What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Food timings went a bit awry today as we fitted in dog walks to avoid the rain (sorry @shelley262 !)

1 hard boiled egg
Dog walk
2nd hard boiled egg, with black coffee
Shopping, with girl friends
Late lunch: salad nicoise - tuna, egg, green beans, lettuce, New potatoes (left most of the latter)
4pm 2 glasses white wine with soda
6:30 cheese crisps and guacamole, then chicken jalfrezi, using supermarket ready meal, added Precooked chicken to the sauce, then hubby had all the rice and 3/4 onion bhaji and half the chicken and sauce. I had the other half and 1/4 bhaji. 8 cherries
Dog walk.

2sqs 70% chocolate with caramel - too moreish!

But it's now 22:30 and I'm hungry, trying to resist

BTW, the cheese crisps worked perfectly today using the same gouda slices as earlier in the week. The only difference is we are away and so it's a different microwave!

Hi All
Back to yesterday.
Brekkie usual slice LC toast, butter, copious tea.
Lunch was last small bit of crustless quiche, h/g cherry toms and lettuce, spoon coleslaw. Tea
Supper was t/a Tandoori King Prawns and cauli bhajee. 1 popadom. Found it hard to resist the mango chutney. One of my favourite sandwich from eons ago in the London sandwich shops was sausage and mango chutney.
Today same brekkie.
Lunch will be scrambled eggs.
Supper is planned to be bbqd meat but the weather might force it into the kitchen.
@Annb gentle hug for the pain and discomfort and hope you are better today.
@DJC3 hope you found something safe to eat at the festival and had a good time. When you are able to can you explain reverse searing and which cut it works best with.

Morning all. Having had no sleep at all the night before last and a very heavy carb day yesterday,I don't need to tell you my levels are high but I feel as if I don't care anymore. Am tearful most of the time, don't want todo anything. @Annb makes me feel ashamed of myself she has so many more problems than I have. Need to get a grip but don't know how. My friends are taking me out for a carvery today so maybe that will help me get back in control. Any tips would be welcome.

Didn’t mean to leave a “like” intended a teddy! You are probably still shook up from your fall Rosemary. Falls are horrible they make you feel vulnerable. Assume your son has returned home also. I hope you enjoy lunch out with your friends and a carvery sounds good.

As @PenguinMum says, Rosemary. This may be the result of both your fall and the end of your son's visit. Going out with friends is a good plan, especially a carvery. It's good to get together with other people - just human contact can help when you're feeling low, but if it goes on for long, perhaps you should try to get some medical advice, it's too easy to fall into a real depression. These things all depend on your general health, personal circumstances, personal history and many more factors so nobody. other than you, can say if you feel the need for medical help. Difficult to access, I know, but it is there if you need it.

Still eaten nothing - did have a cup of tea when I managed to get to the larder and get a new packet of tea out. I have a piece of haddock that has to be used before it goes off. The sausage that I made will have to be thrown out now - I didn't manage to get the remainder into the freezer either, so it will have to go. Fridge smells very strongly of all the garlic that I put into it.

BG is in the 4-5 range now. Maybe I should just stop eating to keep it at these delightful levels. ;) Beginning to feel a bit hungry now but don't want to stand around cooking - wouldn't manage more than a minute stood at the worktop. Walking is still not easy but I have taken more painkillers to try to ease the situation.

Probably just put the haddock in the microwave with some butter and that should do me for today.

Had the haddock but it seems to have reminded my stomach what it's there for and now I'm hungry. Not sure what to do about that. Nothing available immediately to hand and more tea doesn't seem to fit the bill. Cheese maybe, but that would involve going to the fridge in the back porch - not something to be considered at present. Same for ham - that's in the back porch fridge as well. Have to have a think.

Couldn't be bothered making breakfast so had a packet of pork scratchings late morning (thank goodness there's only another 2 packets left as they're very moreish).

Lunch was salmon baked in parchment with butter and lemon slices, green salad and beetroot.

One glass of white wine, and one glass of red wine.

Couldn't resist another packet of pork scratching as it was calling really loud.

Cheddar and almond nuts for supper.

Under 12g carbs today.

