What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Wednesday 16 November - bed 6.7 FBG 7.1. Much better but full blown cold kicking in now. Paracetamol and inhalation of eucalyptus steam continues. Youngest grandson has gone down with croup (his Dad was bad for this too) and DIL has a real nasty so, it's not really surprising. At least my legs have pretty much settled, fuzzy head is still lurking and I have a "crackly" chest. Otherwise I'm fine.

B. TAG

L. More brunch really. Slice of SLC toast and 2 scrambled eggs. A cup of Marigold vegan vegetable bouillon. (@Annb have you considered drinking this bouillon if you get hungry and if you can get it?).I just buy it in the supermarket but you can get it in Health Foid stores and online as well. One spoonful in boiling water makes a very pleasant hot drink. Minimal carbs as well.

D. Still feeling "off" and tge only thing I really wanted was a tin of tuna mixed with chopped piccolo tomatoes and mayo. Had this with a slice of SLC toast and butter. Usual CC little chocolate pot.
Later a vodka and diet coke to see if it would cure my crackly chest (that's my excuse!).

BGs loads better during the day but more effort is needed to stabilise the dawn phenomenon.View attachment 57574
I've seen other flavours in the past, and even bought some once, I think, but I haven't seen any for a while. I'll ask Neil to have a look when he goes shopping. We used to have a health food shop, but the supermarkets started offering quite a few of the products they sold so they lost a lot of their customers and couldn't keep going. Then, of course, the supermarkets stopped selling the range of health food type of products.

Coffee and cream
Brie Ham and tomato.
Smoked salmon.

Great tip from @maglil55 about the bouillon, I do hope you can get some. When I was very ill a few years ago and couldn’t keep anything down for weeks, another patient suggested bouillon and it was a turning point in my recovery. The hot saltiness was so easy and satisfying to sip. Since then, if I feel under par I’ll often just use a chicken oxo cube in hot water. Works just as well.

Several Black coffees all morning.
Brunch - about 100g mince fried with sprouts, topped with Camembert and a side of chilli superkraut. ( Camembert was reduced, past sell-by date, which of course meant it was absolutely perfectly ripe!)
D- traybake of chicken, onion, celeriac, mushrooms, few cherry toms. Various spices and olive oil.
Couple of glasses of wine and more Camembert and nuts to follow.
@Antje77 I bought a cauliflower today and looked up variations on stamppot. Looking forward to experimenting.

B: hm ff yoghurt with blueberries and seeds
Covid jab, then a spirit lifting shoe purchase (1 pair boots, 1 pair shoes)
L: a few cocktail sausages
LC baking session with a friend who is avoiding sugar but whose other half is dairy free. Ended up with seed crackers and avocado brownies, with a few cheese crisps as a treat for her.
D: ready meal curry, but from local supplier who uses real ingredients. Hoping the dhal instead of rice is OK fro my bg, but forgot to test. Topped it all off with coffee ice cream and a red wine.

Have been feeling pretty low lately but mood seems to have lifted today, thank heavens

BG went very high this morning - before eating anything but then came down to a reasonable level and is currently heading down into the 4's. It did the same yesterday. Guess I should have my first meal a lot earlier.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and two DGF ketoreo biscuits (Deliciously Guilt Free’s version of Oreos)
Dinner: bacon melts with broccoli and French beans followed by SF cherry jelly and cream.

I really need to try to keep up.
I can’t remember yesterday’s food, though I know I didn’t eat before 2pm.
dinner was more of the cheesy mince with cauliflower.
lots of black coffee through the day
Today black coffee for breakfast
brunch tomato soup and a small piece of cheese, more black coffee
dinner, salmon, 2 chips nicked from Mr Pipp’s plate when he wasn’t looking, mayonnaise ( it is compulsory since I discover thath is how to eat chips in Amsterdam, even though I haven’t been there for a very long time). Mineral water.
Supper decaff coffee with coconut milk.

Rib steak, two eggs, mushroom butter sauce, two slices of toast and vegimite for breakfast.
Heat and eat spag bol', five prickly pear fruits and L/L sorbet for lunch.
Cold meat, mixed salad, coleslaw with some kimchi mixed in, for supper at six.

Glass of single malt before bed time.

Coffee.
Early: Pork sausage, slices of guanciale - cured pork cheeks, lchf walnut muffin and sauerkraut. Hibiscus tea.
Later: Mackerel, walnut muffin, cucumber salad with feta. Dark chocolate. Matcha tea with coconut milk.
Away this afternoon for a few days. Back next week. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Morning all. Having the rest of the sausage casserole today and ham and coleslaw (again) for tea. My choice tho. @ANTJE, when I went to live in Nederland, I had never seen an automaat or heard of mayo! But since then it's been a love affair with mayo and chips up to being diagnosed with the Demon Diabetes. Sorry about your cousin. Hope you have a fantastic weekend

I was so surprised when I found out that mayonnaise on your chips is not a universal thing!
I was having mayo with chips up until my type 2 diagnosis, following holidaying in the Netherlands. I now have mayo with anything (well anything savoury!)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a couple of DGF ketoreo cookies
Dinner: LC mushroom, bacon, red onion and tomato pizza with coleslaw followed by DGF brownie and cream.

Then a big lidl shop. Had trouble resisting buying some of the Xmas "treats" but the carby ones have gone out of sight into a locked cupboard and I'm trying to tell myself to limit the new cheeses to one open at a time.
L: cheese and ham rollups, 2 chicken drumsticks.
Then a walk up to the local church for a funeral, which was delayed over an hour so got thoroughly cold.
Rushed back to get ready for a quiz. The provided meal was fish and chips so I had opted out and took cheese crisps and olives for the snacky bits, and chicken drumsticks and cheese (cheddar with whiskey!) for the main. 2 glasses of watered down wine.
We came second, by just 1 point. A Good evening.

I don't think I'll be eating much today.

The cabbage yesterday evening was an experiment. It wasn't a good idea. Kept me up quite a lot of the night - my whole digestive system burning. Still going.

So far I've had some pain killers and a cup of tea. That has only just been possible. Before this I couldn't think of putting anything at all into my stomach.

BG has varied during the night between 6.5 and 14.9.

So much for that doctor's thought that I should be eating a full range of food, not limiting vegetables and including carbs. I didn't include carbs, and the cabbage portion, was small and delicious. But not a good idea, I think. The leeks were fine, the day before though. It may just be brassicas, of course - thinking back to difficulties with cauliflower.

BG peaked at 15.9 - I took a correction dose at noon to keep it under a bit of control. Now (2 pm) it's 9,3.

I feel as though I could eat, and am beginning to feel that I should, but I'm too lethargic to do anything about it. When I can stir myself, I will probably scramble some eggs - no point taking chances.
