Morning...woke to a 6.1...could it have been anything to do with the large Cadburys buttons I ate on the way to bed last night...only had a couple (6 TBH oops)...sending the rest to my good neighbour later...it's not safe to have them in the house...blast Joseph Cadbury!

Hi all,
Tested my blood this morning. 9.5 :(
Newly diagnosed, type 2. First post here. Just been to Desmond, and wasn’t impressed for the most part, but some of the info was good. I don’t like their approach to low fat eating. It doesn’t make sense to me. Having said that, I’m struggling to make dietary changes. I’m under incredible stress right now and I know I’m eating very badly.
Hope to read and contribute more soon.
Hi Kiwi welcome to our merry band. Stress not good for BG so if you can find a way to reduce your stress all the better. Wishing you well.

Good morning all. Up to 8.6 at 8am. :banghead: No supper and no obvious reason. My last HbA1c was normal and since then my fbs have been above 7 with no apparent changes to anything. The good news is that yesterday morning the rain stopped and the sun came out just in time for the local memorial service which was very well attended. Have a good week every one.:)

Good morning team. Hope we are all well or getting there. I hereby register a run of the mill 6.6 for today.

@Goacher55 - happy birthday!! Hope you are being spoilt with love and pressies.

@LeftPeg - brilliant score. I'm yet to have a morning score in the 4's although I often get there by late afternoon. Great progress!

@Ziggy2017 and @Emma_369 - hope you are both feeling better soon. Although Emma you won't be the first person to go to soft play gym one day and wake up ill the next morning. Those places are held together with snot & sugar and are incubators for the foulest pestilence on the planet.

@jjraak and @123Kiwi - welcome to the forum. Kiwi - sorry to hear you are finding the transition difficult. Take your time. Just try to plan one day at a time so it doesn't overwhelm you. Just one day of reduced carbs and you'll see the scores start to come down. The good feeling you get from that will help with the stress.
I wrote blog a while back about my first 50 days after diagnosis. It's not advice but it may resonate with you as embark on your own T2 journey. You can find it via this link: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/type-2-my-first-50-days.2190/

good morning all :)

4.6 today

cooler but brighter this morning after the miserable chilly rain we got caught in during our walk yesterday afternoon, mum's little dog came back from the walk in great spirits but looking like a mucky mop head on legs :hilarious:

If it dries up enough today behind the house I may venture a touch of strimming :) otherwise I'll be reduced to housework ;)

Happy birthday @Goacher55

Hope your day treats you well :)

Cheers for the welcome, all...

And CC...Most useful info..Many thanks

@jjrak, 6.2 is fairly good for starting.

Tagging @daisy1 in case you haven't seen the welcome message.

The best thing for testing at the start is not just morning fasting but also before after and 2 hours after meals. It is extremely helpful to find which foods cause blood sugar spikes, called "eating to your meter". Test right before eating and 2 hours after. If you get a rise of 2.0 mmol/L or greater, that food isn't for you.

Today i woke up..all 'Meh' BG 6.7 then a cuppa tea, now starting to feel a little more 'Me'.

PS, i Do have a quick question...
Got letter re eye test..advised to bring someone ..how blurry is eyesight after testing..?
i get i can't drive there & back, but i'll still be be able to see the uber outside ..right..LoL

Wish you all a good day, today.:cat:

We all know the strimming is where you want to be - just do it:angelic: I've just been playing with the 6' fence post rammer, loved every minute of it. Inordinately proud of making a very Heath Robinson extension to the log stores ready for my favourite job. Full load of logs tomorrow so I can make nice neat stacks/cords.

It’s doesn’t go that blurry but I suppose people are different. I had no choice and drive home and felt completely confident. It was no worse than my eyes without contacts and I’m fit to drive without them.

Hi all,
Tested my blood this morning. 9.5 :(
Newly diagnosed, type 2. First post here. Just been to Desmond, .

Hi kiwi..welcome from a fellow newbie.

Have my DESMOND tomorrow...hope it goes a little bit better then yours did.

as others say, the stress doesn't help, but life can be full of it, i also found just being diagnosed made me start getting more anxious, and i'm not one to really worry or stress over things.
.
Now i've gone beyond the obvious issues and dug in to the web and the forum in particular, for further information and explanation of what diabetes actually involves, a good few concerns have been addressed and for me that's started to ease my mind slightly..

Hoping similar happens for you.

Humans that only take.
5.3 today so back to normal after Saturdays jump.

Was still 6 Sunday morning and I had nothing but a couple of eggs and some bacon for breakfast on Saturday.

Ah well. New week, bring it.....

Edit. Ah nuts, just getting ready for lunch. Tuna and cucumber, yum.
Would you believe it, back up to 6.

Boooooooo. That Canadian needs to blow his nose.

Take sunglasses even if it’s dull and raining your eyes will be sensitive to light

Lasts between 1-4 hours we’re all different

Please don’t drive after please don’t

Get a lift there and back if you can

Morning everyone not had a very good few days so far on Saturday I felt so sick I couldn’t eat any dinner and yesterday and today I’ve been running temperatures my aunt said I probably have the flu but is it even possible to get the flu after having the flu jab? Not sure what I’m going to do today but right now I’m focusing on staying warm and trying to stop shivering. My blood sugar is 5.3 today probably slightly raised due to being sick
Had the flu a couple of years ago after having the have, get well soon.