Here’s a link which will explain better than I can. https://www.seriouseats.com/reverse-seared-steak-recipe
It basically roasting a thick steak on a low temp for a few mins, then whacking in a hot pan to sear. I don’t think the cut matters so long as it’s thick. ( mine were rump) I use an airfrier for the first roasting bit.
You’ll never look back!

Rosemary my feeling is the same as @PenguinMum and @Annb - the fall has knocked your confidence and made you feel vulnerable. It’s not an unusual reaction, the same thing happened to a friend of mine. I do hope you enjoy your lunch out with friends. A carvery is a great option but please don’t worry about slip ups at the moment. Take each day as it comes. I’m glad you have friends around who care about you.

Had a super day at Boardmasters festival yesterday and the sun shone most of the time. I didn’t put hard boiled eggs in my pocket however ( but thanks for the suggestions @Antje77 and @shelley262 ) I wanted to travel light as it was a long day with lots of walking and jumping about. I took a small packet of macadamias and chanced a bbq brisket &salad from one of the food stalls. It was a bit sweet but I didn’t have my testing kit so decided not to fret about it. Walked around 25k steps and climbed 25 floors according to my phone so hoping that would mitigate the effect.
The day ended wonderfully with Liam Gallagher and no 3 daughter’s boyfriend proposing to her! Shared a Few squares Montezuma’s Absolute black & orange on the hike back.

Down to earth today. Feeling very tired but happy. Nibbled a lot this morning as I was tired. Bacon DGF roll for breakfast. Nuts, blackberries 100% choc. At various stages throughout the morning.
Lunch/dinner: slow roast pork shoulder. Cauli and broc cheese. Cauli leaves sauteed in butter.
Blackberry clafoutis & cream for pud. Made with freshly picked blackberries. IMG_3205.jpg

Just to say like everyone on this thread that I'm thinking of you. I can imagine that as in any stressful situation like you are living through its automatic to reach for the food solutions we've all used for a long time and they usually include sugar! I'd suspect too that a night without sleep and a big knock to your feelings of independence and confidence, from your fall, make it hard not to resort to the stress comforters that you don't need to think about. Rather than focus on food I'd suggest you think about looking at things like how you could improve your sleep and thinking of non food treats you could indulge in. Pleased you are going out with a friend talking to people who you can share your thoughts with who won't judge you may help. We are here too do take care of yourself and try to have a few treats.
@DJC3 lovely happy news and like you I'm making the most of the wild blackberries at the moment

As well as the blackberries I'm also harvesting tomatoes and raspberries each day from my garden.
Back to topic
Black coffee and a few blackberries that made their way to my mouth when picking in the forest!
1ish some soft blue cheese, a few of my tomatoes and kimchi and two swedish crispbread followed by a mix of raspberries and blackberries with yoghurt and square of 100% chocolate
5ish roast chicken dinner with cauliflower cheese and green beans with glass of dry white wine then LC Blondie with a few berries.

B: 1 cold bratwurst
Cwc
Dog walk
Have a 3pm reservation in a restaurant. Tried skipping lunch but finished off 60% of a bar of 70% chocolate I'd left out on the table.
Almost instant start of a migraine, managed to treat with meds.
Made the reservation on time.
Shared a starter of popcorn prawns and cockles
Main was seabream en papilotte on a bed of tomato, capers olives and new potatoes (left most of those) . Very tasty indeed
Hubby had affogato with added amaretto. I had 3 teaspoonful
Another dog walk... finally in the sun!
Have fasted since as feeling a bit off, not sure if was the rich food or the migraine determined to break through. Time will tell

Morning all. Fbg down to 8.1 today so a bit better. To all who answered my last post, a big hug and my thanks. Enjoyed the carvery yesterday and the company so feel a bit less tearful today. Today it's Pensioners lunch so anything goes. But I will take my cheese and 2 crackers instead of the pudding.

78 today. Bad day as well because I'm having to use a wheelchair to get around the house - might have to lose some funiture. BG is in the 7's so it is still holding. Since I had little food and my BG was pretty low when I finally did eat, I didn't take any bolus insulin yesterday.

Just thinking about breakfast which, if I can manoeuvre my way out to the back porch will be some slices of ham.

2nd meal will have to be pretty simple - maybe scrambled eggs - if I can reach the hob from this chair. Could add some cheese, I suppose but I shan't be messing about getting veg or salad organised.

Should, at least, have lost a bit of weight over the last day or so.
