The eggs from my own chickens taste exactly the same as supermarket eggs to me, except from the flavour enhancement of knowing they're happy and free chickens :)
These ones are certainly happy and free. I'd even go so far as to sayspoiled and pampered ! The yolks were very yellow, but i was so disappointed they didn't taste better

football, both the game and the culture.

Breakfast: 2xCWC, nut granola.
Painting the first bedroom, it's slow going, lots of fiddly corners and raw plaster is highly absorbent.
CWC
Lunch: tomato, cucumber, chorizo melt. Cauliflower cheese bread spread with pâté, not sure that works. Tea.
Had to go out. Man who bought MrSlims tractor on Saturday phoned to say it had broken down. Could he come and look at it?
Multiple small cups CWC with the wife. Successful resolution of tractor problem. We now have invitation for Sunday lunch in two weeks time. Social distancing? umm how are we going to do that?
Dinner: 2 frickadellen, Harissa, steamed cabbage and small spoonful of MrSlims beautifully golden fried potatoes. Mini icecream lolly. 2 glasses of wine.
Lemon tea.

Yesterday Bed 6 FBG 5.9. Good buy indeed @shelley262. Looks very like my Joules top which was also a sale purchase. @DJC3 - Oor local Clarks shop was the same - very organised. We always make an appointment but difference this time was they stuck to the appointment times. Anyone without an appointment had to wait in a distanced queue until there was unbooked capacity. Finally found out that eldest grandson's fears are that he is still not convinced it is safe at school. At least we know what to tackle now. Hope all goes well for your granddaughters return.
Monday -
B. TAG
L. Slice of LC toast with ox tongue and coleslaw.
Pack of red Leicester cheesies.
D. Remains of yesterday's beef stroganoff with celeriac chips. Handful of black cherries and 2 squares of Godiva.

Youngest grandson exited school last week with one of his new embroidered WHITE (I use that term very loosely) polo shirts appearing as if he'd been turned upside down and dipped in mud & baked beans. He did have baked beans in his lunch box for lunch but this was incredible. I've been working on it since then. First wash revealed a line of black felt tip along the bottom. Got that mostly gone, shirt is probably whiter now than when bought but I have the faint outline of the baked bean sauce which has resisted everything! Ordered some of the more specialised stuff online but if this fails I may blow it up!

Hello all,

Thanks for tagging me, @shelley262. Didn't realize how much I missed all of you and posting on this thread.
@shelley262 -- The oat fiber was a positive for me too. I now use it (in addition to almond flour, lupin flour and potato fiber) when making DD keto rolls and really enjoy the flavor. Really love your chaffle recipe.

@Rachox -- Good to hear you feeling a little bit better now, keeping my fingers crossed that things improve further quickly.

@Goonergal -- Sorry to read about your morning rises -- what do you think is the cause of this? Also really impressed with your long walks.

@Chook -- Impressed with your four-day fast -- I would have never been able to do this.

@Annb -- I empathize with the high blood sugar levels and the challenges of getting the insulin dosing right. I can imagine how frustrating this must feel.

@zauberflote -- It's so good to see you back on here posting. I've missed you.

Insulin
Last night I stuck with the previous night's level of insulin because BG was 8.7 before bed. FBG this morning 10.2, which, I suppose I can't really complain about after the last few days.

Breakfast was a bacon/RyVita sandwich - 2 RyVita biscuits and 2 rashers streaky bacon - done crisp, as I prefer, but the whole thing kept falling apart, of course, because I didn't stick it together with butter. Tasty though.

Dinner will be some of the roast lamb and some of the vegetables in gravy I cooked with it and put into the freezer separately. It looks to be quite a lot so it will probably do for breakfast tomorrow as well.

Had another episode of the fire alarms going off around 1 am today. Neil ended up just taking the offending one off the ceiling. My brother was telling me that he'd had a similar incident some time ago and had sent the one troublesome alarm back to the manufacturer to see what was wrong with it. They replaced it with a new one and later told him that the problem had been a tiny SPIDER which had got into the sensor. (Spiders! Nothing but trouble.) It must have been tiny to get in. And it probably had quite a headache with that alarm going off. Neil says he'll check our one and see if there's anything in it.

Had my second haircut post lockdown today. Amazing how fast my hair is growing these days. (Just trying to keep up with the rest of me, I suppose.)

No longer keeping track of my meals on Cronometer, so hope I'll remember everything.

Yesterday ...

Breakfast: A double decaffeinated espresso with cream and erythritol. Half a DD keto roll with butter. Some almond brittle (sliced almonds, erythriotl, butter, cream, vanilla and lemon oil).

Early dinner: Half a DD keto roll with steak tartar and mayonnaise.

Later in the day: Some red wine and way too much almond brittle.

Today ...

