What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I was so hungry on the way home. I always have some food and a flask of tea with me when I go somewhere, but I so didn't want that. So I bought a prawn sandwich (nothing else suitable; the rest looked half dead), and used my trusty spoon just to eat the middle of it...but the weather was that bad I stopped again, and got an egg sandwich. Spooned the middle out. They were a couple of rest breaks of a few minutes that I needed. There were thunderous lorries speeding - so much water spray from them, even my windscreen wipers on full were inadequate (why do things speed in bad weather, as though they are trying to outrun it). I'd have cancelled if I had known the weather was going to be that bad...

Just been sleeping the sleep of the dead this last evening, fell asleep when I got in...woke up at midnight starving, and with a headache. I can't be hungry, probably I just need some more water/tea/etc. Trying to rectify that now...

EDIT: It's now 1:15, over an hour later, I feel much better now I have got just some water (about a litre) and some tea in me. Headache is gone, and I don't feel excessively hungry anymore.

Fbg 6.5

Windy and rain here.

Nighttime wild life videos
Badgers and a Fox (55secs)
PaBadger and BoyBadger from last year are on this video
No new badgers this year (so far) from MaBadger and PaBadger (but they could be keeping them near their den).

Creative...a photo of a yellow rose was used for this Kaleider Kaleidoscope....to cheer you up if you have a dull day and biblical rain...

Have your best kind of day.

Take care...

Yes @gennepher. The badgers' sett could be some distance from their foraging areas.
Thank you for sharing a fascinating nighttime video and a cheerful Kaleider Kaleidoscope.

Wednesday's FBG 4.6 mmol/L on waking at 6.00 am.

A hug for what sounds an horrendous journey @gennepher

It might not seem it, but I'd suspect all the extra tension on our muscles, when driving, in such conditions.

That constant 360° monitoring for danger through a distorted field of vision, tightens up each muscle like a mini gym class, no wonder you felt so tired .

But a win for the deep sleep helping you recover so speedily .

Here's to a relaxing rest of the night .

Good morning everyone on a bright and sunny yet chilly start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.3 this a.m. Girl In The Bubble stayed over last night. We did some finger painting. She has now departed on the Mrs Miggins school run. No idea what today will bring so I am just going to enjoy this sunshine while it’s on offer. Art bit - a tree and something called “a flower in the sunshine”. Have a good day, I am now rushing off to try out my new koffy appliance.
Thank you for sharing your artwork @dunelm.
That tree looks as though it has bent over backwards to accommodate its neighbour!

People growing up after the 1950s don't know how lucky they are in not having experienced the knitted (garter stitch!) swimming costume. If there had been therapists in those days they would have needed a special qualification just to deal with the aftermath.
You can say that again @Outlier. I was given a hand-me-down from one of my cousins.

The costume was a hideous colour and although I'm not allergic to wool, irritated my skin the whole time I was wearing it.

Wednesday's FBG 4.6 mmol/L on waking at 6.oo am.

Sat up in bed at 05.00- BG 7.0. Stood up and the Libre alarm went off to tell me it was 8.0. In the kitchen at 05.10. down to 7.8. Oops, no, it's 8.5. It's just being very volatile. Early appointment today for my legs, so have to get a bit of a move on.

Sad day today. DIL's young dog, bought as a cross between an Alsation and a Labrador, turns out to be a cross between a Rottweiler and a Labrador. Now that he has grown big, he looks just like a full blooded Rottweiler. It's generally a good natured dog, but it got out a few weeks ago with their other 2 dogs - a Newfoundland/Alsation cross and a Bassett Hound. The 2 bigger dogs got over excited and one of them bit a passer by. Both of the bigger dogs have to go (ordered by the police). They've found a new home for the Newfie but despite huge efforts and searching nation-wide, nobody wants a Rottweiler who may have bitten someone. He can't be trusted. So today he has to be put down. Em has been told that the local SSPCA man has found a home for him. Not sure whether she believes it or not.

