@maglil55 it turns out I have one of those little glasses with holder! I’d forgotten all about it. It’s quite small so I’ll have to make the tea in a pot and keep topping up. Makes it even more special somehow.
@MrsA2 thanks for the tip about the water not being at boiling point to avoid the bitterness. I will try that too. I’m gradually getting used to it but it does need to be quite weak tea of it really is too bitter black.

Still having my head full of Poes with suddenly hitting sadness, so I went for comfort food with comfort food. :)
Made a thick and very creamy tomato soup. Didn't feel much like eating today so I thought to fool myself by keeping the soup concentrated and adding a lot of cream cheese, sneaking in those calories. I know I feel better when I've eaten enough, so small portion with many calories seemed sensible. :joyful:

@Annb 's granddaughter Em taught me that bacon goes at all times, and it being a very good comfort food, I thawed the pack of British middle bacon I bought on my holiday and fried a rasher.
Your bacon is really out of this world, one rasher was as much as at least 10 rashers of Dutch bacon!

Nothing wrong with a giant slice of bacon to go with your tomato soup when you need a hug. :hungry:

Todays food…
B- 3 soft boiled eggs

I’ve been out at a spa day with a friend today, lunch was included. I didn’t take my glucose monitor so decided not to stress about it and ruin the day. So lunch…
L- Small cup of lentil and red pepper soup ( delicious) and a small chicken Caesar salad without croutons. 1 glass dry white wine.
D- zapped a bowl of leftover brisket in the microwave with some broccoli and topped with a fried egg. Frozen berries and cream with about 10g Montezuma’s Absolute Black grated on top.
Black tea all evening! I have milk going off in the fridge.

Tuesday 8 November - bed 7 7 FBG 7.2 Another busy day. School runs, straight to Physio and had to squeeze in a trip to the butcher on the way back. Hubby was going to football at night so food was a mix of bits and bobs.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with egg mayo.

L. Slice of pork and a DGF coconut square.

D. I found 2 of these Mexican rissoles things in my freezer (you'll remember them @DJC3. The rissoles with the hot Mexican cheese in the middle?) I had them in the gap while waiting to go back to pick Hubby up again.
.CC little chocolate pot.

Yes I remember being envious of those rissoles! I have made melting middle burgers by putting a Babybell in the middle of the burger, it works well but in a similar vein I’m thinking Mexican cheese would work very well too.

Thing was I didn't realise what the term "big boned" was until I commented on my husband being "big boned" my meaning was that he was tall with muscles. He was horrified and then told me what the term "big boned" meant! I was mortified. I know now what it means and detest the term as it was drummed into me growing up. "Bonnie lass" would have gone down better for me.
I'm not sure what it means then. I just thought it was someone who was heavy, but not fat. In fact, although not especially tall, the whole of my father's family have broad frames, as do I and many have been far from overweight. Some heavy because they wer muscular but others lithe and athletic, but still wide framed. That was what I thought was meant by "big boned".

Had my mince and egg mess but BG was dropping too far so I had a slice of bread. Came back up slightly but still hovering a bit low for late evening.

Your head will be full of Poes for a very long time. As i said earlier, pain is the price we pay for love. hard as it is to think about now, but getting another cat, even one similar to Poes will help becoming comfortable with that pain. We used to put off getting a new animal when one died, but have learned that lesson the hard way.

Morning BST 5.7, then dropped during the day
Breakfast skipped
Lunch skipped
3 cups of tea with a splash of milk and a Canderel.
Dinner… snack of 5 small discs of Fellini salami, 2 forks of Spag Bol,1 stick of Pinchos, salad, Irish coffee with Kaluha. 4.7mmol before dinner. 1/2 hour after eating 5.5 mmol, 1hour after dinner and during coffee down to 4.83, then jumped up to 6.3 about ½ an hour later, and then at around 2 hours, back down to 4.9...... Final bedtime reading about 2 hours later than last reading...4.8mmol
For anyone thinking the 2 forks of Spag Bol were strange... It was one of my dog's birthday today, so as a treat i made them both Spag Bol and could not resist a couple forkfulls myself... My tiny taster had parmesan too. I don't think the dogs would have noticed it missing!
And my bedtime sugar level is down to 4.8 after that horrific pasta transgresion.

