What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Coffee ANYTHING sweets are the best! I would have always done for the coffee Roses or Milk Tray first (not sure if they still exist)

I was glad no one else used to like them - more for me!
Got to say another favourite of mine was Mon Cherie - dark chocolate with the brandy sodden cherryin the middle.
Anyone reading this would think we had previously stuffed our faces with chocolate. Christmas was a high consumption time I must admit.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee at home then headed to Cardiff, currently in an Airbnb. Heading back to Oxford tomorrow with my daughter who’s broken up from Uni for Xmas.
Lunch at my daughter’s: cold mini sausages and green salad followed by raspberry Phd bar
Mid afternoon: coffee with cream at Costa.
Dinner out: steak, 1/2 grilled tomato, mushrooms, one onion ring and side salad.

Er ... ah. Who'd do a thing like stuff chocolate at every opportunity? Hmmmm ...

.... I'd always been a cadburys dairy milk girl given the choice!

Hi everyone...today it’s been

Egg, bacon and first attempt at low carb bread...

Dinner was kale and bolognese with parmesan and berries with cream

Daughter off to her dad’s til Sunday, think am going to have to do something horrible to the fruit bread and bagels left in the cupboard as I don’t want to be left alone with them (thinking a squirt of kitchen cleaner will render it inedible!)

Run out of strips so no testing today

Have a cosy evening all
Send them with her or freeze them.

Seriously though, when I consider my pre diet snacking choices ... yikes. This talking about chocolate has made me peckish so I've just gone and fixed myself .... a bowl of chicken pieces and olives! Bit different to a sharing bag of chocolate buttons...

Our lot do the same. It's reasonably well organised just now but the school has extensive playing fields so jackets in particular can end up all over the place. I checked 99 lockers in the pavilion last week, the janitors room but the changing rooms were locked. I'll ask the cleaners to keep an eye out next week but usually the lost items have shown up by now. If I do spot anyone with the same jacket on I'll be asking for a check because I conceal labels on the jackets - I'm a sneaky Nana.

There are times when sneaky makes all manner of sense. :)

I had to go out early this morning to an appointment. Everywhere busy. Nowhere to park nearby, so I braved the weather, then spent whole day regretting not just cancelling the appointment. Took several hours to thaw out. Helped by late brunch of streaky smoked bacon fried with mushrooms, two cups of black coffee.
Lunch: more coffee.
Mid afternoon: beef bone broth. Ultimate comfort food after toast, but as no bread in house broth had to do. I felt chilled to the marrow, so seemed appropriate to have marrow bone broth.
Dinner, minced beef, another comfort food from my youth, seasoned with chilli and pepper, and accompanied by cauliflower rice. Mineral water.
Not quite comfort FOOD but certainly comforting, and I am warm again now.... Navy rum tot with Pepsi Max.

Here goes boring again!
Bfast- 1/2 avocado , boiled egg, coffee w cream
Lunch- 3 tall celery, some flalmax bread with about 2 tbsp peanut butter. Talk about stick to the roof of your mouth!
Supper had to work around a gig. Early: 10 cherry tomatoes and some cucumber, chunk of swiss cheese (lowest sodium cheese there is). After gig so late, need fat and protein for a med: 3/8 cup sliced almonds and a little tomato. Pre bed snack for med: about 3/8 cup skyr yogurt. Took shower, cooled off a little, BG 114/6.32)’(? Did I do that right?).
I walked just a mile in early evening, BG 98/ 5.44 (?). Yayyy!!!!

@maglil55 the Mon Cherie were too dark for me, like you @Kingmidas I was a CDM girl.
I am amazed at how much my taste has changed and I now get just as much pleasure from a few Callebaut or Hotel Chocolat 100% buttons. I didn’t even notice it happening.
I do still love a bit of CDM but it's a rare treat and I save it for what I call Faturday which is when I relax a little about food.

My sweet tooth generally though has totally vanished and things I used to love aren't even tolerable now. I went for a pre Christmas coffee with my colleague and decided to have sugar free syrup in my coffee. I had half the amount that they normally put in and it was still much too sweet so I decided to just go back to normal coffee with cream. I don't even thought I'd ever utter the phrase 'that's too sweet for me'!

Helloo, couldnt post yesterday, I ended up staying at my daughter’s. Her new Gt Dane puppy has chewed up her phone charger and I didn’t bring one so ended up with a flat battery.
I also forgot to record most bgs on MySugr so it’ll now have an artificially low average - don’t seem able to add to previous day’s record, you can only edit and change existing records ( I only managed 2) Never mind, here goes-
B: smoked salmon, 1/2 avocado and a scrambled egg. Coffee&cream
L: small portion of Camembert with a few almonds, walnuts and olives.
D: pizza at daughter’s with most of the family. I made fat head pizza base for me ( they had takeaway) topped with sour cream, olives, chorizo, jalapenos, and mushrooms. Champagne to start proceedings ( her birthday) and a glass of lc Baileys while watching Love Actually later.
Lovely.

