What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Breakfast : 1 slice of toasted Bergen bread with a small tin of John West chilli and garlic tuna. Mug of tea.
Break : Chunk of Brie and a clementine
Lunch : Ground chia seeds made up with chocolate flavoured almond and coconut milk. And a handful of salt and vinegar peanuts.
Dinner will be : white fish grilled in butter with lemon and pepper on a bed of courgette spaghetti. And stewed rhubarb with Greek yoghourt.

I bought a spiralizer yesterday in Sainsbury’s for the courgette sphagetti.

Haha! Well, I am definitely broody at the moment.
But not for human babies.
Wanna pupppeeeee!!!!

Today's food will NOT involve a Snickers Bar.
I expect to have prawn mayo with brinjal pickle for lunch, a three bird roast (discovered in the freezer last night) for evenign meal, and a few 70% choc squares and cashews during the day to drip feed in enough carbs that I don't get another Snicker Craving. Two days in a row would be pushing my luck!

Who knows, maybe bring broody for a puppy is enough to get our hormones in a muddle and produce cravings.

Must admit I could very easily give a good home to a puppy but Mr C says three big dogs is enough. :sour:

Couldn't you just sneak another one in?

They used to be called Marathon didn't they? Thankfully I have an aversion to any nuts that have had anything done to them. Plain nuts in their shells fine - cooked, salted, caramel/chocolate coated - keep they away from me. The sight/smell/taste makes me physically sick. Barcadi does the same thing. No idea why unless I had a traumatic nut experience as a child? I can relate to an irrational longing for something though. In my case it is usually something I dont like which I find bizarre.

I'm the same with Southern Comfort - I can't stand the smell of it and, because of that I can't bear the smell of oranges (or satsumas/clementines either) and I'm especially bad with synthetic orange flavouring. The difference is that I know EXACTLY the reason why! :wideyed::dead:

I can barely remember what I ate for every meal this week with worry about son. We had salmon, Bolognese, chicken for dinners with green veg and roasted med veg. Lunches have been soup and cold plates of meat, coleslaw, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, cold egg, cheese, and waldorf salad in different combos on different days. Just the cold plate for me but feeding up son. Have done breakfasts of poached/scrambled eggs, bacon, myshrooms, avocado in different combos with granary toast for son but for me just 1 slice of HiLo toast thick butter and 2 mugs tea.
Tonight I am eating alone so two Heck sausages and celeriac mash on the menu followed by either LoCal jelly or LC Light & Free yogurt or 2 squares Lindt 90 (if I think I can stop at 2). Son gone back to London for early night, going into work tomorrow and back to us tomorrow night for more TLC at weekend.
Happy cooking and eating All.

Amazing strength of character there PenguinMum to stick with lc way of life through all that. The fact you have any Lindt chocolate left at all deserves a round of applause. Hope things get more relaxed for all of you now.

Hi Brunneria. You have just explained what happened to me when I ate carbs close to bedtime recently - something I would never normally do. After being asleep for only 2 hours I was wide awake, sweating, anxious and sensing that the carbs could have had something to do with it! Thanks.

I haven't experimented with carbs but I get exactly like that if I over eat cheese or any dairy in the evening or eat any cheese at all in the late evening. It also pushes my BG up the next morning.

@Brunneria how weird! The whole thing, and so thankful it didn’t repercuss!
@Chook here we have them in “fun size” by the bagful. They really are only one bite, and a good mouthful for a younger child. They were conceived as a “let’s market to the trick-or-treat parents who are tired of their kids the morning after”. I for one was happy to see that for my kids. Half the candy from the same number of houses is a win at Halloween. It’s the almonds that soak up the carbs. Peanut M&M’s are the same.
I say again, @maglil55 , you are wonderwoman at Granny-ness!!!
@PenguinMum I am so sorry that your son is still in the anxiety-inducing stage. Sending hugs to you, and stern thoughts at the bad bugs he is fighting.

Thanks @DJC3 but I really dont want to lose the progress I’ve made and I actually like the things I eat now. I have developed a real fondness for waldorf salad in the last week or so. I have for convenience bought tubs from m&s and Sainsbury TTD which I think is my favourite. Cant have very much at a time but makes a change from coleslaw as something wet with cold plates and the little pieces of apple are enjoyable. I thought about just making it but to be honest but when son leaves its just me to eat it and hardly worth it. If we have a gathering it would be different.

A breakfast departure from normal and a report from the chocolate sugar battlefront.
Bfast 2 eggs scrambled in olive oil with a little cream, and leftover broccoli from last night. Real coffee with cream.
Then it’s my turn to cook, so I got chili going in slow cooker, then mixed up some Ghirardelli triple threat brownie mix. Since I was already buzzing from the 1/3 cup coffee, I couldn’t do my own chocolate. But know what? I Didn’t Even Think Of It! ...until... I decided to post a pic for y’all. Then my mouth watered, but they still didn’t smell all that good. They’re out of the oven now, and not yet bothering me. Fingers crossed. Also pre-prepped the corn bread, which will be much harder to resist. I may have to have a lick of the spoon, as it will be past my eating window when all the rest eat it.
Lunch seltzer and maybe instant (yuk) decaf
Supper will be chili, spinach, and sour cream or cheddar or both.
HAPPY PI DAY!

@PenguinMum you have fed your son well and I am sure given and will continue to give all the TLC anyone could.
Lots of tea and a cocoa plus some water. Not cross bun and butter at 10.00 after 40 hrs fast. 14.00 avocado, tin of mackerel in EVO, grated cheddar and ACV. Piece of smoked cheddar after. 17.40 Meatza (mushrooms, few leftover lardons and 1 gms carb tomato topping according to label and scales), few red little gem leaves, cucumber and some mayo. Liked 2 and the 3rd met high fat criteria and was simple to make - 66% is a decent baseline to work from.

A lot of liquid today.

Lunch; beef bone broth with two thinly sliced mushrooms stirred in and the residue of of my Thai chili paste washed out from the pestle and mortar.

Dinner; Tom Yum Gai - hot and sour chicken soup.

Some seconds left if I get peckish a bit later on.

Thanks Ian thats what we do isnt it? How is Julie doing?

Good fasting @ianpspurs

Today didn’t go quite as planned and ended up with a much wider eating window than I’m aiming for.
Breakfast: Coconut porridge with a couple of raspberries.
Lunch: avocado with M&S Orkney crab and prawn cocktail, then a lc Bounty bar.
D: supposed to be meatza but didn’t get that far - a squished out burger with melted camembert on top. Choc chia pud afterwards.

Julie is losing her voice but up and about today - knee and back seem to be easing but that could be effects of painkillers.
Wishing you both all the very best. When we vowed “in sickness and in health” we were in another world. I have a good one and you are a good one!
