What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I swore I was not going to let upset at my sister drive me to drink and eat too much. This has happened frequently before. Managed to hold off on the wine, two small glasses only. But late in the evening did eat a whole 300g packet of chocolate gingerbread hearts. You know the ones with a jammy centre. Usually i dont even like them. Then two pieces of toast with lots of butter and several slices of cheese. Am amazed at FBG this morning.
Warmer here than UK. My brother reports -8, in MK. Here it is only -3.
This morning French lesson. Shopping this afternoon. MrSlim wants to stock up on building materials. I would like to find some Christmas cards.

FBG 8.8. The house is still very cold, despite our outdoor temperature being higher than most of the rest of the country (around -2) I'm still shiveringly cold inside the house. I shall sit and watch the TV news with another cup of tea, under a blanket and with the too long sleeves of my poncho over my hands.

Don't think I posted yesterday - had a bad day but all's well because, despite the cold, I feel quite cheery today. Before settling down with some tea, I shall brave the cold in the hallway and go to switch off the external lights. I put them on in case Em came this morning, but her mum must not be doing an early shift today, so she hasn't arrived.

I have given up with the heating. I get the temperature up a few degrees in the bedroom, after a full blast with the ceramic heater. And within 15 minutes at these outside temperatures, the bedroom temperature goes woomph all the way down to its previous cold temperature. Waste of money etc.

You should not be shivering. My bedroom is 4C. But I am not cold. Two vests, two t shirts, two dresses, 2 long jumpers, and two massive fluffy dressing gowns, two hats, three pairs of trousers (one pair is fur fabric). And I am toasty warm. I have never in my life layered like this before. But it works for me. Please put an extra layer on for your back if it feels cold like you say.

Put cushions/pillows/ something round your back to keep your back warm as you watch the tv Ann.

I would love some toast, but no bread here...but there might be crumpets in the freezer...

Archie is definitely feeling a lot better. When he is ill he is so obedient. He sleeps on his downstairs bed which is good as we have hard floors downstairs and accidents are easy to clean up and he takes his antibiotics with no problem.

Last night there was no way he would stay downstairs - luckily there were no accidents. Administering the antibiotics this morning became a wrestling match. He is so stubborn, but thank goodness we won in the end.

He is such a loving and gentle dog but oh so stubborn. Luckily he really likes the kaolin and the firm stool tablets so no problem with that part of the treatment.

Cat & Rat (look for the rat's eyes in the bush)
This video is from the 19th of November, I am still very behind in posting all the more interesting video clips. Jade does not realise the rat is there to start with, and then once she realises she takes an avid interest. There was no more to this video because she was off the swing on the next 2 minute clip so I did not see what happened.

But Mr Rat has not been seen since 19th of November (he had been seen daily on the nighttime videos, and cat Midnight tolerated Mr Rat who I think got very careless in this garden of cats, but since Jade became guardian of the the swing and garden, his days were numbered) and it is now Friday 16 December, Mr Rat has not been seen, so I think we can safely say R.I.P Mr Rat has who has now passed into another dimension...

I have no doubt we will get another rat visitor, but cat Jade appeared to be very quick at dispatching rodents once she sees them.

It is one I did awhile ago, and it has been overworked on, but I tried again this morning, and it is perfect for what the oak tree at the end of my road looks like with the early morning blinding sun shining through it...

Those biscuits are far too moreish...bin them...

A cup of hot water now to take away that addictive sweetness...

Still -6 outside this morning...

Ah, the temptation of the biscuits. Is it Moorish or is it moreish - or both slammed together a long time ago? Wonderful art giving that blinding paleness of a low rising sun.

Good morning everyone from a disappointing sunny start here in the dark and dangerous north. Not really, glad the snow had gone but if it goes hot and cold for weeks on end the plants will get confused. My friends who live in Finland tell me that it’s not the work of moving snow from their drive every couple of days that is the problem, more, where to put it all. There is an ice sculpture trail in town tomorrow with street entertainment, Sally Army brass, choirs, mincing tarts and hot boozy drinks - what’s not to like. Art bit - an outline of a gateway to some steps. No idea what we are doing today but it will be marvelous no doubt. First nice treat - koffy.

I have someone in my family with a narcissistic personality disorder and it was really upsetting to deal with them and to try and keep the peace. I often resorted to biscuits to help me cope with it.

On one occasion they said that they were cutting all contact with a family member and I must also cut all contact with them. I said no - I was not doing that and was promptly also cut off.

Life has definitely got a lot nicer since then and I haven't tried to get back into their good books. Actually one family member who got cut off got back into favour by begging on hands and knees on their doorstep after spending the night on the doorstep begging through the letter box. There is definitely no way I would do that.

Dealing with the person over the years had been quite difficult and in the end I did have counselling which did help a lot.
 
Good morning all from a bright but freezing Forest Heath.- 7 when I checked at 7.32 after dealing with dishwasher and dogs and tea delivery for when JKP awakes. Special size blue Nespresso travel mug for morning tea.Green for nighttime iced water, black for coffee in a car. It is super salmon salad day: reasons to be cheerful Mr Drury. I ventured into Newmarket yesterday just in time to see some very sleek thoroughbred racehorses being taken to and returning from The gallops. Beautiful animals, totally pampered, they move so gracefully when they do their work. I have an uncle who knows most of the blood lines and has funded extended vacations in USA and Canada on that knowledge. Flat racing only in Newmarket so in theory much easier to calculate the odds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newma...cecourse is made up,though this is rarely met. Think I'll make this a two part post so people can add extra layers, walk about or make a hot beverage for warmth. Anyone know how I can restore format options including hyperlinks - they don't even carry over from google docs? would rtf do the trick?

Temperature gone up from -5 to 0 in two hours since sun up
Set go above freezing and start thawing soon.

Fieldfares eating fallen apples and disagreeing.
same with Blackbirds and Robins.

Have to warm up the Fabia and clear gateway of frozen mole spoil to get out to go to shops.

This will be first time its gone above freezing since Sunday.
Birds extremely tame picking up food the duchess has put outside the back door and drinking from an old frying pan.
