good morning all :)

4.3 today

The chicken curry was well recieved yesterday ;)

it's looking a bit grey today but that hasn't stopped our neighbour getting out there with his chainsaw, I'll admit I went out for a quick 'nosy' which I cannily covered by the carrying of some peanuts to the bid feeder but couldn't see anything happening :hilarious:

We may go out and do a bit of shopping today, must get almond milk and a couple of types of ground spice ( at least ground cardamom, garam masala and mixed spice ), that are either finished or getting past their best.

Hope your day treats you well :)

Morning All. 5.3 this morning so back in the zone. @OldButBold your post so interesting there are just so many mysteries. I think if you are ill or under the weather the odd deviation off the path is allowed. I enjoyed reading about the buttery crumpets more than Popeye’s mouse TMI for me @gennepher but hugs for the lack of sleep. @HarryBeau cant wait to hear which kitties you come home with. @ianpspurs I just wonder if our bodies get used to sticking to a certain level of carbs and then raise the bar. Might it be worth mixing it up a bit some days I wonder.
Have a good Monday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

I changed my dietary lifestyle dramatically when I was diagnosed, removed all sugars and 80% of my carbs. Apart from dropping my blood sugars in a little over a week I have seen no other benefits. Now I just try for 'happy' ;)

Just back from the docs, walked there so my lungs must be getting better. He wants to see me again next week but at least I'm off the drugs :)

Sounds horrible Krystyna glad you rallied later in the day, not surprised about the headache though, you must have lost a lot of fluid. Whatever caused it, I hope it’s gone for good.
@DJC & @jjraak Thankfully has definitely gone for good and am feeling a lot better this morning. Drinking lots of water has definitely helped the headache.

6.2 this morning. I think I didn't wash my hands properly but didn't want to waste a test strip testing again because 6.2 isn't really that bad - especially after being ill. Did a test 2hrs after breakfast and it was 6.6 which I am really pleased with.

Today is first day of half term holiday. Am having a full day of admin to get absolutely up to date. Have scheduled Thursday as another admin day but the rest of the week we are out and about with doggies and then doggies and grandchildren.

We bought our 13 year old chocolate labrador when he was 10 months old from a lady who found him much too strong to cope with. She rings every year to check on how he is doing. She really did love him but he was so big and strong and boisterous. She loves to hear all the places he visits and all his stays in hotels. She thanked us for giving him a lovely life. - which was so nice. We are actually really lucky to have him as he has turned out to be a lovely gentle and affectionate dog, even though he is so stubborn and still as strong as an ox.

A sensible if not scintillating 6.1 today.
it'll do for me.

Another one here guilty of going off piste at the weekend (aka Sunday)
madam wanted a trip out to matallan and i needed a day away from the refurb indoors, so of we went.
Shopping doen, we headed through the southall traffic to a little restaurant the missus found, through work colleagues, , that specialises in Dosa's..two ordered, then back into the traffic to go home and eat...deliciousness personified.
The pancake and curry mix is gorgeous BUT it is the sauces that lift it up into a pure heavenly flavour.

Am aware a few hadn't had these..(pre india nor had i)
oh how i wish we all lived close enough to have a meet up, i'd love to bring some along just so all of you could have a chance to savour this dish, in particular this restaurants version..did i mention how delicious it was..lol

Have a good day all.

and @PenguinMum

welcome back, the 6's liked you, but the 5's LOVE you..
long may that be the norm..:)

Surfs up, dude....:D

My best vehicle was a 4.2 litre Nissan Patrol, I did 700,000 miles in it and only ever replaced some wheel bearings and one half shaft. It never missed a beat even though driven down ravines, rivers, took part in the Malaysian Rain Forest Challenge and Australian Outback Challenge, it was still running when I sold it to a Russian for more than I purchased it for, apparently the engines are like hens teeth in Russia, amazing engineering.

well i'd ask for WAY more details, @Muddy Cyclist , but i'm pretty sure we would derail this thread completely.
fascinating stuff, still be interested in knowing more, though...(sorry folks.:bag:)

@gennepher hugs for the sleeping issues but apart from that I loved your post today Popeye is a wonder of nature. Hope you have a disgracefully fabulous day today.
@HarryBeau I’m so excited for you can’t wait to see photos of the little ones.
@OldButBold a really interesting post. I don’t think any of us will ever become experts in this, but at @ianpspurs says n=1 is the only thing we can talk about reliably.
@dogslife -the window cleaner embarrassment has happened to me too - hope you wear pjs to bed!
@PenguinMum so glad you’re back in the zone now.
Oops nearly forgot - I had 5.7 this morning which is fine by me.

