Glad there were no pitchforks in the frozen north - gangs of heavily armed men roaming around in Discoveries here today. Not convinced they know the difference between pheasant and peasant myself.good morning all and a Happy New Year
4.7 today
late to bed because of the torchlit procession, no pitchforks @ianpspurs but sheesh it was windy! sparks from the torches blowing all over the place, fortunately there had been a rain shower earlier so everything was damp.
Quite a few people were at the short thanksgiving service with more joining during the walk accompanied by a couple of pipers and even more waiting down by the fountain to see in the New Year and to watch the fireworks which were set off along the harbour wall.
Following the fireworks there was to be hot soup and sausage rolls in the village hall followed by a ceilidh - bring your own bottle, ( mr. gee and I didn't go to the hall this year since we both have colds but last year it was brilliant )
Mum is cooking dinner today so there is 'tiramisu' for pudding which is my low carb mocha cake layered with a mix of cream cheese, greek yoghurt and double cream whisked together with strong coffee, rum and a drop of vanilla, sweetened with truvia, then I've grated 85 percent dark chocolate over the top this morning.
I don't find LC cake as absorbent as the trad sponge fingers and it goes a bit soggy if you put the coffee and rum directly onto the cake so I put the coffee and rum into the cream mixture, layer it up and leave it overnight for it to meld together, it works
my spreadsheet says it comes out between 6 and 9 g of carb per portion, depending on how much you eat of course, about 1.7 g of that is sugar alcohol from the truvia
Hope the new year treats you well
