What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

You are a star, i was just googling "Fathead Pizza", when you replied. I did not realise that was the actual name of that type of Pizza!. I will definitely make one next week following your recipe!....
BTW... is that ground almond or almond flour... Never ever used the stuff before.
You can also buy LC pizza bases from seriouslylowcarb.com Currently £5.94 for 2 (they freeze but make sure you put greaseproof between them). The do topped pizza as well but they are a bit pricey. I prefer to top my own.

Just catching up on many posts while I rest. I'm afflicted by some bug again. I had a really weird turn yesterday in M&S. Thankfully son was with me but vertigo combined with a feeling of nausea was not fun. Feeling better but weak today. Anyway, back to healthier days in Bath!

Thursday 20 October - bed & FBG both 7 2.

B. TAG with soya milk. Cooked breakfast of GF sausages, back bacon, fried egg, 1/2 tomato, mushrooms, GF Black pudding and 2 slices of the Waitrose LivLife bread which I toasted.

L. Just a Cappuccino in one of the multiple coffee shops when out. Cappuccino has become a thing again having discovered they have sugar free soya or nut milks.

D. Tonight's restaurant was even better than last night. Despite being a large party food and service was superb.
Campari & soda and more than a few glasses of dry white wine. Starter of seared scallops on a small amount of curried lentils with coconut and apple. Delicious! To follow, chargrilled rib eye with mushroom, tomato, and seasonal greens to replace the Triple cooked chips. No dessert but I did gave an Irish coffee.

Friday 21 October - bed 6.8 FBG 6.7

Restaurant was soooo good yesterday we returned this evening.

B. Same as yesterday's hotel breakfast. Our coeliac friend was full of praise for the care the hotel showed with him. They went through every breakfast item with him and ensured all his food was cooked separately. They even had a GF section with sealed GF cereal, bread and a toaster.

L. Yet another soya cappuccino at some point.

D. Back to last night's Restaurant. Campari and soda and many more glasses of dry white wine.
To start, this made sound odd but again it was delicious. Pan fried rose veal with mushroom, crisp onion, parmesan crisp and a soubise sauce (which was tangy and slightly creamy) To follow, blackened cod with chorizo, class and crispy chilli squid. I skipped the saffron potatoes and substituted the seasonal greens again. Another Irish coffee.

Maglil, Goonergal gave you the winner for the food (I presume it wouldn't have been for managing to catch another bug) and I am giving you a hug for going down with that bug. There are lots of bugs floating around at the moment and it seems we are all much more susceptible to them after being shut away from them for so long. Take care and try not to overdo it (when did you ever do that?) until you are really over it.

Saturday 22 October - bed 5.8 FBG 6.2. ONLY 4 of us remain now and Bath was heaving as there was a home rugby match today. The away team were in our hotel so we kept encountering either very, very tall rugby players or smaller chunky ones in the hallways.

B. Same as previous days.

L. Nothing did a river trip and bought Bath rugby shirts for the boys (Bath won).

D. Yet another Italian. This was the one with the fabulous seafood special. I had a campari and soda before we left the hotel. To start, back to scallops. This time with a pea puree and crispy parma ham. To follow was that amazing seafood. Sea bass, squid, beautiful King prawn, mussels, clams, swordfish all in a really delicious sauce.
I even had a dessert that didn't harm the BGs - affogato. A single scoop of vanilla ice cream which you pour a very strong espresso over (unsweetened). 20221023_123052.jpg20221022_182218.jpg

Ha! I’ve stayed in that hotel, but before it had its makeover. Sounds like a fun time.

Very simple food for me today. Two lots of yoghurt and cream - given up on raspberries now they’re out season: the most recent batch were poor. One lot of air fried pork belly pieces.
I'd stayed in it in my working days again before the makeover. They've done quite a job on it. The Waitrose next door was very handy (it was also a good shortcut to get through to the Pultney Bridge).

I’d never thought of taking my own bread to a hotel breakfast!
That Italian restaurant sounds wonderful, and so accommodating.
I've done it before if I can find out if there is a fridge in the room. Most of them have you toasting your own bread anyway and usually they'll let you know if there is a fridge. As well as the loaf hubby had bits of cheese in there too with my water supply.
Is @ziggy_w back (belated Happy birthday)? I haven't found a post yet but I still have loads to get through.