A great dane puppy, eh? Now there’s a handful!

How are everyone’s Advent Calendars going?
Mr B’s protein blob calendar is a triumph. I get the cocoa/orange ones (about every 5th day) He eats the rest.
My herb tea bag calendar is VERY disappointing. A good third of the contain matcha or green tea, so they go in the bin (caffeine and vile flavour). Of the rest there are a disturbing number with fennel and aniseed :yuck:. Then the rest are just kind of... mediocre.
Oh well.

Food the last couple of days has been virtuously carnivore (cheese, pulled pork, bacon and egg, roast pork, omelette) and sinfully maltesery. Won’t buy any more, so the preoccupation (carb cravingy obsession) will now fade.

My fleeting interest in Baileys has crashed and burned.
One small glass was very disappointing (I often find this with alcoholic drinks), and nowhere near worth wasting carbs on. :D
Obviously this is great news, and my carb frivols over Xmas can now take other directions.

Breakfast: Tea - 2 pints: Dockey : Almond milk latte - homemade; 2 bites caramel shortbread stacker with grandson - can imitate taste on LC but not texture
Lunch : *Would have been Beef casserole (Ox cheek, meaty bones, shin of beef and mace cooked in IP yesterday and finished today with lots of mushrooms); broccoli; braised red cabbage - (mulled wine, apple, small onions;) Celeriac and swede mash; panettone bread and butter pudding with cream; red wine was dog walk and almond milk hot cocoa Afternoon: Nothing - (cocoa) : Evening: Tea and NFL/ SPOTY
*Son and partner arrived much later than they said for lunch then visitors arrived who didn't like dogs so I walked them. Rather than have a meal I was really looking forward to in a very poor condition, as I might have done before, I will find a way to eat some of it in a good condition another day. (makes up for diary error of Ember days so fast works well.) Quite like that approach. Hope you all had good days
Edit: Turns out visitors and Son had arranged to arrive together and eat later but forgot to tell us:arghh:

Hello all,

Didn't manage to post yesterday, so here are two days' worth.

Saturday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Rest of the day -- to be honest I don't quite remember anymore. A senior moment?

Edited to add: Just remembered lunch and dinner. Lunch was cubed chicken breast with homemade low-carb sate sauce, Dinner was steak tartare with mayonnaise and two fried eggs. Two glasses of red wine.

Today ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and erythritol.

Lunch: Fried and sliced duck breast with cocos-cauli-rice and spiced red cabbage. Something was a bit too carby there as blood sugars went a bit higher than I like at an hour (6.5 mmol/l), but were back to 4.8 at 2.5 hours.

Snack: One square of 85% chocolate.

Dinner: Not yet hungry -- but possibly bouillabaise with half a low-carb flatbread with butter.

@maglil55 -- My mother, who worked at a doctor's office, always used to get lots of Mon Cherie for Xmas from patients. Tbh, none of us really liked it, so we often regifted them. As it happened, one year we actually did open one of the boxes because we wanted to eat them and all the chocolates were covered by a greyish layer. Was it one of the boxes we regifted years before and that eventually was regifted to us -- I wonder?

Another Christmas party last night. Stayed off the carbs and stuck to meat and veg. Carbs from vino. Of course:-)

Breakfast: BPC
Lunch: Pork chop and muchroom stir fry. A spoonful of coleslaw. And olive oil. Had to have a second pork chop as the supermarket cuts them so ridiculously thin!
Snack: Mixed nuts and tea
Dinner: No idea. Not hungry yet. But pink gin and zero tonic sound appealing. Got to work up some excitement for Monday...

Haha - be sure your sins will find you out!

(I’m also having a few senior moments these days by the way)

I have just been ejected from my own kitchen. It appears MrB is doing some culinary magic. I know it invlolves a rack of lamb (I was the butchery messenger) and lots of garlic, because I can smell that.

Nom, nom, nom. :)

Ooh my tastebuds are tingling at the thought. Lamb and garlic are a magical combination.

Evening all. Didn’t get to post yesterday. Up at the ridiculous hour of 3.30am and that combined with tree planting in the freezing cold led to a bedtime of 6.30pm!

Yesterday was a failed OMAD day. Doing well until got home from tree planting and decided to have a slice of lemon zucchini cake with extra thick double cream. Triggered all manner of nibbling of nuts, almond butter and cream. Still, didn’t need dinner and it fuelled me through a successful OMAD day today, which included 28.5k steps!

Today’s dinner was pork belly slices and 2 Waitrose free range Cumberland sausages followed by lemon zucchini cake with extra thick double cream and my advent calendar chocolate. @Brunneria not sold on my advent calendar either. It’s the Hotel Chocolat 65% supermilk one. Lower carb than some of the darker ones but just a bit too sweet.

Hoping I can stay awake long enough to watch the final of the Apprentice.
