Afternoon snack of 2 slices PaleoBrot with vintage cheddar, Branston and mayo. Went a bit mad with the Branston. Blast from the past! Childhood memories in a jar...
I’ve also been hammering it every day for 3 days to test intensively whether i react to the wheat fibre like i react to gluten.
No problems so far.
However, i intend to ease off soon. Far too expensive for everyday use.
Oh my, strong cheese, Branston and that kind of bread just about perfect back in the day. I also bit the bullet and ordered a box of lo dough for coming excursions - my wife will no doubt want to drag me to see the 2 girls due over the next couple of weeks. I would be happier if they were boys :banghead:

Thank you Maglil55 you’re right, nothing can beat that feeling.

I think the anxiety is just as bad for loved ones, my husband was a nervous wreck and I had many frantic texts from daughters when they hadn’t heard from me - it was because the appointment was late, but they feared the worst.

I hope your surviving siblings are in good health and good spirits now, sending a hug your way as I can imagine the worry you are living with too.
Thanks. My brother is doing well and just waiting to start the "belts and braces" chemo. I'm taking him to his appointment on Tuesday and he's asked me to go in as his "ears".
Sister needed an overnighter in hospital due to very low potassium levels but is getting over it again.
You just have to keep on going though.

Its such a worry for you all but thank goodness you can be there for them both.
It’s really important to have a second pair of ears too - I used to go with my dad to his appointments and make notes as I knew that neither of us would remember it all, or any of it come to that.

Thanks for the welcome back all and very good news about your son, @shelley262 must have been very worrying for you.

@jayney27 if you see the Taza wicked dark chocolate on your trip, avoid it! I threw that one out after 1 square. Really dry and not tasty at all. The Alter Eco and Trader Joes are the nicest bars and the Ghirardelli 92% good as come in individual squares (and bars). Cheesy things are great. Also look out for Volpi Roltini - like giant M&S rollitos. Delicious.

Pleased to report a low carb flight home - with some tweaking of their menus and addition of my items:

Breakfast - in airport. 2 fried eggs, bacon and a Roltini.

Lunch - got them to ditch bagels and rolls and give me a plate of smoked salmon, cream cheese and bacon. Added 35g bag of salted macadamias.

Snack - bag of cheddar Whisps.

Dinner - steak. Ditched potatoes and sauce, used the butter which looked lonely without any bread, as an alternative sauce. Added 25g Trader Joes 85% chocolate.

On way home and looking forward to bed!
Thank you for the advice I will definitely look out for these while I’m there :)

Today worked very well as I was able to finally wander down the garden and pull lettuce, radish and spring onions , cucumber with tomatoes nearly ready. The food I ate was mostly in season and the routine was right back to 3 years ago at the start of this journey. For now that can be repeated just need to think through/remember what I do/did other seasons. Menu below:

6. 20 - 8.10- 2 pints tea with H/M almond milk to rehydrate
8.40 2 Portabello mushrooms; scrambled egg (2) reduced salt and sugar tomato ketchup ; vente filter coffee with 2 tsps inulin and splash h/m almond milk ( that combo is not a keeper) 20 mins steady ex bike afterwards;
11..20 Vente Filter coffee (mix of 2 types) and sweetener (no inulin); Arla lactofree (not soya ) single cream; ½ h/m High fibre choc toffee bar
14.00 Mackerel salad ( cucumber, spring onions, radish, lettuce, watercress, rocket, spinach, tomato) 1 tsp PHP ; 30 gms chia seeds; 20 mins steady ex bike
15.20 Water flavoured with lime (new water bottle lets me put lime in a grill inside)
16.40 ½ h/m high fibre choc coffee; Tea with h/m almond milk
18 : 50: Goats in blankets; pea shoots and flowers; cherry tomatoes; cucumber; spring onions; lettuce; vinaigrette with PHP; 20 mins steady ex bike
PHP = Psyllium Husk Powder

How do you like the Arla Lactofree cream? I've taken to having that in my coffee too now: before I was only using their Lactofree milk, cheese & spreads (butter & soft cheese (like Philadelphia)). I think it's a winner!

Bed 5.2 FBG 6.1 - beginning to think I should just drink and keep my liver busy (joking ).
B. My lo dough experiments continue. I always liked the taste of a McDonald's breakfast wrap but always had to ditch the wrap. This allowed me to eat the wrap. Smear of tomato ketchup on the lo dough, add a bit boiled ham, fried a mini omelette in one of my mini pans, sprinkle on some grated cheese. Fold in the ends and wrap. 3 mins in my George Foreman - DELICIOUS!
Tassimo Americano Grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing out shopping.
D. Usual slice each of pork, ham, ox tongue and turkey. 6 sweet potato chips, coleslaw, 4 mini plum tomatoes, little bit lettuce.
Later had a coffee and one of the mint Grenade bars.
Another very humid day.

Today has been an Eating Day :D

Full English, minus the gluten
Afternoon snack of 2 slices PaleoBrot with vintage cheddar, Branston and mayo. Went a bit mad with the Branston. Blast from the past! Childhood memories in a jar...
Evening pizza made with lo-dough, cheddar, mozarella, passata, ham and pepperoni. Also about a teasp of finely chopped green pepper and onion.