So back to Friday. Supper was LoDough pizza with Abergavenny goats cheese, black olives and 1 medium chopped tomato. As usual all brekkies one slice LC toast and copious tea EXCEPT on Friday Mr PM and I decided to go out for brekkie en route to looking at customised sheds. What a disappointment and waste of money! I wanted scrambled eggs, mushrooms and tomato But they only did fried eggs so in pla e of chasing them around the plate I had them on a slice of ordinary toast. Mr PM had the full breakfast. Both breakfasts were lukewarm and the eggs were cold. So will vote without feet!
today brunch of scrambled eggs and crispy Peking duck with a spoon of sauce and side salad for supper.
@maglil55 are you able to remember the restaurant in Bath where you had that lovely plate of seafood?
@Goonergal hope you’re feeling better today.
@RosemaryJackson and @DJC3 now you‘ve got me thinking about cheese and pickle sandwiches!!

I've DM'd you with the restaurant details. I wasn't sure we are allowed to say the names of restaurants etc.

No problem sharing names of restaurants!
(Provided it's not your own restaurant or you're otherwise involved in it, in that case it would be advertising, which is not allowed.)

B chia seed pud nuts strawberry and greek yogurt
L Fish , 3x rashers , cheese some Mediterranean meats
D steamed broccoli, asparagus, green beens with dry salt chilli ribs.
Another note and sorry if wrong to post this here . My sugars havnt been great last few days with in my eyes nothing different but this afternoon I've become covid symptomatic. Pyrexia, rigors and tachy but tested negitive . I wonder was it my body telling me something was coming . Off work.tomorrow and a pcr test .
Mine tend to go like that when something is brewing. I've got the added "early warning" that any bug attacks my damaged nervous system first so, if my legs/ankles go something is lurking. Lately though BGs have been going the other way. Plenty fluid and rest if possible.

B: just some ff greek yoghourt.
A proper Sunday lunch at lunchtime (haven't done one at this time for years, we usually do 6pm) Up at 8:30 to start preparing.
Roast beef, 1 very small roast potato for me, garlic butter spinach, carrots and swede, slow cooked celery finished with white wine. and cream. A cheesecake type bake which I've done before using raspberries. This time used plums and served extra stewed plums on the side for the non-diabetics.
A couple glasses wine.

There may or may not be more food later.

My 3rd libre in a row has just ended . I will miss wearing one. Helps me stay on track

Brunch - 1 slc roll filled with egg mayo. Mug of earl grey tea

Dinner - 1 slc pizza base loaded with chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and topped with mozarella cheese (1st time I have had this) and it was lovely - Saturday night fake-away - it just tasted like a really nice thin & crispy pizza :) then some kefir & blueberries

So ... @maglil55 I had a £10 off voucher for dgf and I thought I will use it to buy the 3 for 2 chocolate but when I went to the website there was no 3 for 2 offer just individual bars which obviously were a lot more expensive but still available? so I e-mailed dgf and they said yes that was right enough so I never bothered, far too expensive and when I thought about it Aldi are selling their 85% for £1.29 at the moment which works out at more or less the same carbs if I split the bar in to 3 - so no brainer for me I will be buying the Aldi chocolate as it is loads cheaper. Quite glad as I think I will save myself a lot of money in the long run - as last time I got the cakes they didn't taste as good as the time before and when I buy them I usually spend over £40 to get the free postage but £40 is too much to spend on something these days which is just "ok" and not good :(. I hope you are having a lovely holiday @maglil55
I don't buy the DGF chocolate. There's some in Lidl I like but I do love Hotel Chocolat Gin Truffles. Thankfully, I can restrict myself to only one. I passed loads of Hotel Chocolat on my travels but resisted I will buy some at Chrustmas though. I'll be ordering from DGF if the "mibce" pies come in.