Yesterday for tea had a home made sausage Bolognese, high meat sausages chopped into small pieces and fried in olive oil with chunky Onion and Mushrooms. Low carb Passat sauce added. Also added Bare naked Noodles to the mix towards the end. (All my wife's work)

Very quick to prepare and quick to cook.

Was really good and filling. Noodles amazing and a great Low carb, low calories addition to the new way of eating for me. (Found them in Tesco's this week for the first time)

Thank you, not finding it hard at all.
Are you doing just the Low carb and no sugar, or are you doing intermittent fasting too? ..........I am doing both. 117kg to start, then lost 7kg first week, then 1.5kg over the following 2 weeks? Keeping my Sugar levels down to between 4.5 and 60 90% of the time.

Yes doing my own low carb diet, probably around 40g a day and no or low sugar. Not eating Potato's, pasta and two slices of bread once a week, brown wholemeal (Allanson's). No extra exercise yet but then am pretty active looking after livestock and do a fair bit of metal detecting. Haven't done the intermittent fasting yet no sure really what I need to do but if weight loss stops then will look at that avenue too. Generally losing around 2lbs a week at the moment, not feeling hungry. Eat bits of cheese if I do with celery!

I am doing the same as you, except probably less carbs and a long fast (20 hours) between meals. I try to stay as close to 10g of carbs per day. Not doing enough exercise as I was too fat, however just started doing some... Bought one of those Nordic trainer things. I can manage about 2 minutes on it so far!
After the initial big drop, I am losing about 1kg per week.

Sorry MIA again so back to Tuesday. All brekkies slice of LC toast except today no bread so had slice of Ryvita buttered and always lots of tea with very little milk, mahogany coloured. Lunch Tuesday and yesterday was small cold plate with variously ham, cheese, choppd salad and spoon coleslaw and few pickled silverskins. Tuesday supper was chicken, chorizo and red pepper stirfry with smoked paprika and cauli rice. Yesterday’s supper was chicken breast baked with good portion of broccoli. Lunch today will be big mug of soup and this evening chunky cod fingers with cauli cheese.
I must be the most boring poster of meals as they are all repetitive but yesterday I discovered I have maintained my A1c which surprised me as my FBG has not being as good as it used to be. @Antje77 I am really sorry for the loss of Poes he was a lovely cat and I am sure he had a lovely life with you and even at the end you did your best for him. I have a real soft spot for gingers and I hope you will be able to find another or two.

No breakfast today, but 4 mugs of tea so far. Em was dropped off here for breakfast before school because the weather is so foul here this morning and her mum couldn't take her in the car because her granddaughter (2 year old), who was staying overnight so that her mum could go to work today, developed a high temperature and DIL didn't want to take her out of the house. Apparently the nursery that the little one goes to has had some cases of scarlet fever, so it's a question of wait and see if there's a rash.

This was all while I was trying to get my house ready for my cleaner coming and putting off breakfast until all was done. As a result, I didn't get on with the chores, so had to start again once Em left for school (just up the road and a 5 minute walk/2 minute run). She had to go out into a nasty, blustery shower but there was no alternative, so she went.

My cleaner should arrive any time now so I can't start making breakfast at this stage. I'll just have a very late breakfast, once she's gone. It will be bacon and eggs. 2nd meal, if I have one, will be haddock - probably pan fried in butter.

Today I had a couple of celery sticks and a round of raw carrot around 11am as I was cooking, but I’m not counting that as a meal. Lots of black coffee and PT session
L-1ish streaky bacon on SLC roll.
D- h/m burger with Halloumi fries, sautéed mushrooms and asparagus. Couple of glasses red wine.