So, a day of low carb bread.
You might have noticed all the lo-doughing lately. Lol.
Been giving it a good going over to see if we want to reorder.
Mr B certainly wants to!
The pizza today wasnt as good as a fathead pizza, but then it only took 5 mins of prep, and then 7 mins in oven, and it was still very nice!

I’ve also been hammering it every day for 3 days to test intensively whether i react to the wheat fibre like i react to gluten.
No problems so far.

However, i intend to ease off soon. Far too expensive for everyday use.
I agree about the lo dough not being as nice as fat head for a pizza base, great for quickness though. You are also right in saying that it’s a bit expensive for eating everyday, I did order 7 packs but I intend to ration them now.

@GrumpyOldPhart I like the Arla mock cream works well in coffee I had used it before when my wife tried a fodmap diet and went lacto free. @maglil55 thanks for the breakfast wrap idea I have ordered a box of lo dough so I can take some with me when going to parts of the country I don't want to visit just so my wife can coo over our new granddaughters over the next 2 or 3 weeks.

Unfortunately I use it because I have an extreme intolerance to lactose (so much so that Peterborough City Hosp stopped the test after 3 readings as I was going off the chart! What I find a bit weird is that I can cope with some goats' or ewe's milk cheese, & (apparently because it's so hard) Parmesan, but not "ordinary" cheeses (which I find particularly annoying as I can no longer enjoy Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, Blue Stilton, or Cave Aged Cheddar: all foods of my youth!)

I got in late last night, last minute tickets to watch a local stage schools show of Footloose, my son was playing bass guitar in the band, excellent night :) Forgot to post my menu!
Posty bought me presents yesterday all in the low carb cause!
Anyway my menu was:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: Skinny Café pancake with bacon and SF maple syrup followed by Greek yoghurt and blueberries.
Mid afternoon: cappuccino at Neros and a smuggled in PhD bar.
Dinner: used up left overs from Saturday to make a small portion of Caesar salad with coleslaw and pork scratchings followed by mint and choc chip Oppo.

@Rachox looks like we all bought the same moulds and Peak supplies bulk powders. Think we got 2 for 1 sack of inulin. Off to raid the Grape Tree of flaxseed at £1.00 for 500 gms with possibility of 25% off. I mix 1 tsp inulin to 2 tbls flaxseed for a base of high fibre bars, cheesecake and will try as a basis for crumble topping. Flaxseed is also the basis of the Hemsley's flaxseed bread which is about the only version we have made that I like.

However, i intend to ease off soon. Far too expensive for everyday use.

After I bought my first box of lo dough I signed up for their newsletters and I had already set up an account.
When I logged back in to order another box limited numbers of "alternatives" appeared on the 14 pieces big box at different prices one being £22 instead of £26 - so I ordered 2 big boxes!
I've also noticed you can sign up for a regular delivery (you set the delivery frequency and they have quite a few permutations).
There were also discount codes kicking about on Facebook but I couldn't see where to enter them plus the £22 was better and they don't normally allow you to combine discounts (although I would have tried ).

Welcome back @Goonergal. Can't believe that's your holiday over already.
Like the look of your low carb findings as well.
Bed 6.2 FBG 5.8.
B. @ianpspurs I had to go for it again. Another lo dough "McDonald's" breakfast wrap. Same as yesterday, smear of tomato ketchup, slice boiled ham , mini omelette, grated cheese - wrap and 3 mins in the George.
Out of curiosity I checked the nutritional values (if you can use such words in relation to McDonald's).
McDonald's version 605 calories 56g carbs.
Lo dough version 251 calories 4g carbs.
L. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
D. Reproducing my dinner from Friday. Grilled chicken breast topped with a little bit pineapple, mozzarella, avocado and a drizzle of chilli sauce. Green bean s and asperagus air fried with garlic and mixed salad.
Campari and soda and a wee prosecco. It's bloomin hot again.
I may have a few Stawberries and cream later too.
I am now down to 32 pieces of lo dough.

Good trip out to Grape Tree, 5 kgs flaxseed for £7.50. That may not be a regular price but with that much flaxseed I should be regular for a while:angelic:

I just bought the starter pack of 2 so will try your breakfast wrap and @Brunneria ‘s quiche I think.

Evening everyone, another glorious day here, really wish work wasn’t looming on the horizon
Woke again to a higher FBG than normal but also didn’t feel particularly hungry so just had coffee with cream
Decided we needed to venture out for new house keys so went to a local place and had a cooked breakfast and a small cappuccino, here comes another surprise re my numbers, I woke to a 6.5 and 4 hrs later 6.6 and this was my first bite reading, 2hrs later 6.5
Felt full for the rest of the day so didn’t eat until about an hr ago, omelette with tomato and feta cheese, strawberries, raspberries and splash of cream, BG back to 5.3, in the words of Toyah “It’s a mystery”

Hope everyone had a good day. I woke wishing I hadn’t imbibed several glasses of red wines last night although my fbg was very low! I just can’t drink more than one glass, or a push two, anymore I’m a lightweight re alcohol on this way of eating. Anyway have to do abstinence for next day or two to prepare for lipids fasting test so made it easier - I’m just not tempted today!
Breakfast one sausage, slice bacon and egg
Lunch cheese and four LC seeded crispbreads followed by thin slice lemon cake and yoghurt
Dinner chicken curry and one slice of LC bread fried in coconut oil followed by sf jelly and yoghurt.
