Accidentally got up way too early. 5.20am :grumpy:
CWC, nut granola, one portion today, followed by 2 scrambled eggs and more CWC.
Sounds really organised, but actually was intermittent while surfing the net, looking for gifts.
Might even be considered by some as three separate snacks.
Shopping trip. Market and supermarket, bought chocolate not 85% - never a good sign.
Lunch out. Disastrous on several fronts. Was meant to cheer me up:depressed:
Starters. buffet, most were carby - ended up with tiny piece of ham, coleslaw, carrot salad and pâtè, so I had bread.
Main: we tried the Langue de Boeuf. Probably was not a good representation of the meal. Was completely disgusting. :yuck:
His came with chips( which were fine) mine with vegetables, tinned, probably rewarmed, again almost inedible.
Cheese course five different cheeses, some we had not tried before and more bread.
Dessert: panna cotta with caramel topping. Cheap tasting caramel flavoured sauce. Probably packet mix panna cotta.
Coffee: mine was nearly cold.
We have eaten at this local restaurant many times previously. Had some very good meals and a few average, acceptable ones.
But the last visit we did not enjoy the food. After today. Will we ever go back?
Later comfort eating, feeling homesick:depressed:, chicken sandwich, chocolate and wine. Lot of chocolate. :greedy:
MrSlim got concerned, suggested I check BG. 9.1
2.5 hours later BG 7.3
Bedtime tea

Sounds like a pretty awful day. It is so disappointing when things don't live up to expectations. To be honest, I've never had a restaurant meal to be happy with. I know I could always do better for much less money. (I do understand about overheads etc, but, if I'm paying good money, I want value for it.) I was trained as a chef in a previous life and ran my own businesses for a while, so I know what can be done - and don't appreciate when it's not done right. No wonder you turned to comfort eating. You deserved to comfort yourself after that day.

Out about 10am to get rid of the recycling load and then to shops. Wasn't sure I could go - felt very nauseous when I got up but 2 cups of weak black tea made me feel better.

Lunch at 1pm - 4 small LC waffles with butter and some more tea. FBG was higher than I wanted (8.8) and by the time I had the waffles it was 12.5. Insulin and Metformin with the waffles have brought it down to 10.5. Still too high, but reduced by 2, which is something.

Dinner will be chicken with lemon and turmeric sauce - out of the freezer again. I am trying to make space for the meat I want to order for Christmas - I would prefer to leave it until the last possible day, but can't guarantee that the butcher can co-operate so I'll order it early and get it as close to Christmas as I can and put it in the freezer.

The plan is for roast beef but I also want to experiment with a low carb version of beef wellington, so I'll need some fillet as well. I also want to experiment with curing pork, so that's another chunk of meat I will need.

DIL is in the process of setting up a laundry business but the ordered shed/workshop has somehow got lost somewhere on the Isle of Skye, although nobody knows why it went there in the first place, so all the equipment is set up in the dining room of their little house to process the business she already has. Which means, of course, no table for Christmas, so they'll come to me, maybe bringing their own turkey, ready cooked, and all the trimmings. It'll save me doing carb rich foods anyway - I'll offer to do all the veg.

Em tells me that next year they are going to rear their own turkey so I warned her not to get too fond of it. She says she will have to think of a name for it though. I suggested "Dinner" to keep reminding them that that is what it is for. Bad Granny!:)

Ah I’m glad you posted this! I bought some of the red shrimp thing from Iceland as I remember you saying how good it was, but I forgot what you said you did to jazz it up. You’re right they are jumbo shrimps.
You can jazz it up loads of ways. It depends what you have knocking about in veggies. Don't make the mistake I made first time though by adding more chilli! It's plenty hot hence the dash of cream at the end.

Hi All
Yesterday’s frugal lc food didnt deliver any favours and today going the same way.
Today:
Breakfast: slice LivLife toast, thick butter, tea x2.
Lunch: Serrano & Manchego rollitos (M&S) cup of tra.
Supper: another omelette probably.
BG at 1800 was 6.0 when it would normally be 5.0.

