Morning all from an archetypal dull December day in L.A.. @SlimLizzy hug for the difficult negotiations over houses but good news on MK being watertight.. @gennepher good news that bedroom renovation is proceeding but hug for the tiredness involved. Thanks for sharing the video and kaleidoscope which was the most festive so far imho. @dunelm thanks for sharing the red roof special which in general captures the colours here very well. @Krystyna23040 don't overdo the walking now you've come this far. Today would have been my dad's 92nd birthday. I'm aware that any issues I feel due to having MIL here could subconsciously be due to missing my parents. That is one of many issues where my accuser seems determined to start a debate in my mind between the objective part of my mind and the, what, venal/sinful side? Awkward being dual minded. Looking back through fitbit weekly data for this year I can see how my step count drops off with the lead up to the summer's events and has slowly rebuilt. Still not back to Feb's o.k. 6k per day average but I think stopping immunotherapy has adversely impacted me. I have an idea that impacts my weight more than the now very low level steroids controlling Bullous McBullousface. That adversely impacts my bg control despite my diet remaining the same. Peculiar post in some ways but better out than in - sunlight is the best disinfectant. New tumble dryer here today and the two very local grandchildren later. Enjoy your Wednesday, but put those bins out. Our brown one is full; of leaves courtesy of Bert.

We're human Ian. Dual minded is the name of the game. If we don't have some doubts about the way we feel, or the things we do, we lose our humanity, become dogmatic and biased or even fiercely fundamental. "Stay as sweet as you are..." as some song had it some years ago. Makes you a better person.

Thanks @Annb. Much of what I read implies the "aim of the game" is very much to stop being human because that is what Easter is all about. Being human means being full of all the bad parts we often don't/won't acknowledge and those parts are why there was a fall in the first place and Easter was needed. Absolving myself by accepting I'm only human is both true and a huge cop out. Help is always freely available - no, not at Hogwarts - and essential. This mantra of "that's who I am, take it or leave it" isn't for me, it doesn't fly. Now I've seen this in words I think all I've said is that "this age" is the now but not yet time - bitter sweet. I'm after the Gillette advert chorus. Gratuitous advert here - oh, I don't shave, except to trim my beard, that could be a clue :D

Creative is a kaleidoscope using Laboscope. I pointed the camera lens into my bedside lamp and it created this beautiful blue colour....

Cat Midnight decided I needed a rest, and so we are both under the fluffy green blanket at the moment...naptime....

Have your best day....

Be creative....

Thank you for sharing both the video and lovely seasonal kaleidoscope. Follow the star, calm and bright. I hope both cat Midnight and yourself benefited enormously from the power nap

On Monday made the mistake of having my fifth covid jab normally I would just have a mild reaction but this time I had a severe reaction during the night developed excruciating pains in all my joints felt really sick and was unable to even sit up let alone able to stand spent all of Tuesday in bed still not completely over it supposed to have a booster in a few weeks but that’s not going to happen no more covid jabs for me. Don’t know what my blood sugars are probably will start testing again tomorrow not been able to catch up with the posts yet hope to do so soon.

great to hear from yo Derek @lindisfel.
Hope you are coping and feeling better.
@JohnEGreen at least you have yours, maybe it has to do with your trials you have had lately.
Rest up and I'm sure you will feel better tomorrow.
I have had confirmation that ours will be a home visit on December 18th.
Also, from the surgery, an application for a carers package from a local carers association.
Which I had a done.
Strange, tho, coming after the phone call last week, I might get to talk to a GP.
Watch this space.
Carpet laying day in box room. So that is done too.
Even tho, I was up half the night with Mrs L.
Cos of the nice piece of gammon slowly cooking in the oven roasting away, Mrs L thought it was for chrimbo eve, then informed that Mrs L was upset about getting nowt, not even birthday cards, for her birthday last week, didn't believe that was months ago.
Still, Mrs L argued, it would still have been nice to get her favourite flowers.
Do you want some, when I go for the shopping?
Nah!

It was really cold in many ways last night.
Just starting drizzling

That's all folks, bestest wishes ever.

football, both the game and the culture.
I was thinking (okay, I think occasionally...) @SlimLizzy that if you went for the huge wreck that Mr Slim prefers, that you say it would take about 15 years to renovate, well in my eyes that would be 15 years you would be able to live in the same property. Would that be an attractive proposition to you? And Mr Slim could do all the renovations he wants. You just need him to get one small part of it, the attractive part that looks out into the garden, et cetera up to the standards that would make it a perfect in habitation for you. And only then can Mr Slim do the rest of the renovations...
Obviously, you bargain for the cheapest price and then some.

Sounds possible, and it may well come to that now. I have been dithering over a different huge house, in a different town, but in much better condition. Today decided it was the best available, only some else has got it under offer now !
MrSlim will be so angry that I didn't go to view it sooner. It's been on our list for a month. We don't need ten rooms, but it's in far better condition than the other two enormous wrecks he likes.
One factor MrSlim refuses to take into consideration is his age and gradually declining health. Which is a major reason for my dithering about what now seems the best we are likely to find. If it took fifteen years he would be nearly ninety.

Beautiful song and amazing voice. Have this on me and while I'm here have a superficially simple poem with a bonus piece of artwork as well: poetry Thursday. Apparently, to be truly subversive one should read the poem aloud as per ye Olde Authentic people, possibly around a firepit with S'mores (ask your grandchildren) - not at all Olde Authentic so don't tell all those internet/social warriors completely missing the point of the Jaguar rebrand.

We can aim at perfection but there's no way we can achieve it. It's a good target to aim at, but a bit (if I may say it) arrogant to expect it. If we were perfect, we would not be human at all, but some kind of angel. Even so, there can only be one perfect entity. The rest of us can only do our best. Regrets about failures? Fair enough but just a spur to do better next time. (Do you think angels have regrets?) I am probably my greatest critic - and you are probably yours. A wise man once said, (I paraphrase because I can't remember the exact quote) "if a man has ten good points and one bad, ignore the one and concentrate on the ten. If a man has one good quality and ten bad, ignore the ten and concentrate on the one." You have more than one good quality, Ian. The other one (or however many) you can work on. I spend much of my time doing that.

Don't blame me, blame C S Lewis who insists that's what God is trying to do. I'll PM you the quote from Mere Christianity.
