What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all. Second night in a row I’m going to bed well past bedtime. Will be arriving in Birmingham in need of a good sleep.

@ziggy_w I wish you could join us too - we’ll be thinking of you.

Insatiable hunger continues. No idea what is going on.

Lunch - smoked trout with M&S whipped cream cheese followed up by Coop chorizo and Gouda rollitos and a small peperami.

Dinner - had planned fish at home, but ended up at Nando’s prior to a work leaving do. 3 plain wings, plain leg and half an avocado. Arrived home still hungry and have since had 30g almonds, a lazy dessert and 40g Trader Joes chocolate.

Been AWOL, but sticking with the programme, even though I don't have much appetite. Perhaps it is time for another fast.

In the meantime, today
B: low carb muffin with peanut butter and decaff coffee
L: Salmon with lettuce and aioli.
D: chicken thigh, green beans.
Good news dropped 3 HbA1c points, so now teetering on brink at 49.
Not so good news no weight loss.

Winner for the staying on plan and HbA1c; hug for the weight loss. Hopefully that will follow.

That’s great news! Well done. What were you on diagnosis?
Thank you, @DJC3.
Diagnosis was in 2005. So long ago that it was before the change in reporting from percentage (%) units to millimoles per mol (mmol/mol). The figure that stuck in my mind was 8.8%, because I thought 'yikes, that will be two fat ladies!' :arghh:
Since then, I used very low calorie diet to reduce to new measure of between 38 and 41. Maintained for over 3 years by low carbing.
Recent steroid meds, slow weight gain and I had a shock HbA1C of 52 six weeks ago. Much stricter low carb now, with increase in calories by adding extra fat.

Not sure. Will probably need to throw in some fasting. Just not yet, as still not fully recovered from a few infections. Though I really don't have much of an appetite atm.

Out for last family day out before 'back to school' .
Cod with batter pulled off and chips distributed to none diabetics.
Weatherspoons may be the economical choice today.
After loads of paperwork running around (on phone and e-mails) which some dwp/local authority has forgotten about and a dental appointment. They want me to do their job for them. I would IF I COULD.

I might do salad later with some fresh ham from butchers.

Thanks for the sausages information. It looks like I will need to either go to parts of the county I don't usually go to in order to trial Sainsburys' offerings, show some discipline in Waitrose (highly unlikely) or try some of the huge range from the butcher who sells buffalo, crocodile etc! The sausage idea was part of planning for using brunch as part of a new routine. Brunch appeals as LC breakfast doesn't work for me just wasted carbs leaving me hungry and rueful.

B Bacon, egg and spinach on homemade Lc bread with tomato and cheese. Greedy wretch this am. L. Fish and salad. D. Yet to have it, but will be butterfly pork steak with green vegies. Skipping desserts for awhile to see if that will lower the bloods in the morning.

Are you going to test as usual in the morning? I have to also do a morning one too, if I want to keep my excellent bgs steady.
The block doesn't last very long in the morning but long enough to get u to eat low carb coffee or similiar.

My morning BG yesterday after the late night cheeses wasn’t much different to usual at 8.7 and it shot up to 10 though I only have about 5g carbs in breakfast. But.... it soon came down and was the most controlled I’ve had it for days, mainly in 6s and 7s
I skipped the cheese last night but will try it again tonight to look for a difference. This morning’s spike is well under way

You will soon be the expert on your fbg needs. Your half way there. :)

Trifle is one of two iconic P family celebration dishes - the other is rice crispy cake in the shape of a cat - which is definitely off my list. Mrs P is tasked with creating a worthy successor to her famous cricket tea monster trifles. Opposing teams would rave about those. The lemon drizzle cake will make a base and jelly is no problem. Homemade custard should be no problem. Mine will have plenty of cream. Just waiting for Mrs P to sort herself out - I think I make too many excuses for her but I have always been soft that way.

Ahhh puddings .... Mrs No6 has the moniker of Queen of Puddings and going to friends dinners normally involved travelling with a big box with something sweet and yummy inside. Alas, her new name is ‘Queen of low carb stuff with weird ingredients that tastes ok’ She has been a star, when the inulin and psyllium husk etc arrived she looked daunted but checked out diet doctor and came up with some pretty good grub for me. Sadly pudding seems to be sf jelly and cream or sf jelly and cream.

@Geoffno6 I am no lover of puddings and very wary of diet doctor BUT there are plenty of pudding/dessert recipes and those who like such things endorse them wholeheartedly.

And all you guys going to Brum, have a great time, I’m jealous, I’m on a train from London to Stockport so could’ve easily stopped on the way back this evening but tonight is number 1 daughters birthday dinner so duty called. Have fun!
