What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning all from The Arid East where the tantalising prospect of light rain showers (13-17% chance) is promised for Monday next. Is hoping for that and a win for The Lionesses on Sunday Boostrism/cakeism/modernEnglandism? Whatevs, it is what I want so yah, boo sucks. Thanks for the story and kaleidoscope @gennepher. I love the idea of a bedtime story for Midnight. @Jojo85 good news on the fbg. @Krystyna23040 excellent news that yesterday was so good. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art and oddly I may try to cut the dust and stray weeds today. @dogslife hug for the too high fbg and best wishes for the HbAic and some helpful advice thereafter. @alf_Josiah splendid table showing good use of your talent and strong zest for life, however eccentrically the latter is manifested at times. Darby and Joan (plus dogs) here for a few days.

@Krystyna23040 have you tried or heard of Feliway? Its a synthetic version of the safe place pheromones a cat produces in its cheek glands. (Put like that sounds disgusting) Using it completely eradicated all complaints from Errant whenever he had to go in a travel cage. Followed timing instructions and used the cover provided, it's horribly garish, but Errant settled down right away and slept most of the journey. Many journeys, some very long.
I know how upsetting it is to have a pet in distress even when we know it's necessary.
Hope this helps both you and Poppy.

Thank you for the good wishes @ianpspurs. Some good news-I had the result of my retinopathy test this morning saying no diabetic damage to my eyes. We watched the match last night too and are hoping for a win on Sunday. Best wishes to you and yours.

G'day all.

Riding the BG:7 Express still...
But it is what it is.

Have taken stock & now taking doctor at his word.

So have upped the exercise & doing the exercises as directed.

All with the aim of hitting the window between now & late September..in an attempt to make that 2nd op a non event

In that vein,. I ventured out with our Steph & furry nephew.

I took e-scooter (no booing at the back please )

Idea was to walk using scooter as a crutch, worked well but have to admit it wasn't as much walking as I would have liked..but more then I have been managing of late

After, Steph suggested we make a day of it, a beer or meal ....left message with nephew & niece, who both replied late , after we'd decided on food.

So complete change of plans, and met up with them for a beer.

Surprise of the night...eng v swe on TV.

Me & nephew glancing up, once in a while, before long, we turned to look at other and asked " ARE we really watching this ? "

Absolutely...

Great game, well played, NO acting.
Rather enjoyable.

Shall be watching Sundays final ...

"C'mon EN-GER-LUUND.. "

I hear that Genn.

I still bristle at any attempt to help.
Offers made are politely declined..
But any hands on....GRRR.

Good advice on how to do so in a more positive fashion ..cheers

Sound like your kind of a day...just a little log cutting to make it perfect

The hands on, without clearing it first causes sharp pain
@jjraak

Anyway, a funny story about the help offered me about 35 years ago. My hearing dog Truffle and I were coming home from Liverpool on the train. We had got to the railway station. I always let Truffle off the lead on a bit of wasteland so she could relieve herself. She still had her yellow Hearing Dog jacket for the Deaf on. So it was very clear she was an assistance dog for the DEAF. And I was holding the lead which said the same words on it.

This woman comes charging towards us in a total panic, runs to Truffle as she is mid-stream. I can still see the steam rising from it. She grabs Truffle by the collar, hauls the poor dog towards me, takes the lead out of my hand, and clips Truffle to it. She wraps the lead round my hand half choking the poor dog. Then the mad woman takes my other hand, leads me off the wasteland, patting my hand saying 'There, there dear', and she places my spare hand on the railings telling me to let the railings guide me. And I would be safe, or some such thing.

It took a moment or so to realise she had thought I was blind, and that she thought my 'blind' dog had escaped from me. She kept shouting encouragement or some such thing to follow the railings, which I didn't dare not do at that point, and those railings by the way led down to the train tracks...

Finally she disappeared. Truffle and I escaped...

@dunelm this could be a couple of our cider apple trees, with the shading representing the burden of mistletoe they bear.. nice sketch.

Hugs for all those with traumatic memories of cats, dogs and any other animal.
For me its rats. When I was about ten I accidentally got hold of one. Put my hand into a bag of guinea pig food and found warm fur. Thinking about it now, I was lucky not to be bitten, but at the time I had the biggest screaming fit ever. It was years before I could even look at one in a pet shop and once we had to abandon a house viewing because I came over all sick and faint on seeing one in the garden. The phobia is mostly in abeyance now( fifty years later) but can still catch me out on occasion.
