What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@gennepher I agree not your usual strong colours but captured a very Spring atmosphere, suggestions of white and pink blossom. I do prefer the index card this time.

All this talk of antibiotic wipes and sprays, gloves and masks, are they really necessary? Our esteemed government says it's sufficient to get patriotic and wash your hands whilst singing the National Anthem. :singing:

What a legend that man is so please, please be quiet during the rugby for him. Not too much to ask is it?:angelic:
I think it is the England game this Saturday so I will be the perfect wife and retire to the conservatory with a coffee and newspaper. Must find some ear plugs as he is not a quiet spectator - especially when they score a try.

Thank you @Muddy Cyclist I like the index card better out of the two...

A wing and a prayer comes to mind with your last paragraph...

Bit of a stretch but in my addled mind the song fits my altered relationship with food and vital signs. I hope the lyrics help @gennepher The explainer vid seems to go the heart of my relationship to this forum and lifestyle principally food and drink (not finances or music) - i.e. all in all I'm better off in than out - not sure about you guys having me around. If too pretentious, the music is rather spiffing IMHO. Sorry I can't find text version of the explainer vid.

I agree but people on the move can find it very difficult to find proper handwashing facilities. That option is fine in your own home but most washrooms out and about leave a lot to be desired. My husband has asthma and gets breathing problems with any cold so I think it is responsible to take any precautions available to us.

Interesting @ianpspurs
Thanks for the lyrics of the song...
The second where she explains, already has captions (there is a little box I could bring up with that one) so I was able to follow. And that was illuminating.

Whilst the overall number of deaths and severe problems may be statistically "insignificant" death is the ultimate N=1 event. As per @PenguinMum and Mr PM, Julie. my boys, grandchildren and DILs aren't statistics. So, personally, the precautions are very valid and the very fact "That F Gurning Man" says it will be fine is enough for me to know it won't for a whole host of us. Your mileage may vary considerably.

Morning all. Calm and clear daybreak. Almost looks like Spring, but too cool yet.

FBG 6.9 mmo/lt at 0600.

Off to buy shed loads of provisions later. Thinking about wearing disposable gloves for holding the trolley and Smart zapper. I have these in the car anyway for use during diesel refueling. Also I think I can make Alcohol Hand Gel by mixing regular squirty anti-bact. hand wash with Surgical Spirit at a 40:60 ratio. Any HCP comments?

Have a great virus-free day everyone.

There is a thread on forum, where others have been talking about this, I've already spoken with @Debandez and @OldButBold , and we seem to be on the same page as you.

To save reposting, here is the link to my post, where I too, feel that simple routines now will help everyone, but we just need to stop the narrative. That THIS" is just FLU"..

Not helpful, and I think in the end, simply promotes the spread of the virus ... Pretty sure most of those in the worst affected areas thought the same, let's PLEASE god, learn from their unfortunate mistakes. And give this wretched virus AND each other, the respect and protection we need as one society #respectandprotect

Another factor for me is our close friend who is a member of our family (I am her next of kin) has just come through agressive cancer treatment, is having unrelated major surgery on Mar 13 and coming home to us for two weeks recuperation. So while I am not in panic mode I am really thinking this through to make us as safe as we can be. I have asked house viewers and the agent to wear gloves before they enter. That is my biggest concern atm.

I have been thinking a couple of weeks or so on all this @True Blue

Yesterday I was at the hospital and strangely the little red stations where you put the sanitiser on your hands had all gone, zilch. Although the audiologist in her room had one for her personal use. I also noticed that previously many of the staff had personal sanitisers, but there was an absence of them yesterday. What do they know that I don’t?

However in the toilet, the air blow hand driers had ALL been removed, and it was paper towels now to dry hands. They have been newly installed.

I carry big antiseptic/virus prevention wipes to clean the toilet seat now (I don’t have the manoeuvre ability to hover). Another wipe and I clean the taps and toilet flush handle etc before I use them.

I have purple gloves and black fabric gloves...and so I bought black disposable gloves, and also purple ones to wear underneath. This means if I have to take my glove off to count money change, then it still actually looks as if I am still wearing both gloves. It just means it doesn’t look scary and odd to others at this stage of the epidemic.

Gloves get thrown in a bucket when I get home to be washed, and disposable gloves disposed of.

The way I see this, is the sooner I do protection stuff, then it becomes second nature to me. My immune system, like many on this thread, is compromised, so any protection help I can give it surely can only be for the good. I am still going out and doing stuff, but if I know you have caught a plane, come back from Singapore or Rome and you have texted me for a coffee, then my answer was no...

I know this epidemic is virtually impossible to avoid, but I will do what I can for me, yet still live a normal life.

Just a thought. I wonder if the hand sanitizers work, because you are wiping whatever virus into your hands and not off them? Are they just an illusion we are doing hand hygiene in this epidemic?
Warm soapy water for cleaning hands is better than any sanitiser ;)

Like how you related to a particular song, i do that too.
(great song btw )

And the explanation, ...agree, isn't that how all relationships work, that partner that offers the support
we all need at some point, as a couple, a group like fleetwood mac, or a forum.

While none of us are identical to each other, we do build relationships and a support network of sorts,
and like any relationship, that can ebb & flow, as one side lets us in a little bit more to their way of seeing the world, or we mildly disagree with a point or stance they have at some point in time.

Usually it's just a short diversion and we meet back on the same road further up, and all a little wiser.

think the old saying of "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" say's it best.

I do need to do some more tree studies with the silver birches. I need to observe that lovely bark a bit more.

I do love silver birches. We have a beautiful weeping silver birch in our front garde. We planted it before we found out that I was highly allergic to beech pollen - but I would never get rid of it because it is such a beautiful tree.

4.9! What's going on. Cant believe my luck Haha. I can feel in myself when I'm in the 4s. Knew before scanning tbh.

Not had chance to catch up on here, to be quite honest I'm obsessively reading info on coronavirus! Even speaking to a young man in Wuhan who is in isolation. With his young family. He shares videos on Twitter of how they are all coping. Managing well under the circumstances. Even smiling through it all. Mask on but it's from the eyes! They order food etc online. It has become more expensive but is available. The isolation is certainly working from a new numbers perspective.
Have a good Tuesday everyone. I'm at my BIL working on his flat. New furniture arriving today. He has an office chair to sit at the table when he goes on his laptop, absolutely loves it.

My hand wash post was supposed to be a jibe at our PMs advise, sorry if it came over otherwise, I agree take care especially with other health issues.

Recently, we got a hot virus Her name is Corona
Where is she from? She’s coming from Wuhan
Admist the peace, she suddenly appears
We definitely got to stay alert To keep her from spreading
We definitely got to be responsible
To keep her from exploding
