As for #woodburnergate Elf-N-Safetea with no plus szed room and several small grandchildren, plasterboard walls and lipstick on pigs syndrome militate against that. One more winter and this shower should be given the old Spanish Archer unless they put us and themselves out of this miserable shambles. JKP's hospital appointment goes ahead today as it is in the heart of Matty boy's constituency not Cambs. Gee up very up market, Petro state owned, Neddy type of thing. Stay warm, avoid slips and trips but keep taking the pills or not - whatever boils yer bacon.

Well, I have no gas heating now since the boiler went to meet its maker, so it's all electric here. So it is heat the room and heat the person

The oil radiator is the safest, and I have that.

I learnt one thing from the article, that modern ceramic heaters are not encased in metal as my old nearly 40 year old ceramic heaters are. And that the casing apparetly gets very hot in modern ceramic heaters. This must be a fire hazard.

My ancient ceramic heaters are encased in heavy metal, and even after continuously blasting out 2kw of hot air, are still cold to the touch after 4 hours, and no smell at all from them.

Thanks for the heating tips. I think we are good to go with a very big radiator for such a small - in my opinion anyhow - room. We have heaters but they don't look or work right for me. We knocked two larger than average rooms into one in the Old Country and took the chimney breast back to brick. Both the aesthetic and heating effect were really good. It never occurred to me that anyone would be so dumb as to build houses this way or that Bob the Buider couldn't knock most walls down and create something liveable. Turns out some pigs just can't wear lipstick but are structurally sound. My ideal is the brick, wood and white, if you must paint things, old church/warehouse style.

Lovely neighbour sadly passed away recently.

So we noticed his cat was now hanging around outside in the street.

I began feeding it.

Speaking to other neighbour seems the brother was going to come collect the cat.

Which I was told he did
(No contact details for him , so Chinese whispers.)

Laurens tells me cat I feed is a rough street cat (beats up the others, so she says ) but does look similar to our neighbours one.

But it's bitterly cold outside at moment, so even though it's not the cat I thought it was, it now hangs around & mugs me to feed it, which I do happily.



Sharing pics of this rough stray, reveals it IS my deceased neighbours cat.

And brother has taken the rough street cat in error.

No way to contact brother I can think of

Lauren thinks charities won't want the cat & if they do it won't get rehomed...very much not a kitten.

Frankie loves Marley cat, but hates this one , so hard to see us taking it in...( Tho I'll be honest I am tempted, but it's a joint decision I can't make alone )
And it probably causes as many problems as it solves, sadly.

So, I'd be grateful for any suggestions...

You don't know what the brother did to the street cat after he took it , @jjraak Maybe he only took what he thought was the right cat to save face. After all he didn't even know what the cat looked like.

So , the deceased neighbour's cat maybe got the better deal?

Advice. Sorry. Got none really. This probably only ends one way if you hand it over to a charity, quite possibly they won't even take it on. But if you can carry on feeding it, without upsetting Lauren and other two beasties too much, and see what develops. You live in a city, plenty of places it can sleep. It might even find another idiot like me who took on Midnight despite him being bullish and matted to heck.

I'd like to say bide your time with this one if you can somehow manage it. That's my two pennyworth.

I have still got a BBC issue Transmitter group Balaclava from 50 years ago but I wouldn't expose myself to those kind of blizzards where it's needed as an old man with a pacemaker.

The duchess dropped a rather nice new jumper on High Pike once, we came down via Carrock and lost it so we reckoned a Herdwick resented having it's wool taken and wore it.:)

Very wise not to expose yourself to those kinds of blizzards where your Balaclava is needed. In Norfolk the winds from the east mean that I need clothes suitable for an Arctic Explorer during our dog walks.
 
6.2 this morning. Very cold sub zero dog walk this morning. Archie was OK on the paths but refused to walk on the grass in the park. The grass was very crunchy underfoot.

Yesterday I finished all my cards and posted them. Will hand deliver the local ones once the paths are not too icy. My new boots have been brilliant. Non-slip and very warm.

No complaints from Kiki this morning. Breakfast being about two hours late set her off the other day.
Two of my friends have lost beloved pets this w/e. One cat has just disappeared. It might be the hunt got it? Have never seen a cat more loving towards his owners. So to be missing four days is unheard of. The other lady suspects one of her neighbours of killing her elderly, blind jack Russel terrier. Have no idea why this neighbour is described as evil. To be suspected of such a thing must have cause. How terrible to live close to someone who is malignant towards you.