Hi All as ever behind again …so back to Friday evening which was a Lo Dough pizza with half a log of Abergivanny goats cheese, black olives, chopped tomatoes and sprinkling of dried Italian herbs.
As usual all brekkies were slice LC toast and copious tea.
Lunch Sat was small cold plate of ham, cheese, side salad and spoon coleslaw.
Supper was Tandoori King Prawns, cauli Bhajee but let myself down by having TWO popadoms which was not good. Sunday lunch was three buttery scrambled eggs. Supper was roast spatchcock chicken with green veg and cauli cheese.
Don’t know what lunch today will be but likely to be another small cold plate moving stuff in the fridge along. Supper will be pork stirfry with lots of veg and ginger and soya sauce on top of cauli rice.
I don’t know if I said but I have encouraged Mr PM to cut back drastically on bread and liquid bread and just those changes over the last month have reduced his tummy and a loss of 8 lbs. @Antje77 don’t worry about the messy kitchen as long as you and the animals are looked after. @RosemaryJackson you are working hard but don’t go hungry. @Annb hope the bg settles down a bit and you can still find nice things to eat. Finally @DJC3 thanks for the idea of fried eggs on marmite toast can’t think why I haven’t had it before. Finally @maglil55 that seafood is right up my street, are you allowed to say which restaurant in Bath? I will book ark for our next visit.
Did you notice LoDough have stopped trading? I got a farewell email.

How long will your fast be? I was thinking of doing a 2 day one last wek, but having never done one before was not sure how safe it would be.
It's wise to be cautious If you're already taking glucose lowering meds. You might need to check with whoever prescribed? Glucose typically lowers a lot for me when fasting (down to 2.6 - 4.0) and my ketones come up quite high in a quick response so I don't experience any break in the 'fuel supply'. It took a good number of shorter fasts and a good while in ketosis before it was easy to fast. I'm wanting to do 5 days but should also mention I have a few kg to spare (actually 11 or so!) to provide me with plenty of sustenance. Probably should discuss fasting in the fasting section so micght start a thread there just to record my numbers etc.

I thought to finally try this cheese and onion pie tomorrow so I looked up the post and found it was posted on the 29th of october two years ago. So it must be your birthday again!

Does the recipe say I should boil the chopped onions in water?
I guess it does, it's just that I never boiled onions before so now I'm in doubt. The words cooking, boiling, baking, frying are somewhat confusing for a Dutchie because they're not used in exactly the same way in my language.
Very yummy!
And with a side salad it'll last me for 3 days. :hungry:
(That is a very large plate so it's more than you'd think. :hilarious: )

Salad is endive, red onion and a very small egg. The good thing about having different chickens and turkeys is that you get to choose the size egg you want.
Dressing is mayo, bit of branson pickles (yes I'll need to try and make it myself when the pot is finished), salt and pepper.
I used fresh garlic, smoked paprika, dried thyme and lots of black pepper for spices in the pie.

1st breakfast -spoonful of h/m yoghurt with berries and seeds.
This was supposed to tide me over until going out for breakfast with daughter and grandchildren. Didn’t work, just awakened my tum so …
2nd breakfast - scrambled eggs and parmesan.
Daughter finally ready but the place had stopped serving breakfast - went to a different cafe and I had a coffee.
L- handful of nuts
D- slow roast pork shoulder, buttered cabbage, cauli cheese and sautéed pepper&courgettes. Glass of white wine.
@maglil55 and @PenguinMum I also had the email from LoDough saying they were closing. Sad as I liked LoDough pizza and quiche. Sorry about the new lurgy Maglil55 hope you get over it soon.

Was doing well skipping dinner after a splendid lunch, but then started watching Stanley Tucci Italian food programme. Gloriousreal, local seasonal.
Had to be accompanied with something so 3 seedy crackers and cheese

Most cheeses are fine. Crackers? Google low carb or keto crackers. There are loads of them. One of the popular ones are M&S super seeded but are notoriously difficult to find in store. Many online suppliers have them too. You'll also find loads of recipes online for crackers. I am currently using M&S crispy cheese crackers. Carb count is higher than the low carb version but I can get away with having 2 or 3 of them.
I didn't know such things existed:).. Will search them out. Thank you for the heads up.

That is a very large plate
Ahem, it’s a very normal sized plate for some :hilarious: :hilarious:

Glad the pie was good. I’ve been meaning to try it for ages too.

Started yesterday’s food with air fried lemon pepper coated chicken wings. Forgot the pic until I’d eaten one!

Bit of a ‘picky’ day food-wise so variously ate yoghurt, cream, 85% choc and buttered Schneider Brot, which may be of interest to @RosemaryJackson

It’s about 4g carb/slice. Asda recently started stocking it again after a very (very) long hiatus. https://groceries.asda.com/product/seeded-grains-bread/schneider-brot-protein-bread/910003058887