Breakfast: Double decaffeinated espresso with cream and erythritol. Some more almond brittle (luckily all gone now.)

Lunch: A cheese burger on a portobello mushroom with onion, tomato, avocado, mayonnaise and low-carb ketchup. Edit to add half a DD keto roll with mayonnaise and cheese.

Dinner (planned): Some entrecote (cooked sous vide) and then fried, cauli rice with butter and potato fiber, and sauerkraut with cream and caraway seeds. Some red wine. 20g of 88% chocolate.

People who think they know everything.
Another lovely day today - the morning was spent trying to persuade the dogs that not everyone walking around an outdoor market we visited wanted to be their new best friend and another lovely afternoon spent sitting in the sun outside the dog friendly pub on the beach. I've never seen so many happy calm dogs in one place - might be something to do with the free dog biscuits at the bar!

BGs are back up to where they were pre-4 day fast. :shifty:

Breakfast: nothing
Lunch: black coffee and a little plate of mixed cheese cubed and a little plate of mixed seafood
Dinner: tuna and prawns salad with an avocado

Several white wine spritzers

Evening all.

Lovely to see you back here @ziggy_w - make sure you stick around, we miss you too! I am not sure what is going on with my BG at the moment. It seems to shoot up without much encouragement at all, and when I give it encouragement it goes way off piste. Now that I’m back home I need to be rigid in cutting carbs as close to zero as possible and sticking to it. I have a small amount of v dark chocolate left from my time away and once that’s gone, that’s it.

Today I ate some extra thick double cream that was left in the hotel fridge and then persuaded the train staff to give me extra bacon with the offered bacon roll, and ditched the bread.
Lunch was some of the remaining chocolate and some cold meats - salami and chorizo.
Dinner was 2 air fried Barnsley lamb chops bought from the butcher during a brief break from work.

@ziggy_w welcome back - always love your menus and miss you.
Went swimming first thing - wonderful session today and quiet enough for me to be able to get some back stroke lengths in, its my favourite stroke but can’t do when danger of bumping into anyone especially now! Had a double lane to myself today yay!
Lunch one toasted chaffle with scrambled eggs
Dinner pesto marinated chicken with salads - my tomatoes especially are prolific at the moment! My Black Russian variety is just starting to ripen and are a reddy Black colour they taste great not too sweet. Glass of dry white wine with soda water. Pudding DGF lemon and blueberry with a few berries from garden and spoon of Greek yoghurt. Just about to have decaff coffee and one montezumas mini egg.
Lovely sunny day today and garage said we should wait a bit longer to replace tyres so that was a financial reprieve for now!

Hurrah @ziggy_w it’s good to see you back here.
@maglil55 I haven’t tried those rolls but might give them a go. I did buy some oat fibre a while ago to make bread but it was terrible and I threw it out. Maybe I should have kept it and looked for other recipes. My kitchen storage space is so small and everything gets so damp that I’ve really cut down on home baking. There are 3 different dietary requirements in this household and all are vying for space - plus oh isn’t happy unless he has at least a dozen tins of soup in case of emergency! I don’t envy you trying to get baked bean juice out of a white shirt.
@shelley262 your swim sounds wonderful, I like backstroke best too but you’re right, you do need your own lane to swim it comfortably
@Chook that pub sounds like a doggy paradise. Sorry your bg is back to prefasting levels though, that’s so disappointing.
@Goonergal hugs for the morning rises too. Sometimes it happens to me and sometimes it doesn’t. I can never figure it out really. What worries me is the constant tweaking, lowering carbs and increasing exercise every few weeks to try to keep at the same level I was at, say this time last year with higher carbs and less exercise. Where will it end? There has to come a point where we can do no more and then what happens? Sorry that’s ridiculously maudlin and not at all helpful.
Back on topic - today’s food
Black coffee until around 13:30
Lunch Cobb salad then DGF raspberry brownie and cream.
Dinner- chicken thighs cooked from frozen in IP ( 14 mins) with h/m chicken stock and Italian seasoning. Sauce finished with cream and Parmesan. Served with broccoli. Red wine 2 glasses.

Brunch - 2 boiled eggs mashed up in a cup with butter. Mug of earl grey and double cream.

Dinner - Large prawn cocktail & egg salad. SF jelly and double cream plus 4 squares 100% black with mint oil. Cup of earl grey and double cream.

Couldn't help but notice that it did feel like the start of autumn when I was out my walk after dinner tonight ... the temperature has definitely dropped (a little chill in the air) and the nights are starting to get darker earlier ... oh no......

