What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

How much ACV do you add to water and how much have you seen your bgs reduce by?
Hi I have a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar a day in water (I use a straw too to protect my teeth) before my main meal I buy the fermented one with mother ie active starter mainly for my gut health but same meals I used to have are slightly lower as are my fasting bgs ( about 0.5 lower on average) I'm sure like everything it's individual though and you can only try and see if it's helpful for you. To look at science try the Glucose Goddess website

Btw she says applies to other vinegars except I think balsamic . I gave up balsamic in early diabetes diagnosis days as it's sugar content raised my bgs!

Ploughmans pate sounds good - where do you buy that?
Tesco. In my local store, they have it up beside the deli meats and cheeses, which replaced the deli meats & cheeses counter they closed down (together with the butcher's & fishmongers). They're in prism type containers. They're quite long dated.

Our Island Tescos doesn't sell it, sadly. I'm still intending to make some sort of version of it, but haven't had the energy so far.

It's years since I made yoghurt, and then it was raw goats' milk that I used from our own goats. I am thinking of making it again because the stuff I buy from the supermarket always goes off before I have a chance to finish it. Does anyone know if it will work with pasteurised cows' milk?

Sunday 2 July - bed & FBG 7.5. Swimming stopped for the holidays, so I have my Sundays back for 7 weeks. Today is Hubby's actual birthday, but we're not going out again.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with Ploughman's Pate. Benecol dairy free.

L. A bit of crustless quiche

D. Lemon, parmesan, and garlic French trimmed pork cutlet. Mix of green beans, peas, broccoli, and fried aubergine. CC little chocolate pot (Hubby had his rum Baba plus a rum!). Usual campari and soda and I also had a gin, soda and a strawberry.

Monday 3 July - bed 7.4 FBG 7.2. Aqua fit today. Also, I got to recycling with more stuff in between negotiating laundry, ironing, and drying between downpours!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with Ploughman's Pate. Benecol dairy free.

L. A bit of crustless quiche

D. Leftover cold cuts. Garlic sausage, ox tongue, a bit buttered chicken, pork and egg, rare brisket, coleslaw.

Took a trip to Dobbies today after Aqua as I felt a need to visit Lakeland. I did need to stock up on some things, but I did make other purchases. I got packs of 4 flat boxes to store cold cuts and cheese slices once they are open. They were in the sale. Also stocked up on plants as the garden was still lacking a bit in colour. We'll be back for more though. 20230702_190803.jpg

Evening all,

Today:

B: Two poached eggs topped with a knob of butter, avocado and tiger prawns seasoned with black pepper.
Water to swallow tablets.
Espresso.

L: Mushroom and spinach frittata made with grated Cheddar cheese, eggs, leeks, cream and oregano. Mixed green salad of watercress, chicory, sweet cicely, celery and salad onions, dressed with an olive oil, balsamic, garlic and mint vinaigrette, topped with cashews roasted in butter.
Low carb pudding using milled flax seeds, home made granola, unsweetened almond milk and cream.
Water to drink.

D: Seafood salad made with brown shrimps and mussels, lettuce, fennel fronds, cherry tomatoes, black olives, Romano peppers, salad onions and mustard cress, with a dollop of homemade mayonnaise for dipping, topped with toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
Water to swallow tablets.

@Annb 're yoghurt I use organic full fat long life milk no problems important bit is the whole milk.
Breakfast my usual kefir with hemp seeds and a couple of garden berries
Lunch one rye crispbread with ham and a small tomato followed by a couple of squares of 100% chocolate
Dinner ACV in water then sea bass in lemon butter and a few peas ( really missing our local asparagus, not happy with imported stuff, but suppose it's the short season that adds to its special treat status) with glass of red wine followed by LC cake with decaffeinated coffee.

Late morning: some leftover frittata and a nut bar
Mid afternoon: a chocolate éclair and a cup of tea- my reward for surviving shopping with hubby
5ish: 2 low carb crackers (6g carbs each according to the packet) ham and a spoonful coleslaw.
Off to a "do" again tonight. Will drink wine and eat nibbles, not sure what yet.

Am in that happy space between getting hba1c bloods taken and before the results

It's some years since I last made yoghurt at home, but pasteurised cow's milk certainly works. IMHO, the flavour is far superior to shop-bought cow's milk yoghurt.

As noted above, organic, full-fat whole milk produces the best flavour.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: coffee shop coconut cappuccino and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a Food dr bar.
Dinner: liver and onions with frozen mixed veg., rain out of fresh so ended up with rather too many peas and carrots for my liking!

Welcome @Slayer Mum sorry to hear of your metformin side effects. There are quite a few threads on the forum about it. you may have already seen.

Yesterday brekkie was usual slice LC toast, butter, copious tea.
Lunch was a slice of Ryvita with Dairylea and mug of tea.
Supper was 3 meaty sausages, baked asparagus, odd combo but it worked with a blob of Stokes reduced sugar ketchup.
Today same brekkie.
Lunch will be prawn cocktail with little gem lettuce.
Supper will be chunky cod fingers and cauli cheese.
Last week of asparagus at my local farm Which is later than usual anyway. Can’t deny since I started roasting it with good OO I can’t get enough of it. Going to give tenderstem the same treatment from now on.

Just had what will probably be my only meal today - finally got around to doing the bacon and egg with onion and tomato I've been telling myself I would have for the last few days. I figured, if I didn't cook it and have it first thing, while I have some energy, I would never get around to it. Probably had too much because I'm feeling a bit bloated and not enough space in my stomach for the food to go down.

Still haven't recovered from the Glasgow trip and am having to take many more doses of painkillers than normal, just to try to keep comfortable enough to sit in the chair. But this morning I have to go to get my legs rebandaged and somehow have to walk a bit. Can't take any more painkillers this morning so it is going to hurt!

hello all. Well, my son turned up yesterday! I got the dates wrong. His choice of meal? Fish and chips! So I had a very small portion but my level still went right up. They don't get fish and chips in Texas so their first meal is always that. Back on the wagon today. Have made some tuna and cheese cups and he loves them. So hopefully we will be eating sensible while he is here. Have a nice day folks. :)

My day didn't start well.
So shopping eventually delivered.
I know it is Wimbledon and the adds for the strawberries don't help. They were delicious!!!!!
Ate the whole lot with sour cream
Blown the carbs out of the water.
Followed by salami, cheese and tomatoes.
Shall have the coffee when I get around to it.
