What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning everyone.....6.3 today.Lots of snow here still, but the roads have been cleared and gritted.......as @geefull the farmers have cleared the side roads....so don't feel quite so snowbound as before. We also have a bread maker and log burner plus calor gas so we are prepared for this weather.(we get power outages here)
After that smug sounding statement we woke this morning to find our central heating boiler not working!!This, after having it recently serviced, our heating engineer/plumber
is at full stretch so will be with us by Monday!Luckily we have a good supply of logs! Keep warm and safe everyone, more snow falling here at this moment.

Boiler not working? How to fix a frozen boiler condensate pipe

Unusually cold weather in the UK is starting to play havoc with boilers, with many of us waking up to no heating or hot water. If this is you, you may find that your boiler is flashing up an error message on its screen, or making strange gurgling noises.

As annoying as this is, with temperatures below freezing, the likely culprit for your problems with modern condensing boilers is a frozen condensate pipe.

Just this moment Mr Mac has gone outside with a boiling kettle,Thankyou @philchap1 Ill keep you posted!! Strangely I'd just been describing your snow drift and letterbox.Wales looks to have serious snow, watching TV news. Our families are spread out at either end of the U.K and France/Switzerland,so it's interesting to weather watch! On the Swiss/French border they have these extreme conditions each winter so everything is geared to severe snow and ice. This year even Geneva airport had to close, and on Thursday my daughter took 3 hrs to travel a vital 30 minute journey to work over the border into Geneva.

Hi dogslife glad you've survived the MRI scanner, how was it? K
Good morning Granny_grump. It was nothing like what I'd expected. Very informal. No hospital gown. Had earplugs and headphones on but no music or instructions heard. The noises were not as loud as I'd expected and were quite interesting to listen to. I just imagined the magnets working and counted along with the rhythm. I kept my eyes closed most of the time so didn't feel claustrophobic. When I did open my eyes it was very bright above my head. My main worry was lying still whilst in pain but they placed pillows under my knees which helped and the table I lay on got really warm which also helped. Before I knew it they were sliding me out of the machine. The most painful part was trying to sit up and get off the thing when it was over!! I ached a lot afterwards but that was nothing to do with the scan which was painless. It was with holding myself stiff to make sure I didn't move and spoil the images and the action of getting up afterwards that caused my discomfort. I think the scanners they use these days must work faster as it took 1/2 the time that I was originally told. Perhaps I was lucky to have a modern machine. If so it was worth the travel to another hospital. Who knows? Just hope they find out what is causing so much pain so that I can get back to normal activities. I hope this post may reassure anyone else who has to have an MRI for the first time .Thanks again. Keep well and happy.:)

Sympathies about the boiler @Glenmac - had this recently myself. Great you have an alternative source of heat. It was not having an instant supply of hot water that I found the real pain.

8.6 for me. I’m new to this game. Was diagnosed about 18 months ago. Went into denial and ignored it (I know. Stupid thing to do) but realised it’s about time I worked on control and stopped behaving like a child.

Onwards and upwards ....or downward in the case of my readings
Motto, downwards and onwards:happy:

@eggs11 and@philchap1Our plumber arrived as we were trying to sort the outside fuel pipes and after a struggle found the source of the trouble. We now have heat in all the rooms and yes, plenty of hot water.....bliss!
Woohoo! Great news :)

Hi @CakeAddiction and welcome to the forum! Well done on taking control, you will get a lot of good advice and support on here.

Joining in this thread as my entries on the “ very low chat” thread are becoming a bit chatty, especially the ongoing dialogue with @ianpspurs

Hardly slept last night. Woke at 2.20am; gave in and got up at 3.30am so quite pleased with a round 5.0. No doubt it’ll be extra early to bed tonight.