Back in the driving seat today, lucky I drive an automatic, my right foot is fine but the left is lagging behind a little following the infection at the weekend. Blood sugars I hope are now settling after a few blips recently! (Spot the op day!)
Anyway food today:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and salted caramel phd.
(Skipped Lunch).
Afternoon coffee shop stop first since lockdown :wideyed: Coconut cappuccino.
Dinner: gammon steak and leafy salad followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Sorry, I'm too bad typist and its always too late at night for me to acknowledge or comment in everyone's posts , please excuse me:shy:

But @DJC3 I can empathise with the feelings. I'm sure my body just wants me to eat nothing and exercise 24/7. Everytime I find something I think works, it seems to go overdrive the opposite way. Even lchf/keto/IF isnt doing as much anymore:banghead:
@Rachox so impressed with your level readings, even the op day wasn't bad!

Tiny breakfast of ff greek with seeds for laxative purposes!
Lunch cold salmon and salad
Mid afternoon , 2 bites of hubbys carrot cake
Dinner omelette with cheese and chicken and runner beans. 2 peanut eggs with teaspoon clotted cream

Visited the wonderful Rosemoor garden in North Devon today. Was stunning. Will be doing a return visit this week as was too hot to do it all in one day

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
Teeny tiny violins, I hear them floating across the water @Brunneria ! Good thing you have jambalaya to look forward to! I am so with you, I will eat the same thing happily for years on end.
@SlimLizzy you and MrS are awfully nice to go fix the tractor! Sounds like you should write up a service contract, €XX/year!
@maglil55 heh if you lived here, your #1's fears would be entirely legitimate! Schools open, 2 weeks later they go virtual because of all the cases popping up. All our local K-12 districts chose options that either include or consist entirely of "virtual all the way". Most colleges/universities in town started in person but after 1-2 weeks switched to online and/or virtual. Too many Greek parties off-campus apparently. Ugh the uniform shirt. We always bought the navy option, and if it got a stain, tough cookies, you can wear your blood/chocolate/grape jelly the rest of the year! The schools seemed to expect this lol.
@Annb your breakfast sandwich shows the usefulness of eating "deconstructed" foods . Dip the Ryvita in your beverage, and just eat the bacon plain. How about fat free Neufchatel cream cheese with bacon crumbles as a spread? Spiders in the smoke detectors-- we've had moth-wing dust cause them to go off. The big one is when a squirrel foolishly tries to shelter in a street-corner electric transformer... all is lost for the squirrel, and also the neighborhood's power!
@ziggy-w glad you decided to come back too! Just curious, is the lemon oil in the almond brittle for flavor or some cooking reason?
@Chook so sorry about BGs!! I love your dog stories. Do you suppose there's a secret ingredient in those dog biscuits??
@DJC3 it may be maudlin but I occasionally feel like that about getting old in general!
Hurray @Rachox driving!!
@MrsA2 what a great day trip, glad you get to go again!
Today Tuesday:
Was awake 2 hours in the very early morning, I hate that. Hope things are better tonight because I was walking dead most of the day!
Bfast avocado, boiled egg, pecans, 2 Lindt 90%, flax crisps/dilute soy milk. Addition to bfast after an errand, peanut butter, boiled egg, a few pecans while fixing tomorrow's breakfast-to-go.
Pre-barre, skyr yogurt/olive oil. It's 0% yogurt, and very thick/creamy even before the olive oil.
Barre class. Feel more tired but less awful if that makes sense.
Supper spinach, boiled egg, some of that Cabot cheddar, flax crisps coming up.
Sleep well all sleepers, and good morning in a few hours!

@zauberflote - I've never seen Neufchatel cream cheese - neither French nor American but I can get low fat other cream cheeses. I usually use cottage cheese though. It's also fine with some crispy bacon mixed into it. I really shouldn't have RyVita anyway, but sometimes (usually) feel too lazy to make chaffles or any other lower carb substitute.

My cleaning lady phoned a short time ago to say she won't be here today after all, so I shall be putting everything back onto the floor until tomorrow. I waited for her to come in and finish before making breakfast, so I've just reheated the lamb and veg from yesterday with a little added spicy yoghurt and had that. Stomach a bit unhappy now. Need to have some milk to settle it down. Will also be able to take my pills with it.

FBG was 10.7 - used extra insulin last night to keep BG lower after BG of 9.7 last night. Took extra insulin before breakfast as well, so we'll see how that goes.

Later will have crispy chicken wings - perhaps Chinese style. The only carbs in that will be the garlic, so I should be well under my allowance today.

if you enjoy the cream/cottage cheese with bacon crumbled in it, why not just "attack" it with a fork or spoon. Similarly, you could cook a sausage, slice it on a slant, to increase the surface area, but retain some integrity, and use that as a carried for the cheese/pate/egg mayo, or whatever.

The only time in recent years I have been tempted by bread or breadlike products was about 10 days ago, when I have put a Sourdough Boule through the slicer to freeze for MrB. He had one end thickly spread with butter, and I could so easily have joined him with the other, much thinner end.

The fact it contained gluten saved me from myself! I'm over it now - I think.
