What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I'm slipping again! I just can't stay on top of things at the moment. Back to Tuesday 12 March bed 7.8 FBG 7.3.

B. TAG and Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. 4 chicken drumsticks & a gin and soda. Then another gin and soda!

My food diary is protesting at the lack of food.

Wednesday 13 March bed 6.7 FBG 6.9

B. TAG and Benecol dairy free

L. A bit of crustless quiche

D. Some prawns with Marie Rose, 1/2 a buratta, slice of smoked salmon, and veggie salad.

Thursday 14 March bed 6.3 FBG 6.7. I've given up on trying to get to my Thursday Aqua for now. I just cannot work it out until grandson's timetable issues are resolved.

B. Just TAG

L. A bit of crustless quiche

D. 3 GF sausages, 2 poached eggs (well one and a bit), slice of GF Black pudding, 4 mushrooms & 4 tomatoes.

The one and a bit eggs were down to me, trying M&S pack of two poached eggs for speed. It's a microwave job. What they don't tell you is to pierce the top. I didn't, and one exploded leave a bit of one egg. The surviving egg was perfectly poached, with a soft yolk. The microwave took a bit of cleaning.

Good afternoon. Been to Lincoln and he said it is most certainly an allergy and obviously I am using whatever I am allergic to every day or so. So it's quite a conundrum! I have more anti-histamines and anti-biotics so we shall see what happens. Sent you all a hug to thank you for your good wishes. X
Thanks for the update @RosemaryJackson. It's good to know you've received prompt medical attention from an eye specialist.
Your GP can arrange some allergy tests to narrow the field of possible allergens.

Thank you @AndBreathe for reassurance. As long as annual checks that's key thing. I do get the measuring and feet checks annually but I keep an eye on my own weight and bp so important stuff is the annual blood tests and eye tests. Will see what DN says on Friday but would suspect that as usual there will be no interest in my good results only my abnormal ldl. I note they have run a Qrisk score already and put on my file ready for the statins push but am certain I have a score loaded as a diabetic even though it has been 9 years now since I had a full blown diabetic hba1c! I'm so pleased I took part in the Leicester heart health study as it's made me more aware of the whole picture 're heart health risk and my high Idl is my only risk in my opinion. Information is crucial to help us make the right decisions for ourselves based on our belief 're risks and benefits of meds.
Can you actually match the QRisk score they have for you? I never can, but then, they must be guessing my height weight for starters.

Leicester work gave me reassurances too. It’ll be 3year in June since I went. How time flies!

That whole piece is exploding into more and more studies and sub studies. It is such important work, in my view.

My brain was saying, "That's a heck of a lot of garlic to get that amount of mash," but of course, there is cauliflower in with it! How do you get it so white? I must give this a try.

Ooh that would have been a lot of garlic on its own. I wouldn’t have dared go to the hairdresser afterwards!
It was 1 whole roast garlic bulb squeezed out into 1 cooked ( steamed florets) cauli, and whizzed up with a stick blender and butter. It was so good. Even Paul loved it and he claims to hate cauliflower

Morning all, early start today, off to Belgium for a short break. We are self catering so intend to be good. Not going to be tempted by Belgian chocs and pastries! Will concentrate on finding some Easter treats for the family.
Yesterday
B Yog,blueberries,seeds
L Courgette and ricotta soup, cheese salad
D Roast chicken,celeriac mash,green beans,courgette and small carrot.

Lol @PenguinMum. Is each head of broccoli priced individually according to weight then?
Yes its “loose” which gets weighed. @Antje77 that is a very good mug with me and my brood on. Btw my favourite word atm is zuurkoolstamppot which seems to me like a mix of all our favourite things.
Today usual brekkie of slice LC toast, butter, copious tea.
Lunch will be some farmshop cheese, a little bit of several, three small water biscuits and a few pickled silverskin onions.
Supper will be lightly spiced chicken breast with veg yet to be determined.
Having a home day today, laundry, making individual cottage pies for tomo. I e with mashed swede. Trying the Singing Swede method as my wrists struggle to cut swede or celeriac these days. Has anyone tried the microwave method for celeriac?

I cooked a whole swede in the microwave the other day, very successful if a bit smelly! I haven't tried microwaving whole celeriac but have some ready to harvest from the garden (I just grew four in a tub) and would love to know how it works out if you give it a try!

I was thinking of you when I chose the mug for my kefir!

I now have a mental image of you doing your chores while softly humming the word zuurkoolstamppot, it's what I do with favourite words and words that sometimes ramdomly stick to my brain. :joyful:
And zuurkoolstamppot is very easy to make, just give it a try. :)

5.9 just before midnight last night when I went to bed. 5.4 when I got up again at 03:30. Very odd.

I felt as though I was having a hypo - hot, shaky, heart pounding, breathless, etc, but when I checked BG was 5.4 so it wasn't a hypo. Same thing happened a few days ago. Checked my oximeter and it gave me a reading of 82% which explains the breathlessness (also happened a few days ago but not quite so low) and pulse of 152 bpm! Not surprising then that I felt odd. Took painkillers and sat in the chair to wait until it all calmed down, which it did. Oxygen back to the normal (for me) 95% and pulse hovering around 80 bpm.
I forgot to take my tablets yesterday - that might have let my BP go up. Not sure if that's what I did last time it happened. Not pleasant so I must remember to take my pills and hope that makes a difference.

Breakfast: BG still pretty low, so didn't take bolus insulin. One chicken thigh and a couple of big spoonsful of bigos. I did take all of my pills afterwards.

2nd meal: Finish the bigos but add some peas to it - I intended to do that before this, but forgot but I will add them today.

Friday 15 March bed 6.8 FBG 7.3. I have to admit @RosemaryJackson, I did wonder about allergies when you described the latest flare-up. There are times I look as if I've gone more than a few rounds with a heavyweight boxer! Watch out for external irritants, too. I have two odd ones, dust and smoke. We discovered this the first time we moved house. Getting into nooks and crannies to clean and burning rubbish (in the days you could). Cleaning now, I have to wear gloves.

B. Just TAG

L. Nothing. We were all heading to the dentist for a check up.

D. A couple of salmon fillets glazed with SRSLY sweet chilli sauce. Remains of the buratta, egg mayo, veggie salad, and 2 M&S wheaten crackers. 20240315_191508.jpg

Neil has allergies to dust and smoke as well. Odd one is peat dust which blows around quite a lot when drying the cut peats, so he has never been able to go with us to bring the peats home although he can go to do the cutting. We don't do it any more though, which is a relief to him.

We are starting to think that Em might be reacting to the laundry powder that her mum uses - she pretty well always sneezes a lot and last week she had that rash and felt quite ill. It doesn't seem to be related to food in her case.

Another hungry but busy day- took advantage of sun being out and did some fence painting there's a lot to do so need to start getting on with it when weather permits it but despite another dry forecast tomorrow we are booked for some caring stuff so will definitely be a stop start job!
Breakfast small kefir then one slice of bacon and one fried egg
Lunch a few bits of cheese with LC seeded crackers and kimchi then a few berries and yoghurt
Dinner two sausages, onions, mushrooms and reheated leftover Swede mash

Just had hm LC lemon bun with decaffeinated coffee.

Well, I didn't do anything about the bigos. My new leg pain kicked in and I couldn't stand up, so spent the rest of the day in the big chair. BG dropped again and I had some coconut biscuits to stop the drop. Libre sounded the High glucose alarm at 10.7! So insulin and cold chicken was the next step. The chicken was sitting in the fridge so was easy to grab but the bigos needed heating - too much for my legs to take so l went without.
