What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Time to get back to regular posts. Bed Wednesday 7.4 FBG 6.2.
B. 1/2 lidl high protein roll with lurpack, 2 Heck chicken chipolatos, fried egg and 2 rashers back bacon.
L. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
D. Chicken curry with broccoli. Halo cookie dough ice cream with 6 raspberries.

I've been erratic lately because I've been dealing with my brother's illness and death. We were very close so it's been tough even although it was expected. So I've lost weight and my BGs are sitting a bit higher but it's all down to stress/grief. Time to get back to planning food a bit better and stabilizing things again. I'm doing OK.

Very sorry for your loss @maglil55 very very impressed that you’ve been able to get back to this way of eating. It’s superstar material being able to pull back when you’ve experienced such an enormous loss take care and be kind to yourself too some low carb treats may be needed. Thinking of you.

Breakfast: 3 Wheatabix Biscuits and some milk.
Lunch: Chicken Bites, Apple, Muller Light, 2 Wholemeal buttered rolls, and a pack of kettle crisps (to go in rolls)
Dinner: Harvesters Salad Cart/ and a meal.

Speaking of bacon, I just finished up what amounted to a bacon disappointment the other day. It was already chesse week and I had a few bits of meat left over. This particular bacon that was from free range pigs and it was uncured, but I failed to read the small print. They had added some kind of nauseous sugar cure flavoring to it, defeating the purpose of the uncured etc. altogether. I was spittin made but ate it anyway, waste not want not, was not careful, shame on me
Today was, Cook the Bacon Day.
What did I eat? Well......bacon.
Thin hickory smoked bacon,
thick apple wood smoked bacon,
Bacon and cheese egg cup,
bacon with some chocolate smeared on it,
and a homemade hazelnut butter cup which is where the chocolate smear came from.
Was going to make Keto pancakes with bacon, but got lazy and just looked at the recipe while eating bacon.
There may have been more, but it wasn’t too memorable.
I love Cook the Bacon Day. Yes, I cook enough for a week or two. Less mess to clean up that way.
On the talk of bacon. Sad to say but I've gone right off it.
Had bacon, sausage, egg and 2 pieces of wholemeal toasted other day for dinner. The bacon was so salty it's out me right off. Won't be having a bacon sandwich for a while.

Evening all

B = 3 egg omelette with cheese and 2 rashers of smoked bacon

L= tuna salad, with after burn cheese

D = low carb chicken masala, broccoli and green beans. (Luxury sugar free jelly later for pud) it’s not quite set yet ;)

B #1 (2am) coffee with cream, piece of low carb seed bread (yesterdays experiment) with cream cheese
B #2 (7am) 2 low carb pancakes (todays experiment) with butter
L (11am) leftover chicken stir fry, still hungry so had a "bullet proof" chocolate square
And it's only 1 pm here so will like have a snack then dinner which will likely be sausage and sauerkraut

Hi all.

Eating at weird times today.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - at 3.15pm. Had a post work outing with some of our service users and didn’t want to wait until afterwards before eating. Headed for Nando’s. 3 plain wings, plain chicken leg with salad.

Dinner - still hungry when I got home so ate a Lidl protein roll with butter and almond butter. Really hit the spot.

Post work outing was a tactile tour of Parliament. Allows some additional extras over standard public tours - got to sit in the Speaker’s chair!

Bit better on the BG front - bed 6.2 FBG was also 6.2 and the DP seems to have gone again.
B Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream
L. 2 Heck chicken Italia chipolatos and a fried egg
D. A weird mix of leftovers. 3 chicken wings, tablespoon prawns, lettuce, 4 Santini tomatoes, small avocado, and cold tinned veg mixed with Helmanns. Scoop of Perfect World touch of carrot ice cream.

Good evening.

Just one (large) meal today, plus a visit to the gym.

Dinner was fathead pizza with pepperoni topping followed by sugar free jelly mixed with cream (and a bit of cream on the side) and 5 Hotel Chocolat 100% buttons.