I am going through some rubbish at the moment, and I keep letting this negative in my head, but I keep throwing it out of my head. it is only in my head if I allow it to be there, and I'm trying to eject it.

It seems impossible, it is incredibly upsetting what you're going through, and no she has not ruined the whole of 2023 for you. Don't let her do this to you.

I do have an idea of the emotions you're going through. I am not saying it is easy, it is not, but do not let her do this to you.

Harden your heart towards her to get over this period of upset, and protect yourself emotionally. You can soften your heart later when the time is right.

Protect yourself. That is very important for you. Do not respond or argue with her. That will be an emotional merry go round.

Protect yourself, please.
 
Hug for the effect your sister has had @SlimLizzy. Good advice from @gennepher if very hard for someone like yourself. There are certainly advantages to being an only child. @jjraak hug for the cat dilemma and as for the film clip I know that one: used a variation often when dealing with students who made weaker colleagues' lives difficult. Steve Barclay, MP for some very wayward and poor parts of Fenland, uttered the attached. Well Stevie Baby, we couldn't afford Brexit, Boris, dodgy PPE contracts, Eat out to help out or Truss. Didn't stop you and the SELs (thanks, call me Dave) cheering while urinating the money up the wall.

I think some people are so right in their own minds they find that they have to give anyone they know a regular bollocking. If you have a relative like that they are a pain in the neck.
My older sister thought she had the right to get nasty anytime because she misjudge our actions or lack of actions, but give a completely different front to others.
We went to see her twenty years ago just after my radiotherapy. I didn't know if I would keep in remission at the time but the malice in the house was horrible and Marjorie wanted to leave.
We decided to stick it out but she cut all our family off which was intended anyway.
Eventually she got bad dementia and I went to see her again and she forgot her driving hate and even at one time rang me up 6x a day.
Even though at the end she recognised me and Marjorie she didn't know who the man she lived with was... Her husband.
So dementia reunited us but she died in very neglected way with bed sores and none of her so called friends visiting her.
She died eight years ago her husband three years ago.I did not shed a tear for months.
It wasn't a passing I would have wished on anyone. In childhood she saw a younger sister die and my father die of cancer at 43 so I guess her young life screwed her up.
One has to make allowances for people and their problems.

I would never in a million years have connected the art and Linda's explanation whereas the longer essay in the book is all perfectly clear. Guess I'm not a visual learner except with angles and space on sports fields.
 
Fbg - when the meter comes out of its shock at these freezing temperatures, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I found a box of delicious biscuits I was given last Christmas. And I put them away. Just found them...

I am having chicory coffee and these delicious continental biscuits with my early morning meds...might as well enjoy them...

This video is from the 19th of November, I am still very behind in posting all the more interesting video clips. Jade does not realise the rat is there to start with, and then once she realises she takes an avid interest. There was no more to this video because she was off the swing on the next 2 minute clip so I did not see what happened.

But Mr Rat has not been seen since 19th of November (he had been seen daily on the nighttime videos, and cat Midnight tolerated Mr Rat who I think got very careless in this garden of cats, but since Jade became guardian of the the swing and garden, his days were numbered) and it is now Friday 16 December, Mr Rat has not been seen, so I think we can safely say R.I.P Mr Rat has who has now passed into another dimension...

I have no doubt we will get another rat visitor, but cat Jade appeared to be very quick at dispatching rodents once she sees them.

It is one I did awhile ago, and it has been overworked on, but I tried again this morning, and it is perfect for what the oak tree at the end of my road looks like with the early morning blinding sun shining through it...

Those biscuits are far too moreish...bin them...

A cup of hot water now to take away that addictive sweetness...

Still -6 outside this morning...

Much more wintry than autumnal. Brilliant light effect. You really do have a touch of Turner in your make-up, gennepher.

FBG 8.8. The house is still very cold, despite our outdoor temperature being higher than most of the rest of the country (around -2) I'm still shiveringly cold inside the house. Big jumper plus knitted poncho and a small heater on the warm the kitchen up a bit but my back and fingertips are icy. Already had 2 mugs of hot tea but I'm still shivering. I shall sit and watch the TV news with another cup of tea, under a blanket and with the too long sleeves of my poncho over my hands.

Don't think I posted yesterday - had a bad day but all's well because, despite the cold, I feel quite cheery today. Before settling down with some tea, I shall brave the cold in the hallway and go to switch off the external lights. I put them on in case Em came this morning, but her mum must not be doing an early shift today, so she hasn't arrived.
