Posted by Dr Dominic Pimenta, the guy who resigned from his cardiology post after Cummings jumped into his car and drove to Barnard Castle so ought to be pukka.
Sad to hear a nurse in Wales has covid 3weeks after being given the Pfizer first jab.Thank you so much@jjraak for your kind and understanding response to my post. Good news today is that a 3rd vaccine has now been approved so at least something positive to cling to. On a personal level I am told that mum has settled well into her new room. Take care and stay safe.

There are definitely some people who would rather take meds than change anything about their diet.
This is complicated by the fact that for years T2s have been advised to base their diet on starchy carbs - which absolutely requires metformin to be prescribed. In my case I needed injected insulin because there was no way metformin could cope with the 70g of starchy carbs I was advised to eat with every meal plus adding starchy carb snacks between meals.
I was one of those people. When I was diagnosed with an Hb1aC of 125 I barely was 9st on the scales - which made me severely underweight. Basically I was just skin and bones but it had not helped my Hba1c at all.True, but some people just lose weight without improving their hba1c!
D.
I think you might well be right. When I cut down on carbs and came off insulin I was so happy and proud that I was in remission. I remember being so upset when a consultant in the eye clinic got so cross with me that he started shouting that I was deluding myself if I thought I was in remission because diabetes was a progressive degenerative disease and I would only get worse and worse. Luckily I have never seen him since.I also wonder whether those GPs that staunchly stand by the 'shut up, eat your carbs and take your tablets' school of thought are those slightly longer in the tooth. While lovely GP is at most in his late 40s if not early 50s like me... he had heard of Libre, and recognises that what costs the NHS dosh is people getting limbs amputated or going blind and nipping that in the bud early is key. Also same view from younger GPs I have occasionally seen in the interim.
Could it be we are not going to be due for much of a change in direction until the older workforce move along?
Just wanted to say I have enjoyed the posts about how people negotiate the balance between medication and diet. Very useful and compared to other parts of this forum I think it is non judgemental - quite open minded. Personally, no Dr or DN has ever mentioned the word progressive or told me to eat carbs/ a balanced diet. They have shown interest in my way of managing my T2. I was never offered DESMOND so one way or another I have been left alone/ very fortunate/blessed.
The story of DESMOND and DN isn't funny but the idea of a DN being like that is funny if the comparison may be seen as a tad racist for some tastes. Glad to hear you are getting another meter and hanging in there in the face of trying circumstances. Very praiseworthy and telling of the man you are. Top stuff.Yeah.. did Desmond's after being on here for a week or two.
Knew more then most..so sad to see many happy to pop meds rather then alter diet
Spoke at end to tutors, agreed we should be more open minded, but they pointed out they are restricted to what they can promote or offer.
Both very nice, but was it of use to me ?
Only as. "I am not alone" type of way.
Worked my socks off to get back to normal numbers (40 HBA1c June 2019 DX aug 2018)
Disappointed not to be asked HOW.
( Metformin & Lower carbs / Healthier fats)
Agree there is a more enthusiastic
view among many on here...can be a touch overpowering.
Still got the eatwell advice at docs
Wasn't & still not comfortable being honest, so just nod & ignore the advice.
Should it be like this..naw.
Are they all old fogeys..
Diabetes nurse could be a model.
German lady, early/mid 30s at a guess.
More Eva Braun re eatwell then mother Teresa
Guess she puts the new way back to 2050..
Wonderful pictures of what looks like a beautiful place to live. You are truly blessed.