Bought some of this cocoa infused tea to try too: http://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/cocoa-breakfast-teaolat-bags.html will give it a go tomorrow and report back.

Improving again. Bed 6.1 FBG 5.8 and again no DP. Back to swimming with No 1 grandson as well this morning.
B. 1/2 lidl high protein roll with lurpack. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Other 1/2 lidl high protein roll with cheese savoury and water.
D. Low Carb chicken pot pie , broccoli and a mini cob. I vary the recipe by putting peas, mushrooms and chopped up sausages.

I may have to have an alcoholic drink. Both grandsons staying the night and the wee one is a nightmare. Swore last time he wouldn't stay again unless he was 21 and housetrained! Wish I'd stuck to it!

Yesterday
9am the corned beef egg and cheese thing. I love it. But that was the last of the corned beef so won’t have it for a few days.
12.30 took Ma in Law to carvery. They have revamped the place and put the prices up. We were disappointed. Now you have to decide on small, medium or large plates. The meat portions have shrunk and were dry. All the green veg was khaki, and all the other veg was overcooked. I abandoned zero carb for the meal, avoided the wizened peas and floppy green beans and ate roast potatoes and watery cauliflower. They had pud. I didn’t. Very proud of that. Lol
7pm pepperoni chips with cream cheese as a dip
Kefir later.

Today
9am steak and eggs. We have found a new DOG FRIENDLY place that does a fine breakfast
Snacks 70% choc and cheese
7pm slow cooked beef thin rib in a very small quantity of tomato, garlic, celery and herb ‘gravy’

9am Paleo porridge - an experiment in anticipation of staying away from home next week.
2pm lamb chops
7pm corned beef heated in a pan, with two eggs cracked into it, sprinkled with cheese and gently cooked till eggs are ready. Seasoned a little with tomato puree, smoked garlic and a sprinkle of onion powder.
Like the sound of the corned beef egg thingy. I think I can visualise it. I had an experiment of my own tonight. Normally I would do the entire chicken pot pie in the oven but for speed tonight I Instant Potted the filling and cooked puff pastry for boys/hubby and the low carb top for myself separately. Nice tender filling.

Hi all.

Work travel day to Manchester yesterday so just catching up on posting.

Have just braved logging all (with the emphasis on all) my food from yesterday as it was a bit of an off piste day. Relieved to find that what felt a bit uncontrolled actually added up to 40g carbs and just under 2,300 calories. Much more than I want, and not to be repeated too often, but far from a disaster - FBG was 5.0 this morning.

Breakfast - a rare one. First class advance ticket was cheaper than standard class. Smoked salmon and scrambled egg was on the menu. Would have been rude not to. Just ditched the toast.

Lunch - took it with me. Lidl protein roll with butter and almond butter.

Dinner - Nando’s. 3 plain wings, plain chicken leg with salad and mayonnaise.

Snacks - complete downfall. Consumed an entire bar of Lindt 90% plus a 20g packet of Sainsbury’s On the Go nut medley and a 25g bar of Willie’s Cacao Venezuelan 72% chocolate.

Today will be a 23/1 fast if it kills me!
Did you not have serious palpitations?? That's a major chocolate fest. Max I've ever had was 3 squares 90% and I was awake for hours.

Evening all
Breakfast - coffee with cream
Lunch - smoked salmon and advocado salad
Dinner - chicken curry and one slice of low carb bread - livlife from Waitrose - I’d recommend it it’s 3.8g carb per slice I fried it in coconut oil as a Nan replacement - delicious. pudding one scoop oppo vanilla ice cream and one piece of 90% chocolate plus gin and soda water.

Amazingly not! I used to find the 90% quite bitter, but not anymore. Decided to stick to the 100% for now.

It is kind of shakshuka-esque, but obviously different proportions to avoid too much beef.

That pie you made sounds great!