@HarryBeau , that does sound like a most marvellous day is going to be had by all.
3 go mad in London...does have a ring too it...great idea for a book, perhaps ? ;)
A +1 here for the update and COMPULSORY Cat pictures etc., if you'd be so kind..:D

@OldButBold ..Buttered crumpets..MMHHH..and "butter leaking like a ground tanker"..beautifully described.

Agree on the food front, i too cut back drastically, yet, the wonders of the bodies mechanisms don't always run true to form..
i wonder if internally a version of world events...... Hong kong, barcelona, the french yellow jackets, spring to mind, IS the norm, as we battle back against this insidious disease..
not withstanding the fact, we are still very much prone to the illnesses mere mortal sustain here on earth,

So how on earth any process, could be linear when the intricacies of our daily lives/input must be a constant crash of food +drug+illness meteors hitting our bodies immune system..best we can hope for is to hold our nerve, guide ourselves as best we can, and hope to keep an even keel, after every storm.

@dogslife ..major hugs for the worrying phone ring.
THAT was always my first thought on any late night early morning calls..Hope mums all ok today.:)

Ps..sure there was a movie of your encounter with the window cleaner...:D

best wishes @mojo37 , that for you the the 5's are back on trend.

and @geefull ..nice scores, but did you have to mention the curry and all those delicious sounding spices...:woot:
stomach now urging me to get on and source tonights JJ Towers version..:hilarious:

@Krystyna23040 ..Loving the lady calling re the dog..how wonderful that connection is still there...( we had similar with the bengal stray we found, lady sends pics and updates to lauren, love her.)

The world is full on people like yourselves, caring, selfless and loving, all brought out in it's finest by the care shown to those we get entrusted with by some divine being in their infinite wisdom.

They say animals/pets give and love unselfishly.
i'm a big believer that simply being around them, helps us to give of ourselves as selflessly as they do.
(though to be fair, cats do abuse that notion, totally, and fully extract the urine, as an old saying, sort of goes.. ;)..:hilarious: )

@gennepher ..hugs for the lack of sleep.
curious about popeyes needing the approval it seemed to seek, before going all Python on the mouse, though?

I wanted to rate this three times. Win for you, Win for Popeye, Hug for the mouse.

hahaha...Love your view of that post, @SaskiaKC ..:hilarious:

also liking the car updates...GMC..hahaha..

can't say the US cars really fitted in over here, once the 70's detailing went out of fashion.
we did get the jeep, obviously, and then they made it a BOX shape, perhaps the ugliest car on the roads over here, i think
(i spotted a suzuki jimny yesterday that to my eye succeeded way better then JEEP did with that style of design.)

Mushroom omelette. Yummy.

For info. Diabetes.org wanting remission success stories. For me it's beennlow carb healthy fat all the way. Something they dont advocate. Opposite for them, high carb low fat. Results should be very interesting.

This is the car I drive for Miss Daisy. To be honest, it is awesome, a beautiful little car that I would never have looked at in my own life.

I was having this conversation with a friend regarding god. They are hyper religious and everything is 'prayed for'. My comments were a bit long so I'll try to shorten it.

Me - "Your body is made up of billions of cells, mostly bacteria with a few viruses, that's the 'meat and potato' of what we are. Who we are is a different thing, so let's just look at the 'what'. You are in charge of this universe called 'your body' which is, in fact, billions of self-driving organisms that have lives, jobs even, and a timeline. They are born and die, they reproduce, and maybe they love one another. They certainly have a 'police force' and 'medical care', and all this happens right inside you.

Do you pay attention to those billions of lives? I mean, they spend their entire existence making sure You exist, and the only time you notice them is when it goes wrong when it threatens You.

Do you think they pray, or maybe beg for forgiveness, or mercy?

Humans think they are the same, but we are multiverses existing side by side, each one of us a god creator to the billions of lives within. Each cell 'made in our image', after all, every cell contains the DNA blueprint to create a whole You"

I'll cut it short there, but you get the gist ;)

Edit to say the body has around 37 TRILLION cells :)

first up..the Jimny?
Nice ..liked the one i saw.

2nd..like the analogy, and so true.

do we ever say how well it's working as often as we moan it's creaking or letting us down in some way.
always a wonder to me that the 'Blueprint' comes out anywhere near enough to the original so many times
when you begin to understand just HOW complicated the entire process is.:wideyed:

and i thought as we are admiring the universe around us, this would be a most suitable soundtrack to reflect on natures wonders all around us.
Glorious sound.