Morning all on a chilly start to Thursday in L.A. The weather app on my phone suggested the outside temperature was 5 °C (feels like 3) at 6.15, Hive showed the internal temperature was 18. Libre showed an fbg of 5.7 after an initial sensor error but I had descended and seen to both dishwasher and dogs. I'm not (remotely) happy with that level but who knows what is realistic bearing in mind all the headwinds my system faces? Steroids and antibiotics clearly play havoc with my/ones' system. As for Elsie Keto in all this, my take on bg control is that we are all unique - a mantra of one head I worked with was there's no such thing as the average child and there's no such thing as the average diabetic. I'm fairly sure some subset of us have a unique tipping point weight beyond which our systems can't process glucose effectively. I've read that from several different sources and my journey mirrors that. Mine seems to be an absolute maximum of 12.5 stones (79 kgs) which would horrify me now but ideally where it has been for about 7 years now: around 11 stones 5 to 10 (72.6 -74.4? kgs). I've now shrunk to around 5 11 (1.819 m officially), Elsie Keto seems to do that probably as the range of qualifying food I will eat and the calorific value that produces keeps me in that range. I'm now probably helped with weight control by my body gradually cannibalising itself although the handbrake seems to be on for now. Them's my onions (one of the biggest misses with this way of eating along with beans, pulses and good bread). Attached is something which made me chuckle - miracles can happen - so I'll share. Courtesy of John Crace's sketch of PMQ's. Despite the foregoing, enjoy your Thursday.

Good happy national bin day fellow posters and painters also those who struggle with the meaning of life.

Blood sugars this morning were firstly 8.0 and secondly 7.8 hey ho.

I have the 18th out 20 radiotherapy sessions today follow by a review, I am wondering what will be said.

Mrs J has a list of tasks for me to complete, now if I find that list it will disappear.

It is time to sign out of this thread and start my day, stay safe all, remember in the great scheme of things nothing matters, but a smile helps and spreads a little happiness.

5.5 this morning.
A lovely sunny dog walk around the park.
I was warm as I had 2 thermal base layers on and a very warm fleece.

Amazon delivered my order of raw organic coconut chips last night. I had to stop buying them a while ago as I like them rather too much - I am sure that l will be sensible this time and have given myself one more chance to be sensible and limit my intake of them.

As I was typing this the phrase 'pigs might fly' wafted into my head.

Interesting tree @dunelm
GITB inherits her painting talent from you!

Hope the coffee was good!
Thank you @gennepher - our youngest four grandchildren are enthusiastic daubers of paint. They are here this weekend so hopefully we will be doing another mural - all Diego Rivera (Freda Khalo’s husband).

I had my annual foot tickling today. All good including finding out I had an A1c in June, taken in West Suffolk hospital, which was 32. Weight and bp good so I conclude T2 is low on the list of my health issues. I will still swipe (perhaps 1 sensor a month), weigh food and enter into Cronometer. An innocent cricket ball is being bludgeoned mercilessly in Southampton.@Krystyna23040 apologies for raking over painful memories.
Good A1c and so yes, T2 very low on the list. Try and stay calm amid all this cricket excitement, you are not in Milwall.

All the best with the 18th session and review. Steer clear of lists - especially on boats.

All the best for today's session and for the outcome of the whole course of treatment.

Good morning everyone on an all things bright and beautiful start to international bin day here in the tropics of the dark and dangerous north. 6.1 this a.m. and a pause to wonder about the fuss over a wee barrier jump between 5.9 and 6.1 or any other scale imposed by some very possible arbitrary human scale setters. But enough of the nonsense generated by my inner voices which seem to be set on “shuffle” like a manic IPod. The words “Fentanyl” and “patch” came up in conversation with my brother last night. I will be looking at flight times again this morning. Art bit - some wet on wet colour splashes, see what happens when it dries. Hope your day contains a smile and some warmth. I shall indulge in the smugness of my new cafetière and then quite possible take Mrs Miggins a mug of tea - she didn’t sleep well last night.

Thank you for sharing your splendid art. The hug(s) is/are for Mrs Miggins, presumably your dad with the patch, and that manic iPod shuffle of yours. Once one has seen those arbitrary barriers they become very difficult (and possibly inadvisable?) to forget or ignore. Enjoy the smugness - distinctly Nigeish trait though that is.

Hi @jjraak
Yes, every ounce of my being was on the alert...
I had a good night's sleep
Thanks.