@SlimLizzy sorry about the disappointing meal. We have a Christmas meal with friends coming up, everyone choosing 3 courses from a set menu, the best choice for me is main of turkey dinner with maybe half a listed starter and defo no pudding. I dont mind because it is a group outing but eating out can defo be challenging!

Thursday: Slightly alarmed by fbg @ 5.9 but yesterday was quite high protein and exercise so they could be implicated. Tea, no gym this morning - part sulk and part body telling me to rest. Then poolside feast. CWC and glass of champagne; 2 mini croissant and 2 x butter pats: - (I blame the chatty fbg thread crumpet discussion ) green salad base with EVO, chia and linseeds topped with 2 x poached eggs and 1.5 rashers back bacon ( very odd for me) and 4 x cherry toms. Nice chat with manager who was a) interested in this woe and b) falling over himself to provide me with anything more I wanted. L= water. Bg 4.6 at 3.30. Had 2 travel mugs of tea with new carton of almond milk (unsweetened); Eve; Beetroot and yogurt mousse, kohlrabi, mint, red onion and sumac salad, Leafy salad, herb infused OO, whitebait; salmon fillet with halloumi chips cooked as a special to avoid any sauces etc from main choices, more leafy salad with herby OO - fetched by manager who took my requirements for LC hot chocolate for breakfast (20 gms choc melted in 240 mls almond or soy milk) and an avocado also had 1/2 glass house red. Yes @PenguinMum eating out can be problematic but these guys seem to have looked after me well.

@ianpspurs sounds like an amazing holiday you deserve it after your health issues - enjoy as much as you can, these holidays always rush past faster than you expect!
Breakfast one slice of bacon, egg and half a toasted chaffle
Mainly a caring day fuelled by coffee with cream
Dinner game casserole with cauliflower cheese and glass of dry red wine followed by sf jelly with yoghurt and cream.

Ate a bit too much today, well a lot too much, but BG seems to be behaving.

Breakfast was clotted cream and almond butter.

Lunch rollitos and pork crackling plus a few nuts - picked the macadamias and almonds out of a bowl of mixed salted nuts at work.

Dinner was garlic and Parmesan wings followed by a homemade hot chocolate - Green and Blacks 85% mixed with lactofree whole milk.

Thanks for the kind wishes. I forgot to mention the cheeses and nuts - bg was 5.2 just now after 2 hours so not too bad. Hopefully, someone will care for the carer in your world. Game casserole sounds good to me.

Waitrose 1 brand doing an amazing game meat casserole mix at moment 3 for 10 meat offer. I’m getting plenty in freezer to keep going whilst in season! Slow cooked with celery and juniper berries......

Evening all. I’m confined to the kitchen with dog currently, while in the sitting room a hypnotherapist tries to help daughter with her panic attacks over public speaking. Hope it works.
Today’s food: CWC first thing.
Black coffee out mid morning
Lunch was leftover chaffle batter lasagna sheet toasted with bacon and egg ( worked well). Then raspberries and extra thick cream then because I lost the stop button 1/2 30g bar Montezuma’s 100% black.
Dinner was tuna bake, spinach and 2 glasses dry white.

Sounds very good what liquid do you use? Is it in the fresh meat aisle?

Lunch: the last of the tuna melts followed by Greek yoghurt, raspberries and macadamia and coconut keto granola.
Mid afternoon: coffee chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: chicken chasseur with mixed veggies followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola

Evenin’ All,

work over for 10 whole days! Yippee!!!

b: bone broth and half a pretty vile strawberry whey protein shake. Still researching. Gave the other half to Mr B who cheerfully glugged it. The man’s taste buds must have been offline.
L: a bit of choc
D: 3 sausages and a chaffle, with garlic pickle

lie in tomorrow. :happy::happy::happy::happy::happy::happy::happy:
