tassimo Americano Grande with a dash of cream.
L. Urban Fruit triple toasted coconut and a Marigold Swiss bouillon.
D. Lettuce, 4 cherry tomatoes, 1/2 avocado, the other half of that aubergine roasted with feta, mozzarella and olive oil and 6 chicken wings.
2 bits of Lindt 90%.
My one issue is I am really hungry for some reason. No idea why.

Tea
B: Grapefruit, 2 eggs on Tesco finest pumpkin & sunflower seed bread
L: Chicken salad, a handful of blueberries & mullerlight Greek latte yogurt
S: small banana
T: slow cooker gammon, 4 baby potatoes, sugar snap peas & 3 large G&T's (bit of a reaction to a friend being diagnosed with colon cancer) & now on the red vino :(

Could only get the strawberry one with my online order so going to add it to coconut milk to make a strawberry chia pudding. I have fresh strawberries ordered too.

I've got raspberry this time - I really enjoyed the banana flavour (I really miss bananas :( ) but thought I'd try something different. It goes really well for a low carb drink with the Alpro roasted almond milk.

It has been a weird few days.
Lots going on, and very little time for the forum. lol

So basically it has been several repeats of
B: paleo porridge (very low carb)
L: a couple of table spoons of home made coronation chicken
D: homemade pulled pork with green salad and coleslaw.

Thank heavens for the Instant Pot. The chicken cooked in 27 minutes. The pulled pork took 30 mins. And there was enough food produced to keep the pair of us going for days!

Mr B is in LOVE with corry chick sarnies.

I think you're almost as evangelical as I am about the cauldron otherwise known as the Instant Pot.

To comply with thread requests, tonight's meal featured leftover Priya's Homemade Donner Kebab, and some very rich broccoli cheese.

The Donner was a bit disappointing (both times), but I'm confident it was my error in that the foil wrap had let some water in during cooking, and the minced meat wasn't fatty enough. I should have added more ground almonds to replace the breadcrumbs, but I live and learn.

Friday...

Breakfast: Chia pudding (same as yesterday AND the day before - I'm throwing away the rest - you can have too much of a good thing)

Lunch: Two crackerbreads and 100g pineapple cottage cheese

Dinner: Two tiddly lamb chops, cauliflower, broccoli, runner beans, gravy and mint sauce

Drinks: Black coffee with breakfast and mid morning then sparkling mineral water and a nice glass of red wine with my dinner (yes, I know I've gone over my calories but what the heck - its Friday!) :sorry: :(
